The Yankees have included Bill Hall on their offseason wish list, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com.

Hall, who turns 31 in December, batted .247/.316/.456 with 18 home runs, 46 RBI and nine stolen bases in 344 at-bats with the Red Sox this past season. He also played six different defensive positions, so his flexibility would be valuable for any team. They obviously won't be alone in their interest -- and money and playing time will be two significant factors -- but it's worth noting that Hall works out with Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long in the offseason.

Yankees interested in Bill Hall. I'd be alright with this. He had a good season as a supersub with the sox. Although I do think he finds work as a regular somewhere else

With the emphasis on defense, he really becomes a DH. And DH's are easily platooned. I think he can get more cash elsewhere as well as more PT. Maybe he goes over there for one season, crushes 35 HRs and comes back to start on a second division club

When Joel Sherman of the New York Post discussed Derek Jeter's contract negotiations with the Yankees earlier today, he suggested that the length of an extension may currently be the sticking point. Wallace Matthews of ESPNNewYork hears the same thing. A source tells Matthews that Jeter and the Yankees disagree about the number of years, with the Yanks willing to offer three years and Jeter hoping for more than that.

According to Matthews' source, the Yankees would "give Jeter more money than his play currently warrants" over three years, but are reluctant to go any longer. The Yankee captain would like a deal that locks him up for four seasons, and maybe more. Matthews indicates, as Sherman did, that the negotiations are unfolding like a "game of chicken."

Please, please, please give him 4-5 years at 15-20M a year lol

The Yankees dealt Juan Miranda for 19 yr old RHP Scott Allen today. Like the move although wish we gave Miranda more of a chance. He's gonna be good in the desert. I can see a mid .800s OPS and 20+ homers. He's always had the bat, his problem has been his abysmal glove and his position. With Tex at 1b, Posada and Montero DHing and an aging core of vets, having a guy who is essentially a DH is not prudent, especially seeing as he is out of options.

In Allen, the Yankees got a pretty good pitcher. He was a HS draftee who took a $125K signing bonus in 2009 out of the 11th round. Sits 90-91 and tops out around 93, but is still only 19 yrs old and may add some velocity. Throws 4 pitches with a slider, curve and change. Change is plus right now and the other two are right around average maybe lower with the curve being plus potential but raw. He put up nice K and BB numbers in long season ball this past season, and dealt with a very high BABIP. Sounds like he has #3 potential and should slide into a starting role with Tampa this upcoming yr. Very happy to have gotten something out of him, although I think Miranda will pay dividends much sooner than this kid will

The Yankees acquired Cody Johnson today and DFAd Jonathan Albaladejo. Johnson is a 22 yr old with light tower power and a mediocre eye who has just had an abysmal time with strikeouts. If the Yankees can get him to avoid the K, he could be useful. He's still very young, but he is definitely a project

Sounds like Wily Mo.

Yankees signed Pitching Coach Larry Rothschild to a 3 year deal

This is great. Rothschild has been butchering pitchers in Chicago for years. CC should need some kind of major surgery by June(;))

It's a lateral move, IMO. He was the pitching coach on 2 WS teams, but also had some major blowups. He's known for emphasizing repetition of delivery, which I would assume all of them do. But I think he was specifically brought here to fix AJ and Joba

I'm sure AJ and Joba are thrilled to know that. AJ is setting a meeting with Dr. Andrews in late July and Joba is begging his agent to get him traded to KC before his shoulder explodes.

I know I'm having my fun and exaggerating. But If I was an Yankees fan, I would not happy about this move at all.

Wood got hurt long before Larry Roth got there, and Prior threw like 220 innings at age 22. How can you put that on the pitching coach, it doesn't makes sense :dunno:

Waste of a post.

Was it Rothschild's decision to let 2 young pitchers throw ridiculous innings? Last I checked, the manager makes personnel decisions. Seriously, this post is garbage

The post was a joke. Apparently your brain power is not vast enough to comprehend simple sentences. It would seem if there is any waste, it would be the oxygen you are depriving everyone else of. I just don't think Rothschild is a good PC. If they Sox had hired him, I would have reacted the same.

C'mon have we not had enough conversations for you to know I'm just joking? Yes it's a lateral move. I don't care for Rothschild and since it was the Yankees that hired him, I decided to take the "rib poking" to a higher level with my comments. I figured the ;) in parenthesis in my first post would have sent the message that I was only fooling around.

Great, so you have a PC that doesn't have the balls to stand up to the manager when the health and future of his staff is at risk because of over use. I'm liking this move more and more

That's what they call the offseason in baseball since there is so much player movement. You are going to see massive player movement over the next month or so with both the yankees and the sox getting a bunch of players

The Yankees will offer arbitration to Javy Vazquez and Kerry Wood. They will not offer arbitration to any of their other free agents. Vazquez has agreed not to accept arb as a move to allow the Yankees to snag a pick for him
Posted
Vazquez has a gentleman's agreement in place with the Yankees that he will not accept. I think the Yankees factored in a Type A payment for Javy, but now as a Type B, there is no hindrance to Javy. In terms of Wood, he would likely get a pay cut into the $8 million range after 2 up and down yrs in Cleveland, which on a 1 yr deal, I think the Yankees would gladly take. Once again, as a Type B, teams arent afraid to sign you due to draft pick comp. As a Type A, a lot of teams shy away from the second tier guys

Andy Pettitte is leaning towards returning. I would assume another incentive laden deal would be in the works. But it sounds like we have one glaring hole in that #2 spot in the rotation. If Lee comes in and fills it, you'd be hard pressed to find a better rotation.

1. Sabathia

2. Lee

3. Hughes

4. Pettitte

5. Burnett

Man, and if Burnett ever found it again, that rotation would be unreal

The game of chicken between the Yankees and Derek Jeter continued today, with GM Brian Cashman making the latest move. Cashman told ESPN's Wallace Matthews:

"We understand his contributions to the franchise and our offer has taken them into account. We've encouraged him to test the market and see if there's something he would prefer other than this. If he can, fine. That's the way it works."

And it's reported they are playing hardball with Mo as well. Not saying things won't eventually get done, but it's been a bit rockier then I thought it would be.

Stop. Lee signing in NY is a lock. People need to stop acting like there is a chance he signs elsewhere.
