A sincere thank you to Dojji for the reply and insight into NESV and how they do business. I'm sorry you had to put up with idiots, people trying to troll and just generally be wind up merchants. Any questions you might have, please don't be afraid to ask. YNWA

ATTN ENGLISH PEOPLE VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION:

Beatles or Stones?

Personally speaking, Beatles have a better catalog(ue) and are arguably more varied and influential. Bill Wyman also apparently slept with a 13/14 year old when he was in his 40s...

From this latest round of comments I think Ive deduced how the 'World Series' works.

1) There are 2 leagues: a Western and an Eastern league

2) The top 2 from each league progress to a semi-final stage where they play each other 7 times

3) The team with the most games won from the 7 from each semi contests the World Series?

Can someone correct me if thats wrong?

Catalan is second to Spanish in Barcelona. By a significant margin.

not true at all, even all the steet signs in barca are in catalan, i go there quite often

Very few fans would want a new Fenway. It might be nicer' date=' better looking, and more comfortable, but it wouldn't be as good.[/quote']

Thanks. How did the smaller seats turn out? I'm not sure Anfield could do that, the seats are for pretty small bottoms as it is.

1. Close, they are the American and National leagues, with EACH league containing an Eastern, Central, and Western division

2 and 3. They play a maximum of 7 games. The first team to win 4 games goes to the final round, or in the case of the World Series, wins the championship.

That's how I knew it. Barcelona was catalan or some other dialect, while most other places were the main kind of Spanish (castillian perhaps?)

I think I get it...

Quite correct, but not completely. I understand that the Basque in the NW have their own dialect - which I can understand as they are a different ethnicity

The Sox have added seating capacity since the new owners have taken over but I never heard anything about smaller seats being installed. However, the majority of seats at Fenway Park are small and cramped. It's the least comfortable venue I ever attended with the possible exception of the Marinski Theatre in St. Petersburg Russia.

The new ownership has made many improvements to Fenway (all with the intent to increase revenue while selling it as "enhancing the fan experience") but it remains antiquated and out modded. They have done a great job in marketing it as "America's Most Beloved Ballpark".

It's still a dump. A cleaned up dump, but a dump, never the less. That's my opinion. Shared by very few here.

I should have said - I'm a Liverpool fan (if you hadn't guessed already by the Join Date) and a recent convert to baseball. A mate of mine is a Twins fan and was trying to get me into baseball for years but I resisted (thinking it went on for days like cricket).

As a sports fan there was always the desire to see a game and I finally persuaded my other half to see a game on our last visit to SF. We had a great time and really love the city - despite the loss to the Dodgers - and we were hooked...whilst not quite knowing a lot about what was going on.

An earlier post by Dojji said something about songs at Red Sox games. Is it true you have songs? The Giants fans seemed pretty much motivated by the vdu/ scoreboard messages, apart from a few in the cheap seats where we were sitting.

*ps 'mate' does not mean wanting sex or a lifelong relationship (official disclaimer)

Seems to have calmed down a bit in here so thought I'd try my first post.

Like the other lad was asking about the Giants I would be interested in your thoughts on the Mets.

I was getting into Baseball just as them damn Yankees where hooking up with Manure (Man United) and their attempt at world domination.

So the obvious team to follow for me was the Mets. If I'd known more at the time about your rivalry I could easily have been a Sox fan I suppose!

Anyway, is it just the Yankees or the whole of New York rivalry you have?

What`s fishy about it?

News broke this morning in England that the owner of The Boston Red Sox had bid to

buy Liverpool FC.

Liverpool fans 1st instinct is to log onto Red Sox forums and ask questions about your owners.

I`d expect an influx of Liverpool fans to this site until the sale is complete.:harhar:

Just got another one.

Key questions answered about the proposed Liverpool takeover

• Gillett and Hicks stand to lose ?144m from the sale

• Liverpool 'won't lose points under administration'

* Owen Gibson

* Wednesday 6 October 2010 22.15 BST

Why is the board attempting to sell the club against the wishes of the owners?

