This John Henry guy has got a bargain Liverpool is a sleeping giant if he makes the ground bigger the club will be worth 600 million pounds at least.

What's up my Red Sox supporting buddies, I am a Liverpool fan, and I just wanted to show my appreciation to your owner, Mr Henry. He is a saviour to this football team and if this deal goes through, then I would be happy for our teams to be associated. Our teams are very alike (yours being before John Henry and co took charge) in the fact that you hadn't won anything in a long time and your rivals, the Yankees, were winning everything. With us, we haven't won the Premier League in 20-21 years and our rivals, Manchester United, have been winning everything. Hopefully, like the Red Sox, Henry will supply us with the resources we need to be the best again.

Thanks again.

Actually mate, I meant to say that she's since moved over here. She likes the local beer and finds the houses quite quaint - "neat" she says. She likes Blackpool Football Club and the seaside - donkeys and rock. Now she lives in Merseyside. I took her to a Castle once and she thought that it was 'awesome.' She loves Liverpool though - friendly people and great humour. She even started to make Scouse when we were kids. She loves the idea of us being associated with the Red Sox - she pulled me up on the spelling as over here we say 'socks.' In America I think they call them stockings, though I'm not sure - it can get confusing.

Big wave to you Slasher mate.......

Fancy meeting you on here Billy. lol

Let's hope that now Liverpool can be seen on NESN.

That would make this takeover even MORE sweet to me.

Oh dear Lord, show the games!!!!!

Rem Dog and Don, followed up by The Red Head Supersub!

who are the red sox ? why do they call it the world series ? how can a man with a piss poor fortune of only $800 million afford to buy the migthy reds and invest in them?

Liverpool fc have millions of fans around the world in a sport that is played and watched by the most if not all the countries in the world. Why would a baseball owner have a interest in the club if its not about money? couldn't you red sox fans the few that there are stop this from happening please.

Even if this might be "about money" that doesn't mean a team with a financial lasso around its neck. The most profitable teams are the ones that are well-run and successful, that both do more with less and have a lot to work with.

This is good news

Where they haven't finalised their view is whether that should be the new stadium or whether there are still opportunities to build at Anfield itself. They have done both. The people involved have built the new stadium at Baltimore Orioles, for example, and at Fenway Park they looked at the two options and decided that actually redevelopment with all of the tradition was better than a new stadium. So they have done both, they are committed to looking at both very professionally and seeing which is the best option, but there will be stadium development.

New stadium would be absolutely packed - needs assurances regarding accoustics and traditional football considerations. Arsenal ended up with a modern library.

And what a stadium that is in Baltimore. State of the art!

Everything we hear so far and from my experience following the Sox I like this!

The only reason he's stuck with Fenway is that the fans would have shot him for bulldozing their beloved 99 year old ballpark. That and there's few places to build a stadium in downtown Boston and they're reluctant to move to the 'burbs.

Believe it or not, there was a time when Anfield was the home of the Blues and not the Reds!

Everton were one of the first members of the Football League but when they were evicted from Anfield in 1892, stadium owner John Houlding was left with an empty ground and no team to play in it.

So Houlding decided to form his own team and, on 15 March 1892, Liverpool Football Club was born. The rest is history...

Liverpool won their first ever League Championship in 1901.

A run of nine wins and three draws from their final twelve matches saw the Reds crowned champions.

The team were given a heroes welcome when they returned to the city with the trophy and captain Alex Raisbeck was carried through the streets on the shoulders of fans!

Now thats what I call history.

LFC are a sleeping giant and the RED SOX being involved with LFC will do them no harm at all. YNWA

Liverpool played their first ever FA Cup final in 1914.

The game was played at Crystal Palace in front of 72,778 spectators, one of whom was King of England, George V.

Sadly, the Reds could not win the cup and were defeated 1-0 by Burnley.

Well for somebody "well versed in what's going on over the water in Britain with regards to Liverpool." you really have a LOT of points incorrect there mate.

Jaypers, where to start........

1) How do Red Sox fans feel about our legendary American institution propping up a sports club whose fans have been known to burn the stars and stripes?

If you actually KNEW why that happened (a small majority of very frustrated and long suffering fans from the city) you would KNOW that it was NOT against the USA but with regard to a certain TOM HICKS. The former owner of the Texas Rangers, you know as much about that fiasco? The Dallas Stars?

2) How do Red Sox fans feel about our legendary institution propping up a soccer club whose fans were responsible for European football's most horrific act of hooliganism? This is the knd of link we don't need.

AGAIN, totally sounding like the gutter press in England or a "fan" of such "Great teams" as Chelsea!!!! The Hysel disaster was a terrible, terrible event and yes, it is associated with Liverpool. Yet, if you knew anything about "football" in the 1980's in England you would know what happened. Most of the thugs during that were NOT Liverpool fans and more so the "bover boys/thugs" of ENGLISH football. Research the facts before making broad accusations.

