NESN just showed a graphic listing the active leaders in innings pitched. Moyer was first, Wakefield was second but I was surprised to see that Pettitte was third and Vazquez was fifth. There's your useless bit of trivia for the day.

As Michael Kay mentioned on the broadcast, with Randy Winn and Ramiro Pena having the biggest ABs the last two games, the Yankees are starting to the weight on the injuries.

The positive is obviously Vazquez, who pitched very well. Additionally, they suffered from a little bit of bad luck, as A-Rod's ball in the third was really knocked down by the wind, and Vazquez got hurt by a couple ground ball singles.

Vazquez made a great start against a good hitting team. He did a good job limiting the damage after back-to-back walks to the 7th and 8th hitters in the fifth inning and then back-to-back leadoff singles in the sixth. The offense just didn't back him up.

Today Wakefield became the fourth active pitcher to reach 2,000 strikeouts, joining Jamie Moyer, Javier Vazquez and Andy Pettitte.

Eminem and Jay-Z will announce the dates for a two-show stand that will include a date at Yankee Stadium and Comerica Park -- a home-and-home series for Detroit's Eminem and New York's Jay-Z in September, during the third inning of tonight's game between the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees on ESPN

It isnt April anymore. Hughes throws 7 more stellar innings. The offense comes to life late in the game to salvage the split. And Javy was downright awesome today too in a losing effort. Good news, even in the loss. CC vs Verlander tomorrow should be good.

And Joba continues to show his old form.

With the shake included.

Such an embarrassment lol.

He's like the Richard Simmons of radio broadcasters. The best part about his calls though is how he gives a "it is far! it is deep! it is... caught" call pretty much every game.

Yankees signed RHP Tim Redding to a minor league contract; optioned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

That was quick. Redding was released by the Rockies just hours ago, and even fielded offers from the Dodgers and a few Korean teams before settling with Yankees. He had a 4.32 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP in 25 innings at Triple-A Colorado Springs this season before his release and, barring something unforeseen, is unlikely to climb his way onto the Yanks' 25-man roster.

I was at his lone Yankees outing at Fenway Park. One of the two 17-1 wins against the Yankees in 2005

Yeah, Redding's pretty much as bad as it gets. Not only does he have a career ERA of nearly 5, but he was released from the Nationals and then the Mets. 'Nuf said.

It seems like a minor league fodder move. The timing of it is strange since Vazquez just had a good start and I haven't heard anything about Pettitte's injury being worse than expected. I can't see him being made a reliever since he doesn't have any plus pitches.

Good day today' date=' even though we lost one and could very well lose another today.[/quote']

The homerism is gross.

It isn't April anymore... but it's still only May as Dipre pointed out to a Red Sox poster in another thread about Austin Jackson.

Here's a goal... try spending one day, even one thread, where you don't try to spin every single Yankee event into the second coming of Derek Jeter's birth.

What's the fun of being a Yankees fan on a Red Sox site if you don't try to spin every single insignificant Yankees event as the greatest thing to ever happen to the Yankees and every single insignificant Red Sox event as a sign that they're a below .500 team? Come on now!

Huuuuuuuuughes.

Hughes is a great pitcher but eventually his .213 BABIP is going to explode on him and he'll revert to this 3.86 xFIP.

6 consecutive outings allowing 2 runs or less. 5-0. Yeah, sorry, dont see the downside here. But continue to be bitter, I love it

The Yankees have called up two of Scranton's starters within one week in Sanchez and Nova. Granted, Sanchez is back with SWB, but the idea remains. We needed AAA fodder and now we have it.

The worst is when he goes into the homer calls late in the game on foul balls. Then, you get home, watch the replay and can see that it was foul by a good 20 feet. He's a douche. And Waldman, jesus christ, Waldman is a shitstorm of epic proportions. She only got the job because she whined, now we cannot get rid of her. The two of them think that they are baseball royalty, but in reality, they are the laughingstock of the media world. I will certainly celebrate the day the two of them leave, so long as Buck doesnt take the esteemed job. He might be the one guy I would want to listen to least. I'd rather have slingblade announce the games

He wont have a 1.5ERA forever. But his location and his stuff make him a good bet every time out to win some games

It looks completely silly and I will admit that I was completely wrong. Joba looks like the Joba of 2007 again and Hughes looks like the guy we thought he could be. The crazy thing is that Hughes' stuff is getting better start to start. His FB velocity is rising and his control is improving. He surpassed 6IP once in his first 3 starts, while walking 11 and striking out 18 in 18IP. In his last 3 starts, he's passed 6IP each time, while walking only 3 and striking out 22 in 21.2IP. He's now faced two solid, patient offenses in a row, and allowed only 1 walk each time out. He's learning folks.

What is so ridiculous about what Jacko said? He's right, win or lose, yesterday was a good day for the Yankees because Vazquez finally put together a good start. Not only is there nothing wrong with Jacko's statement, but it's 100% accurate.

I'd wait a bit before proclaiming that the 2007 version of Joba is back. Now, his last two outings are very promising, but, in my opinion, those are his only outings this year that have looked like his 2007 outings.
