MESSAGE FROM THE MODS: Don't use this thread to carry on with ridiculous soccer feuds. If you have something interesting to say post it, but people spamming links and fighting will be banned. The use of bizarre English slang that we don't understand constitutes fighting.

Not sure how much truth there is in it, but it's all kicking off at Liverpool.

Our two current owners are desperately trying to keep the club despite putting it in massive debt. Liverpool have received two bids for the club, one of which is apparently from John Henry.

Any news over there about this?

Thanks.

Hi lads.....

News is coming to us that Liverpool FC (an english soccer team) is to be bought by John W. Henry. I was hoping to get some info on the man, if possible.

Basically, we have been owned by Tom Hicks (Dallas Stars & Texas Rangers) and George Gillete (Montreal Canadiens) for the past 3 years, after initial promises from them that they would not purchase the club through a leveraged buy out... the completely reneged on it and heaped massive debt upon massive debt on us causing us to lose one of the all time greatest coaches amongst some of the best players in the world and have pushed us to extinction.

We are just hoping that Mr. Henry has our best intentions at heart and although nobody knows this for sure we would love to hear that he is a proper owner & that he does in fact have the finances to put us right again.

Any info you have would be greatly appriciated. We are a proud club, based on good morals and what we call "the liverpool way". Our fans are hurting and hurting hard. we are not Anti-American in any way, in fact some of our greatest sons have gone on to great things in your country, Steve Nicol the manager of the New England Revolution.

I know how passionate the boston people are, I am from dublin and know that our sense of community is identical.

Please watch the following video and look at the passion and hurt in or fans eyes. If you can help with info on Mr. Henry or anything else please do.

Soccer is actually a great sport. If you actually follow certain leagues and players I'm sure you'll like it. It's the most popular sport for a reason. I'd take football over soccer anyday though haha.

EDIT:USA sucks haha

We call soccer "football" here boys!!! ;)

This club is our life. To have it stolen away from us from these two shysters is wrecking peoples lives.

Well technically yes football is soccer. I'm used to saying it in Spanish though. "Futbol"

Can any of you Sox guys tell us what John Henry is like as an owner?

If it is anything like what he did with the sox, he'll put some money into it and get it back to respectability, but there will always be a major emphasis on value

John Henry is a good owner. He won't cheat you on payroll and is a smart business man. If Larry Lucchino shows up, call up some hooligans and have him clobbered with blunt objects.

Haha soccer. Like anyone cares about it here.

I'll be sure to read up on this after I finish checking the newspaper for the cricket and curling scores.

Hey! Don't you EVER, EVER, compare cricket and curling. I played cricket for awhile, it's pretty good. I like it more than "soccer"

I read an article from an English newspaper about a cricket match. I found it rather disturbing that almost none of the article was written in English. I caught the occasional 'and', 'the', and 'to', but other than that I'm fairly certain it was penned by an autistic octopus who was also on fire.

There's a reason the language is called "English" and not "American"

Spanish is so much more sophisticated.....

Real Spanish' date=' not the Carribbean or LA porch dialects.[/quote']

That's the difference. English people bitch because Americans can't talk "real" english, but most "Hispano-parlantes" can talk real Spanish. (And hint, it's not the regional crap they speak in certain regions of Spain.)

There's a difference between "can", and "do", but the rest of the post I agree with. The Barcelona Spanish is quite a bit different from the rest.

I'll admit i usually talk that shitfest we Dominican call Spanish but, i am not only able to speak "perfect" spanish but i actually do so on a semi-regular basis, specially now that i get to talk to people from so many other Spanish-speaking countries. I can also pronounce and spell better than a bunch of Americans, which actually pisses some people off for some reason.

(In English, just to avoid confusion.)
