  1. I like interleague play. It's kind of fun to watch AL managers have to play by NL rules and it's a good boost to our record every year getting to play AAAA teams.
  2. I think this is a good thing. Drew being up front about his tweaks and minor dings, and the front office being cautious with his injuries has allowed him to stay relatively healthy over his contract with the Red Sox. Like multiple other posters said, I'd rather he miss 2 innings than try to play hurt and miss a month.
  3. This sucks. We were just about to get healthy.
  4. As for the bullpen, Schoeneweis, Atchison and Van Every have given up over a third of the earned runs that the bullpen has surrendered and I doubt they're going to be pitching many more games for us.
  5. Yankee Stadium was the emptiest I've ever seen it for a Red Sox series the last two nights. I think a large part of it is the fact that the Yankees charge such ridiculous prices for the good seats, and another part of it is that it seems like many of the Yankees fans in the good seats like to get there late and leave early.
  6. Beltre now has a UZR/150 of 10. Well above average but still well below his career averages, he should only get better.
  7. You didn't actually say the word umpire, but you've made at least 3 posts saying that he could have struck out McDonald an a called ball that pithfx shows as off the plate.
  8. Yeah, I have the feeling the Japanese faked his success so they could get a $50 million posting fee to pay for more high speed rail
  9. I understand that Rivera routinely gets calls that are 2-3 inches off the plate, but according to pitchfx, that pitch to McDonald was 2-3 inches off the plate. His overall results weren't that bad considering the error, but his control is off and he's coming off an appearance in which he walked in a run and allowed a grand slam. That's not typical Mo and he's coming off an injury. I think there's a very good chance that he's no 100%, he's inhuman when he's healthy. EDIT: And overall he didn't get the benefit of two "Mo" strikes (2-3 inches off the plate), but he also got the benefit of two called strikes that were more than 2-3 inches off the plate as you can see from this graph. The two called strikes you can see to the left of the box are 3.5 inches off the plate so it's hard to blame this one on the umps. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/cache/location.php-pitchSel=121250&game=gid_2010_05_18_bosmlb_nyamlb_1&batterX=&innings=yyyyyyyyy&sp_type=1&s_type=.gif
  10. They're not bench players anymore. With Johnson out indefinitely, they're now everyday players. That's kind of why it's being discussed...
  11. Just out of curiosity, what part of the game did you protest?
  12. Yeah, he didn't look like his old self. I'm not saying he'll have to go on the DL, but it doesn't appear that he's been 100% lately. When's the last time he walked in a run and allowed a grand slam in the same game?
  13. I agree. As good as this win was, it's disconcerning how bad Papelbon's velocity/control has been the last two games. It seems like something might be wrong with him physically. He's a guy that's had some issues with his shoulder in the past, and a bad shoulder might as well be a death sentence for a pitcher.
  14. Guilty as charged. When I get my adrenaline pumping and I have some alcohol in me, I can be a huge jerk.
