And one can tell here too' date=' it just takes a bit. I'm a neutral party because I'm an AC Milan fan. My English team is the Blackburn Rovers though. Granted, I have my history against Liverpool, but I don't have a team I like/hate more between Liverpool and ManU.[/quote']

A very important point that seems to be being overlooked is the fact that the present owners have decided not to sell. The statements about a deal with JH being made by the 'Board' are no more than a PR stunt.

JH has indeed issued a statement saying he is interested in buying LFC, but until the owners decide to sell this is all pie in the sky talk

Just remain calm and everything will end up fine. There are plenty of bad fans out there, and they draw enough attention to themselves, let alone when they take the good fans down with them. My advice is to not respond to those hooligans. Sure, they may say hurtful and ignorant things, but when you respond to them angrily, it gives them what they want, and it makes you guys (the good fans) look nearly as bad as they are. Plus, the bad fans will stand out on their own and we'll take care of them.

Just relax, have some good cider (Olde English is my favourite) and enjoy the many other facets of this fine forum. Not everything here revolves around the Liverpool purchase. ;)

I'll be honest, and Ive had a look around at other topics. To say they go over my head is to put it mildly. My knowledge is baseball is limited - the only thing Ive ever played thats anything like is softball

Stick with it mate, you're doing fine.

I agree Red, just hating all the negative crap about LFC and the fans when the real ones are willing to talk about the topic.

Either way, i am on a double win today, the Sox and Liverpool, good times ahead I hope!

It can be difficult. I'm a mod on one of the Liverpool Forums. Send a message if you like and I'll navigate you through it. There are some sound lads on here btw.

Incorrect - the sale can be forced by a majority vote in favour, hence Hicks' attempts to have Ayres and Purslow sacked and replaced by his son and one of his lackeys.

It's all right. I imagine that your baseball knowledge is around the same area as the Americans knowledge of cricket. Or American football vs. Rugby. I just meant that this thread doesn't accurately represent what this forum is like.

Hello to all the RedSox!

I would like to personally say that Liverpool FC, the most successful and biggest English football team are forming a very special relationship with you. I hope we can work together and make both our teams benefit from this truly magical situation.

Maybe this new stability in our great team could persuade Rafa (he is our greatest ever manager BTW), to come back to the place that he can call home, where everybody knows this name... and obviously Fernando, Fernando Torres will now stay because he isn't a silly little boy with a toy, and knows what a good thing this is for players and staff alike.

So once again, I look forward to this special bond we will form in the future, and I hope we can become the best of friends. If you would like, I will buy you all a beer if you come over, and I can tell you all a tale or ten about all the nastiness in the English Premier League, such as Manchester United, bent referees (no not bent as in gay you rude little boys LOL OMG) and the corruption right to the very core! Also, I would love to tell you the story of the Anfield shaky camera effect... it's just amazing, it really, really is!

But, that's all for another time!

Hare Krishna, and all that me ol' muckers I wish you the very best of luck, and I mean that very, very sincerely.

Liverpool new owner 'to move club's debts' in deal

Liverpool's prospective new owner has vowed to clear the Premier League club's debts when it takes over.

New England Sports Ventures (NESV) issued a statement saying it would move "all acquisition debt" away from the club if the ?300m bid succeeds.

NESV - owners of the Boston Red Sox baseball team - confirmed its bid has been accepted by Liverpool's board.

But Reds' owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are trying to block the sale which they say undervalues the club.

Hicks and Gillett are trying to replace Liverpool's managing director Christian Purslow and commercial director Ian Ayre with Hicks' son Mack and a business associate Lori Kay McCutcheon.

Purslow, Ayre and chairman Martin Broughton are now consulting lawyers over whether they can resist the owners' attempts to replace them and force through a sale to the American consortium.

NESV wants to help bring back the culture of winning to Liverpool FC

New England Sports Ventures statement

Its statement added: "NESV wants to create a long-term financially solid foundation for Liverpool FC and is dedicated to ensuring that the club has the resources to build for the future, including the removal of all acquisition debt.

"Our objective is to stabilise the club and ultimately return Liverpool FC to its rightful place in English and European football, successfully competing for and winning trophies.

"Since 2001, New England Sports Ventures has made successful investments in sports and entertainment properties.

"Our portfolio of companies - including the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park, New England Sports Network, Fenway Sports Group and Roush Fenway Racing - are all committed to one common goal: winning.

"NESV wants to help bring back the culture of winning to Liverpool FC.

"We have a proven track record, shown clearly with the Boston Red Sox. The team has won two World Series championships over the past six years. We will bring the same kind of openness, passion, dedication and professionalism to Liverpool FC."

BBC Sports understands manager Roy Hodgson will be given time by the Massachusetts-based partnership to turn around the club's fortunes on the field, having dropped into the relegation zone after the weekend's defeat at home to Blackpool.

If the sale goes through, they will assess the situation and it is thought Hodgson still retains the support inside Anfield. The NESV consortium is headed by multi-millionaire John W Henry

The Premier League expects the hurdles for the takeover bid to be cleared this week.