3) Liverpool's football club are in freefall. Possibly they are on the brink of becoming a casuality of the world's finanacial crisis. Cancer has set in there and cancer spreads. I do not want the Red Sox putting themselves in a position whereby the cancer spreads to us and our great institution. We spent a long time getting ourselves fixed - getting into bed with a xenophobic, anti-American basket case of a sports club would be utter madness. Bailing out Liverpool would be like signing up Mike Tyson and OJ Simpson for our next PR campaign. Utter madness.

AGAIN, facts are NOT true.

Liverpool Football Club has such history, it's hard for people to comprehend. The fact that 3 years ago, Liverpool were the NUMBER 1 team in Europe rank. 2 European Cup finals in 3 years. 5 times winner of this world sought after competition. so MANY more accolades than you will ever know.

Two AMERICAN guys, Tom Hicks and George Gillett came in and bought the club on borrowed money. (Read about Tom Hicks and his failed sports ventures.) They took the mighty Reds and basically have dragged the club into a mire. Liverpool Football Club are and have been the most successful club in England. Their fans are world wide, loved by millions. Read the history of the club and you will know what they mean to the working class people of the city. Liverpool Football Club is NOT just a "Sports Franchise" is is a lot more than you know.

If you actually really were "well versed in what's going on over the water in Britain with regards to Liverpool"........

Listen, my friend, you seem to be confusing "facts" with opinions. We could look back into history and observe my favorite English club's fortunes.

Aston Villa CREATED the world's favourite game - league football. Tey were Englands NUMBER ONE, MOST SUCCESSFUL club for trophies won for EIGHT DECADES! What happened to them?

In the 1950's and 1960's they were saddled with a series of awful owners that nearly wiped the club from business. They were relegated to Division Two ad then Divison Three. Now, unlike Liverpool, Villa's fans took this on the chin. They did not issue death threats, they did not insult a nation and burn flags. With class, pride and dignity they got their act together rebuilt and got the club moving up again to become CHAMPIONS Of EUROPE only twelve years after being in Division Three!

Listen, "Slasher" (and your name tells us all we need to know about your football club), Liverpool and its fans have behaved with a total lack of class in this whole matter. They seem to think they are above the rules of competition and laws of the game. Of course, the club has some good fans, but as a body, they are militant, arrogant and represent everything that is rotten in socccer.

Burning the US Flag takes the biscuit.

Sorry, pal. Liverpool are basket case of a club. It's fans have been responsible for some of the lowest points in European soccer history. The day the Red Sox are bailin' such anti-American psycopaths out will be a cold day in hell!

JUST LETTING OUR RED SOX COLLEGES KNOW WHERE "WE" ARE COMMING FROM MATE. BOTH CLUBS HAVE A PROUD HISTORY.

MUTUAL RESPECT IS THE NAME OF THE GAME LADS, REMEMBER WE ARE ALL GUESTS ON HERE. YNWA.

One of the finest players to ever pull on the Red jersey signed for Liverpool in 1938.

Billy Liddell joined the club as an exciting 15-year-old, though the second World War meant that his official debut for the Reds did not arrive until 1946. However, the the Scotland international soon became one of the first heroes of the Kop, who nicknamed the team 'Liddellpool' in his honour.

Liddell scored over 200 goals for Liverpool and, amazingly, he never received a yellow card during his time at Anfield!

In December 1959, Bill Shankly was appointed as the manager of Liverpool FC.

The Scotsman's impact was instant and he transformed the club into one of the strongest teams in Europe.

Many believe Shankly is the greatest manager in the history of the Reds, and he is almost as well remembered for his quotes, such as "If Everton were playing at the bottom of the garden, I'd pull the curtains", as he is for his trophy successes!

It may be hard to believe but Liverpool have not always played in an all-red kit.

In fact, it wasn't until 1964 when manager Bill Shankly decided to replace the white shorts and socks with red ones as he felt an all-red kit strip would make his players look more scary to the opposition!

So, in December 1964 Liverpool wore all-red for the first time in a European Cup match with Anderlecht, changing the image of football forever.

Wembley was the venue as Liverpool recorded their first ever FA Cup final success.

After a goalless 90 minutes, Roger Hunt gave the Reds an early extra-time lead but Billy Bremner equalised for Leeds soon after. However, in the 113th minute, Ian St John scored with a diving header and the cup was heading to Liverpool.

Amazingly, Reds defender Gerry Byrne played for most of the match with a broken collarbone!

Bill Shankly guided Liverpool to a UEFA Cup final win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

The tie was played over two-legs, with the first match taking place at Anfield. Two goals from Kevin Keegan and one from Larry Lloyd gave Liverpool a 3-0 victory.

The Reds had to survive a scare in the return match in Germany as Monchengladbach scored two first-half goals. However, Liverpool were able to see out the rest of the game and win the trophy.

Bill Shankly stunned fans by announcing his decision to retire from his position as manager.

The Scotsman won three league titles, two FA Cups and one UEFA Cup during his 15-year spell as Anfield boss.

Shankly's replacement wasn't a bad one as Liverpool turned to Bob Paisley, who went on to become the most successful manager in the history of the club!
