Matt Harvey for the Mets (against the White Sox) had a 1 hitter (no walks) over 9 innings with 12K's but his offense was shutout as well so it's all for naught as it's in extras.

You mean against the White Sox, since he pitches for the Mets.

The more I see the O?s the more I think they are for serious things. They have a tremendous offence, a solid rotation, the BP is making the job, their closer is shutting down, etc... very rounded team.

I don't think they're a fluke anymore. Chris Davis has blossom into an all-star 1B. Jones and Machado also are good players too. That's a tough lineup to face. And having an excellent defensive catcher helps too. Our catchers flat out sucks.

They are not a fluke. They are the best balanced and deepest team in the division. They lack shut down studs in the rotation-- that is their one weak spot.

It looks like Cleveland is going to sweep a 4 game series of the A's and Oakland is about to fall to .500. It's nice to watch Colon get shelled, but the real surprise is Scott Kazmir (remember him?) throwing 6 innings of 1 ER ball with 10K's. His last start was his first win since 2010 and he's quietly put together 3 decent/good starts.

Nice. Good for them and Tito!

Blue Jays lose on a walk-off walk in extra innings. Pretty much sums up their entire season.

Jay Gibbons looks like the Penguin when he walks(waddles)

Over under on when the Gibbons/AA hot seat rumors turn up?

I laughing pretty hard at all the people that predicted that team to be a juggernaut. Winning the off season mean f all. The 2012 Marlins and 2013 Jays had similar overall rosters. The writing was on the wall. I didn't think they be this bad, but I'm not overly surprised they aren't very good.

Very nice story about Alexi Ramirez and his family on MLB.com today. Incidentally, based on the photo the Yankees have offered his father 5 million for two years as a shortstop.

Watching the mets game right now and the SNY crew is having a pretty intelligent conversation on sabermetrics. Theyre explaining BABIP, FIP, UZR, etc. I think it's good to see that saber stats are starting to bleed into regular game broadcasts. Ive always liked the mets crew, one of the best in MLB.

Their radio crew is excellent, too.

OK, it's pretty amazing that four teams have worst average attendance than Miami, but rock-bottom Cleveland drew less than 10K on Monday and Tuesday? That's a joke, especially as they're playing their asses off.

Halladay on the 15 day DL with a bruised ego.

Roy Halladay will have surgery next Wednesday to have a bone spur removed from his right shoulder as well as a partially torn rotator cuff and frayed labrum repaired.

Advice: The operation will be performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. Halladay is optimistic that he will return to pitch later this season, but it's not a given.

Riiiiiight

Alex Cobb strikes out 4 batters in an inning, the only 4 batters of the inning, and still gave up a run. I believe that's the only time that's ever happened since gamelogs were recorded.

King Felix has been King. I remember reading an article about his diminishing velocity has made him into more of a complete pitcher. The league use to hit close to .300 off his mid+ 90s fastball, now they're hitting under .200 or around that on the pitch the last few years. Too bad he's been stuck on that team the last 7 year.

Cardinals follow Shelby Miller's 1 hit shutout of the Rockies with a 2 hit shutout of the Rockies by Adam Wainwright. There was a stretch of 49 straight batters retired without a hit.

More stupid manager tricks. Davey Johnson pulls Gio Gonzalez after 7 innings and 86 pitches in a brilliant 1-0 performance where he gave up 2 hits. Of course, Storen allowed a run in the 8th and the game is tied. Unless Gio has a blister or a physical issue, it is just another example of colossal managerial stupidity.
