What makes you think we're dropping 3 of 4? The Yankees and us are pretty evenly matched right now I'd say and they have to play us in our house without pettite or cc.

I didn't say that I thought we would drop 3 of 4, but we have had trouble with crappy pitching lately, and their lineup is going to be tough for our pitchers. I don't see us doing better than a split. If we lose 3 of 4, and I have to acknowledge that as a possibility we are 8 games out-- that makes the division an afterthought. I don't think we land a big rental pitcher to chase a wild card game.

The Yankees gotta pitch too and they aren't exactly throwing out grade a hurlers themselves. We can handle them. Win the next 2 in Oakland and then go home and clean house vs the skanks.

 

but the mofo yankees will bastardize a way to sneak a win. the umpire is going to get a huge paycheck from Steins and he is going to give way more calls in their favor..

it seems like everything works out in their favor since the day i started to watch baseball.. ughh

Power is not the only tool needed to win ballgames. Also, the starting pitching the Yankees will be trotting out for that series is going to suck some major ass.

This is not even debatable.

 

Is that because you SAY its not debatable? Of course it is. A crapshoot implies that the outcome is fairly unpredictable. While its not totally predictable, there will be team that is favored and one that is not. Its not even odds at all. We WILL be the underdog in any one game playoff we play, and there is a very good chance it will be on the road. Betting on our chances there would be a fool's bet.

I'm pretty sure he was hurt in 2008 IIRC and 2009 was one hell of a small sample size considering that we got swept in 3 games.

 

I was responding to your claim that Beckett is one of the best postseason pitchers ever. While that was true five years ago, this is a different pitcher now. Older. Less consistent. All the postseason numbers are small sample sizes but the fact remains that he has not produced in five years.

I seriously doubt that steinbrenner's rotting corpse is in any position to bribe umpires. If it were even present before the start of a game, we'd be best served by removing the head or destroying the brain.