The club's current, much-criticised, American owners Hicks and Gillett, say the NESV bid - and a rival one from an Asian consortium - "dramatically undervalues" Liverpool's worth.

NESV is thought to be offering about ?300m for the club, enough to pay back the ?240m of loans and ?40m of fees owed to Royal Bank of Scotland, which must be settled by 15 October else a penalty fee of ?60m will be due.

Hicks and Gillett are believed to value the club at ?600m.

Actually my knowledge of 'football' isnt too shaky :D but point taken.

The most I know about baseball is the basics - strikes, balls and outs etc. God bless http://www.sticksports.co.uk

I was one of the 1st Liverpool fans to post on this thread.

At the start I was worried that our more infantile fans might give us a bad name.

I pulled jibbo on insulting Americans.

I didn`t envisage other football fans coming on here to besmirch our good name.

The link from Redcafe (Man Uniteds main fan forum) to here will drop off their main board and in a few weeks and hopefully only the sensible Liverpool fans will remain posting here.

ATM the Red Sox owners are massive news in England.

We were interested in how you Red Sox fans feel about him.

Once bitten twice shy,you know, after Hicks and Gillette took us to our lowest ebb ever.

I`m happy that the Red Sox fans on here like and trust Henry.

You`ve managed to ease our nerves and I`m sure a majority of Liverpool fans are looking forward to making Red Sox friends.

We`re famous for playing teams in Europe who then befriend us and set up Liverpool supporter Clubs after.

Just ask the Glasgow Celtic,Monchengladbach,St Pauli,Roma,Atletti etc fans.

I`ll be one of the fans emailing the marketing departments of both clubs asking if they would design a Hybrid shirt both sets of fans can were in both Stadiums.

If you want to know who the trolls are I`d be glad to assist your Mods(Who have done a great job under immense pressure today)

NESV: Our objective for LFC

6th Oct 2010

New England Sports Ventures ("NESV") can confirm that their bid for Liverpool FC has been selected by the Club's Board of Directors and agreement has been reached with the Board to purchase the Club.

NESV wishes to extend its appreciation to the Board for their diligence and their efforts on behalf of Liverpool FC and its supporters.

NESV wants to create a long-term financially solid foundation for Liverpool FC and is dedicated to ensuring that the Club has the resources to build for the future, including the removal of all acquisition debt. Our objective is to stabilise the Club and ultimately return Liverpool FC to its rightful place in English and European football, successfully competing for and winning trophies.

Since 2001, New England Sports Ventures has made successful investments in sports and entertainment properties. Our portfolio of companies, including the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park, New England Sports Network, Fenway Sports Group and Roush Fenway Racing, are all committed to one common goal: winning. NESV wants to help bring back the culture of winning to Liverpool FC.

We have a proven track record, shown clearly with the Boston Red Sox. The team has won two World Series Championships over the past six years. We will bring the same kind of openness, passion, dedication and professionalism to Liverpool FC.

We are hopeful with regard to the pending legal and English Premier League procedures now underway; however, in light of these issues, we will respectfully refrain from comment or further actions at this time.

Chairman Martin Broughton, managing director Christian Purslow and commercial director Ian Ayre have pre-empted any legal action by current co-owners Hicks and Gillett to stop the planned takeover, issuing a 'declaratory judgment' which their solicitors, Slaughter and May, have prepared for a hearing on Friday.

Hicks and Gillett, whose losses would be an estimated ?140 million, are convinced that their legal arguments will halt the proposed sale to the owners of the Boston Red Sox, and an appeal appears certain no matter what the outcome of the initial courtroom battle on Friday.

The trio are anxious that the whole legal process, and indeed the sale that depends upon it, is completed by the October 15 deadline, when the Royal Bank of Scotland calls in its ?237 million loans from Hicks and Gillett and effectively owns the club. The bank would then have to sell the club on, or put Liverpool into administration.

Rumours flying round than John Henry is just brokering the deal for Bob Diamond.

Bob Diamond the current President of Barclays

He's not got any personal wealth according for Forbes, so why would a bank be buying a football club? or is John Henry brokering a deal for Bob Diamond who is brokering a deal for somebody else?

Technically its a conflict of interest seeing as the bank he heads is the main sponsor of the league

As usual rules will have to be changed for LFC

The best bit is knowing H&G will be busting blood-vessels over it.

With NESV removing Laurel and Hardy's debt, the club is UKP40+ better of a year according to Broughton. That's a nice profit to start new ownership with.

Can any of the lads here confirm your ticket price please?

I've just read the following .............

"One issue they may have with Henry, though, is the cost of getting into the place. Ticket prices at Fenway Park are among the most expensive in the Major League, with the average cost being in the region of $45"

It is good to hear that Red Sox fans are happy with John Henry, that is very positive, and they have a fine portfolio of companies. However the sports in US and Europe are quite different. In US you have salary cap, which we don't have in Europe, and the consequence is sky high salaries to the players (which was the reason the the Kraft Family a few years back refused to buy Liverpool FC. Another difference is draft, where we in Europe have transfer windows (a period where you can transfer players). I just hope that NESV have a good knowledge about sports in Europe.

All the best to Red Sox!