Because under the terms of a refinancing agreement in April with the Royal Bank of Scotland, which is owed the majority of ?237m, the club were put up for sale and Martin Broughton installed as independent chairman. But Tom Hicks and George Gillett have consistently sought to frustrate his efforts.

Why are Hicks and Gillett resisting the takeover?

Because the co-owners believe the ?300m offered by New England Sports Ventures (NESV) and accepted by Broughton undervalues the club and will not give them a profit. In fact, they will be staring at a ?144.4m loss in the form of the loans that they extended to the club's holding company via a company registered in the Cayman Islands.

What can they do?

Hicks has failed in a last-ditch bid to refinance the ?237m loan and Tuesday night's move to oust two members of the board – the managing director, Christian Purslow, and the commercial director, Ian Ayre – and replace them with their own directors was an attempt to regain control. It was resisted by Broughton, secure in the knowledge that the pair signed an agreement that gave him final say on the make-up of the board and promised not to interfere in the sale process. The only avenue left is next week's court challenge on the legality of the move to sell the club against the wishes of the shareholders.

Why is Broughton convinced that he will be able to complete the sale?

He believes he has shown that the club have been extensively marketed and that the NESV offer is the best one on the table. He has taken extensive legal advice and believes the agreements signed by Hicks and Gillett are binding. Today's tour of the TV studios and the public statements were also partly an aggressive attempt to outflank the co-owners.

What if Hicks and Gillett win?

Even if they win next week's legal challenge – which most experts consider a remote possibility – RBS will still be able to put the club into administration on 15 October, the refinancing deadline. The bank could then take control of the club and immediately sell it – quite possibly to NESV. The co-owners are effectively caught in a pincer movement between the RBS deadline and the sale process.

Will the deal leave Liverpool debt-free?

Essentially, yes. The deal will involve the banks being repaid ?200m, ?40m going to cover other liabilities and ?60m clearing debt relating to the proposed new ground in Stanley Park. That will leave a ?37m working overdraft with RBS and a facility related to the new stadium. But although it is understood that NESV will pay for the acquisition with cash raised from its own shareholders, Broughton could not confirm whether it would also take on additional debt to do so.

Not many Boston fans take the Mets seriously as their Owner and General Manager can't seem to do much right. Boston Fans hate New York teams and New York fans seem to feel the same about Boston teams. Although most of the mutual disrespect is centered in the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry.

While others have been posting, I have been reading through your excellent forum and have come to the conclusion that you SOX fans are not much different from us LFC fans. We are both passionate about our club and defend it against all comers. The real LFC fans who came on here today will probably stick around for a while to get to know more about your great game and club. The idiots who tried to trash your forum will fade away. I would like to say a big thanks for the welcome we got from you guys and invite you all to take a look at our LFC forum. Slasher gave the link so I wont re post it.

Last thing is a big well done to your admin for being tolerant with the sudden influx of LFC fans who registered on here today. It is a difficult job and one that is mostly unappreciated.

I have had first hand experience being admin myself on the scouse forum. Here is hoping that we can form a good relationship between our two sets of fans. Thanks again, YNWA.

Just to put things in perspective. The comments posted by ManchesterIsMyHeaven were completely out of order. Liverpool fans did not steal from their own in the Hillsborough tragedy that was a lie made up by the worst possible tabloid in the world. His other comments were correct. That said, Mr ManchesterIsMyHeaven failed to point out that the city where his team are from is also a shithole of the highest order with just as many crooks and lowlifes as Liverpool has. He also forgot to mention that most of Manchester United's (taking a guess as there are two teams in that city) fans don't even come from there, a great deal live in London. The team he supports has a coach who bitches and moans about every f***ing decision that doesn't go their way like a big girly pussy, much like their support. His main star has just be caught with prostitutes while his wife was pregnant, that's the kind of arseholes they attract.

I understand your anger but , as a defence of our team goes, that is really disgusting. There is never the need to resort to the crap you wrote. Manchester is a great city ( most of whom support Man City) but taking cheap shots against trolls cheapens you too. We need to distinguish between the Red Cafe/ Republiko Mankunia and genuine people

Sure! Our team is out of it and things are a little slow.
