Which is why they have missed the playoffs and finished in third place.

If they did, they would've won the division more regularly. The Yankes usually mop up those teams. Now it's a MUST win for the division every year under the new system. Nobody want to win 95 game as the 1st wild card and get bounce out by a second 89 wins WC.

Believe it or not....I actually like Aviles but not as a full time SS. Mike Aviles is a full time utility infielder...you move him around as you need him. We have like one step down from what we should have. We have a utility infielder playing the most important defensive position on the field every day and then we have mister nothing Punto as our utility infielder.

Aviles's defence hasn't been that bad as far as I can see. 7 errors so far. FanGraphs has him at a UZR/150 of +14.

Aviles is a fine SS. Nobody expect much production out of SS. They're a defensive first player.

I have to give credit where credit is due....Salty's throws have improved 100% since the start of the season. However he is still a defensive liability behind home plate and makes big big big mistakes in the big moments. In case your wondering Catcher is the second most important defensive position on the field, after SS.

Of course I would have Dice K on my fantasy roster after his previous start.

Granderson too??

Power of mechanics, me thinks.

Granderson didn't become a star out of nowhere. His HR numbers are higher because of RF @ Yankee Stadium rather than RF @ Comerica.

81 Games at YS is a much better advantage than 81 games at Comerica.

If you think Aviles is a "fine" defensive SS then with all due respect I just do not think you have seen many "fine" defensive SS which I can absolutely believe.

We are going back to the 1970's folks. We are going back to an era when 40 HR's is a s*** boat load of Home Runs and where pitching is even more important than it appears today and when you will need to have a "fine" defensive SS. If you were not watching baseball in the 1970's you probably have never even seen the baseball you are beginning to see this year and will continue to see unless Uncle Bud decides that his game is no longer interesting enough post the Steroid era.

Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine hasn't ruled out the possibility that Will Middlebrooks (hamstring) will need a stint on the disabled list.

"He feels better today than he did (Sunday) and better than he expected," said Valentine. "That's the only news we have. It's not discolored and that's good. But it's going to be some days (before he plays). We won't let the calendar dictate; we'll just see how he feels. Maybe (a trip to the) DL, maybe a few days. It's just one of those injuries." Middlebrooks believes he could return to the lineup before the team leaves Oakland on Wednesday, but fantasy owners would be wise to have a backup plan at the ready.

Well, the consensus seems to be that Jeter is not a fine defensive SS and which team is leading the division again.

Medical license' date=' suck it.[/quote']

....and until you go to court and the paperwork checks out that it is valid license you will sit in jail for a week (depending on what state you live in) :)

True.

But I don't think Bautista is on roids.

None of us really know.

I just wouldn't be shocked if he tested positive.

we make everyone look like cy young

So Cy Young must have been terrible......you know, since we have the second best offense in baseball.

Casper Wells hit a 3-run double to put the Mariners on top of the Orioles 4-3 in the 7th.

Can't believe I'm scoreboard-watching the Orioles in July.

Thats what happens when the ALE turns in to a big circle jerk.

Some decent news from Pawtucket game tonight...Zach Stewart pitched 6 good innings and Bard, lo and behold, had a clean inning.

Not true at all. Thank you CA.

Melancon has certainly improved from his 2 week stint in April, though I'm not sure he could have gotten worse.

His season numbers will probably never recover, but he's heading in the right direction.
