The closer is not a mythical creature. It?s a guy who gets out in the 9th inning, and not always in true pressure situations.

What Uehara and Tazawa have done so far for this team as relief aces is better work than what a lot of "proved closers" in the league have done up to this point.

Some say that 14 SV, 4 BS with a 78 %SV after 3 yrs makes him a successful closer. Furthermore, I'm not sure if these numbers can label you as closer.

Anyways, He is our only option at this point, now that the other two busts are on DL. He has showed good things, but still he would be another experiment as closer. Hopefully he becomes the closer we have been looking for.

We knew filling Papelpon's shoes was going to be very difficult. It took 40 years to replace Dick Radatz.

I thought we had Kojji Uehara on this team......

When they signed the 39 year old Koji Uehara, they did not planned to somehow give him the 2nd most appearances in the AL to this point. He can close, but he won't able to do so everyday when needed. We need a RELIABLE arm and the closes guy to that is Tazawa.

I meant for relief ace bro. Read your post then read my response.

My point is that in a 1-2 run game, I don't like having a guy who gives it up at a higher rate than other pitchers

I don't know about you, but i'd rather have a guy who gives up an occasional bomb than one who walks the park. That's the price to pay for being around the zone all the time.

I agree. My point is that Taz should close. Low walks, less bombs.

What's wrong with Bailey returning to closer when he gets back? Didn't read the whole thread are you talking Tazawa and Koji at closer until he returns or instead of?

I've said in like three different posts that i agree with Tazawa closing, but that Station13 says we would lose our "relief ace". That's why i asked if we don't have Uehara on our team, because he's the definition of one. Jesus.

Until they can get Bailey and/or Hanrahan back, the starters nee to go deeper into games more often so the weaknesses of the pen don't get exploited.

Easy man. I'm on vacation and intermittently checking this. I didn't read those other posts

Oh, an unprovoked personal attack, the a700 special. Please tell me again how you don't attack anyone and others attack you with your typical victim act.

UN, calling you a pill is one of the kinder things someone could say about you. A "pill" is not necessarily a bad thing. If I wanted to personally attack you, it would be much harsher than "pill" so stop your whining. I think you maybe menstruating today. Try some cranberry juice. I hear that can help.;)

With Bailey and Hannrahan out, I'd have Taz close, Uehara for high leveraged situations and mix and match Breslow/Miller/Wilson/Mortensen as none of them have set themselves apart.

Some have questionned that Lackey or Doubront should be moved to the pen, but that would be a horrible idea imo.

The Hundred Years War had nothing on some of the battles you see on message boards. On BDC there are two guys who have been pounding each other like Rock-em Sock-em Robots for about two years straight now.

Guy always attacks other posters and saying take a pill, offends him? unbelievable. BTW I was just kidding.

Man, being an internet tough guy must be hard work.

Attack who? You're not making any sense, as usual. Stick to saying "i agree" after a700 posts.

Especially Lackey coming off surgery. I think Tazawa should indeed be given a shot at closing, but i think you're understimating Breslow. He's pretty good.

Gotta be tempting to bring up De La Rosa for stints out of the pen but the last thing you want to do is stunt his development, especially after he was just bumped to a 75 pitch count.

Still, though, that power arm and his recent success (last few outings) have to make the Sox brass contemplate bringing him up for 8 days while Bailey is out.

Don't think 1 week would hurt his development.

Call me crazy but I trust more in Tazawa-Uehara combo for late innings situations than Bailey-Harahan.

The last 2 guys are costing us 11 MUSD plus prospects, whata waste of money. (An AVV PAP's salary)

That would have been possible if he hadn't started a game yesterday. Doubtful they bring him up because of that.
