  1. This is very good for Liverpool Football Club. Kenny is back so I expect there to be some real passion and commitment. He won't put up with the antics of sulky premadonnas either. We're back on track ......... yipppeeeee.
  2. Loads of stats, which really boils down to a call for NESV to look towards a new manager for LFC. Regardless - happy Christmas to you all.
  3. No doubt about, in fact the whole team was wearing red socks.
  4. Yes. She really likes her football and I sinerely hope that she sticks around a lot more; lady lucky. Great crowd today and a great win for us. I hope that John Henry can visualise a 80,000 capacity stadium packed with Scousers. Difficult to get the full impression of the atmosphere on the television but in the ground the noise levels are terrific.
  5. Firstly, I do not doubt that both Glasgow clubs are 'great' in many ways. They both have loads of tradition, history, passion etc. Furthermore, LFC does seem to have very good relationships up there also. A Liverpool v Celtic, or vice versa fixture, is obviously a big attraction - we have quite a lot of similarities. No offence to the Scottish lads but LFC does appear to have a far bigger following / interest worldwide. That is not to say that the fans of either Ranger or Celtic are not as fanatical - they obviously are. But LFC has our song - YNWA which was adopted by Celtic and many European clubs (especially in Germany) and was incorporated into prominant 'theme music' for the 2006 World Cup. I went last year to watch my German club Kaiserslautern - they wear all red, have a great 'Kop' and sing YNWA. I was in the away end which at the time was Duisberg. K'Town were great and reminded me of the old Liverpool. Bearing in mind that under G&H I was in full boycott mode so going to K'Town was like being on a football pilgrimage. Plus the German lads were very respectful and we had a great time, (as it should be) - they adore LFC. If Celtic lads want to believe that their club is bigger - let them. The facts (sponsorship & worldwide connections) suggest otherwise.
  6. They should have been given free soap & water, dirty shower of ****ers. Linda is lovely. I have a good feeling about NESV, John Henry, Tom Werner et al. They seem to naturally enjoy the atmosphere and like being owners, rather than those two despicable carpet-baggers. You own the club now Linda so warm welcome - enjoy; have a good laugh and shed a few tears. Learn the words & sing along - the fans will love you.
  7. Dalglish to open new club store .......... http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/dalglish-to-open-new-club-store Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce the opening of a new official club store in Belfast. The 2,000 sq. ft. unit will be based on Castle Lane in the heart of Belfast's shopping district. The store will carry the full range of official club products and will create at least 10 new jobs for the city. Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish will officially open the store - Liverpool's fifth official club shop - at 10am next Friday, November 5. Playwright Nicky Alt will be in attendance on Saturday, November 6 to sign copies of his One Night in Istanbul DVD. Lee Dwerryhouse, LFC Head of Retail, said: "We are really looking forward to the store opening and would encourage all of our fans in the area to come along. "As a city Belfast has many parallels with Liverpool and the club's fan base in the city is huge. "Our fans in Belfast are extremely passionate and their loyalty to the club is unbelievable. I am delighted we have been able to reward that loyalty and passion with our first store outside of the north west of England. "We considered many sites for our next store but all the signs kept pointing back to Belfast. This store signals the start of an expansion strategy that will see a host of official club stores opening outside of Liverpool over the next few years." ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Great to know that we (NESV et al.) at least appear to be making in-roads into other regions. As the article says, LFC are huge in Belfast - time they had a LFC store.
  8. In reality Celtic FC share the same sponsor deal with Rangers FC - Scottish based sponsor (Tennents) amounting to 1.5 million pounds per annum. http://www.footballshirtculture.com/sponsorship/celtic-announce-tennents-lager-shirt-sponsorship-deal.html Why couldn't Celtic FC secure a far better deal? Even Liverpool FC under dreadful ownership secured a far better deal (80 million pounds over 4 years), that was guaranteed to reach a worldwide audience and recoup the cost relatively quickly. Makes you think doesn't it? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8253953.stm
  9. These adverts are making me ..... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
  10. There are some big lads out there - some carrying quite a bit of beef.
  11. Thanks mate, I'm trying to get a stream.
  12. Excuse me lads - I haven't seen the ball since the kick-off. I'm trying to get to grips with what is going on. Who're the Boston Celtics playing tonight please?
  13. There are some great games / sports with unusual origins.......... The earliest known origins of table tennis is that, in the 1880s, British soldiers in India and South Africa played a game using a table, a row of books placed in the middle of the table for the net, a cigar box lid for the paddle, and a rounded cork from a champagne/wine bottle for the ball. I used to call it 'ping pong' as a kid.
  14. Welcome mate.
  15. I'd love to have a stadium like the Bernabeu - 80,000 spectators, or in our case fanatics singing their nuts off. The Camp Nou imo suffers a distinct lack of atmosphere as it caters for 100,000, which imo is too much. Others may disagree. Anfield is not fit for purpose, as it stands it is hemmed in and not great for access. Merely adding to it imo just compounds a problem of asthetics and atmosphere. Stadiums these days being all seater are restrictive and certainly don't lend themselves to the ambience of former hallowed days. We desperately need a new Kop, it would be madness to stuff a 1970's engine in a modern F1 racing car - we need a brand new mega stadium. In terms of a new build the advantages are numerous - increased ticket revenue, increased possibilities in terms of sponsorship, increased prestige, increased local jobs, increased safety, increased merchandise. One big mega attraction to put it mildly. Also we could host more international games and other sporting events. Anfield will always be nostalgic but no great team was made simply because it was shackled to history, we need to look forward, we need to compete.
  16. Hey Sheffield, Liverpool haven't played at Fenway (yet), so it's all wishful thinking on your part mate. Celtic are indeed a great club; I'd love to see Liverpool v Celtic at Fenway then the lads can see the passion of both sets of fans. Liverpool have fan clubs the world over, they cannot be outclassed by any British club in terms of European trophies and honours. Anyway, glad to see you on an LFC thread.
  17. Call For Appropriate Action From FIGC & UEFA To Stop Football Hooliganism Within Italy ....... http://twitition.com/zuew3
  18. Italian violence update........... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/8077688/Napoli-v-Liverpool-Liverpool-fans-attacked-ahead-of-Europa-League-clash-in-Naples.html?utm_source=footballURLs&utm_medium=twitter Two men, aged 27 and 52, were taken to hospital with stab wounds, but the injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said: "We can confirm the hospitalisation of two British nationals in Naples, Italy on 20 October. We are providing consular assistance." A family of British tourists were also accosted by locals at a restaurant last night, with reports saying stones were thrown. The attack happened shortly after 4am when the family, from Bedfordshire and in town for tonight's Liverpool game, were followed from a bar in the Piazza Garibaldi in the city centre. A group of between 20 and 30 men assaulted them as they walked back to their hotel. A variety of weapons - including a baseball bat, three four-foot aluminium bars and a five-foot long piece of wood - were recovered from one of the arrested men's home. All three have criminal records and one man has been convicted of football-related violence and is banned from Napoli's Stadio San Paolo. There were at least three attacks last night and police say all are linked to Napoli's hardcore Ultra fans. "We are still gathering information with regards to yesterday's incidents," a Naples police spokesperson said. "Four people of the same family, a father, a mother and their two sons, were attacked last night and needed medical attention. "Due to the aggression, three Naples citizens were arrested." Eye witnesses suggest groups of 'Ultras' were seen roaming the streets of Naples last night looking for anyone English. Up to 1,000 Liverpool fans are expected to descend on Naples from Milan today, having watched Inter Milan's 4-3 victory over Tottenham yesterday. Police in Naples have set up a secure zone in the city's port area and bus transport has been organised from the airport to the San Paolo stadium. Italian police have been on high alert for several days now after youths damaged the goals and the pitch when breaking into the ground over the weekend. .........................................................................................
  19. Reds fans stabbed in Italy http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11959_6457876,00.html Two Liverpool FC fans have been stabbed in Naples ahead of the club's Europa League match against Napoli. The trouble flared on Wednesday night ahead of Thursday's game at the San Paolo stadium. Reports also suggest a third Liverpool fan was in hospital in a non-serious condition following a separate incident where a gang of youths armed with knives approached the English supporters. English tourists mistaken for Liverpool fans were also accosted by locals at a restaurant with reports saying stones were thrown. Three local men were arrested following the incident. "We are still gathering information with regards to yesterday's incidents," said a Naples police spokesperson. "Four people of the same family, a father, a mother and their two sons, were attacked last night and needed medical attention. "Due to the aggression, three Naples citizens were arrested." The incidents are sure to mean Italian police will be on high alert in case of further clashes ahead of the game on Thursday evening. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unfortunately these are not isolated attacks. In 1984 many innocent Liverpool fans were set upon and stabbed by Italians, my mate took his younger brother who was 13 years old - he came back with serious wounds. Those events have been argued to have possibly been the catalyst leading to serious crowd disturbances the following year in 1985 when a wall collapsed and regretably Italian fans died. I really hope that Uefa cracks down on these marauding Italian youths who go about armed with bottles and knives. Atm it looks like two stabbed but usually the violence continues well after the game. Italy has a serious crowd disorder problem which needs addressing asap.
  20. We look forward to a healthy exchange of views on our sports. I am mindful that we are guests over here and personally I don't want to encroach too much. There is a common denominator in terms of NESV (which does not appear to have its own forum), however this topic was created and dedicated to matters concerning LFC. Other than that, we do share a common bond of passion and tolerance. However if you don't care for football I still respect the particular choice of which sport you wish to follow. You would be made very welcome on our forum mate; if you want to chat about MLB & life in general then please feel free to drop by and if you want I'll create a Red Sox topic thread in your honour. http://scouse.forum-gratuiti.com/index.htm YNWA
  21. I think that we will see less of Purslow from now on. Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow quits job .................. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/9111239.stm
  22. http://www.ahajokes.com/cartoon/bigbr.jpg Fortunately some were able to post, while I on the other hand was seeing double over the last couple of days. Your round next Davey lad. Lol.
  23. Also very warm welcome mate. With Schmee and others, there're a few Irish lads here - not at all unusual. The Red Sox lads have been friendly and are great lads for a reference to baseball; which I'm really looking foward to getting into. I was always looking for a baseball team and these American Red Sox lads have a similar affinity to what we have - passion and love for their game.
  24. Very warm welcome Glenn.
