I agree with Keeper, I had been telling my roomate (a Yankee fan) that it was a mistake to put Joba in the rotation when they did, and I think it screwed up his ability to go back to being a good reliever (temporarily). Granted, I was wrong on Phil Hughes, so it evens out.

Well, no matter what happened in the past, the Yankees aren't the same team as they were last year without a solid setup man (and a solid bullpen as a whole). With Joba ineffective, Robertson ineffective (and now hurt), and Aceves hurt, they're a long way from being in the position that they were in last year.

Holy f***ing s***, i take my painkillers, go take a nap, (Yanks are winning 9-3), i come back and they're losing 13-10. How the f*** did that happen?

When David Huff was being carted off the field and gave a thumbs up it gave them inspiration.

suns, one tries not to be rude to you, but seriously, if you're going to say something like that, you might as well keep your mouth shut.

So it wasn't poor execution, lack of command, luck, or any other logical explanation, but "inspiration"?

K got it.

Be careful what you wish for.

The Yankees need to fix their bullpen problem, and fast. It's one thing to be blowing one or two run leads, but it has gotten to the point where no lead is safe with this pen.

The pen needs fresh guys. Try Melancon, Sanchez, Nova... One of them has to pan out.

I hate that he uses Marte as a LOOGY, when they signed him for a 12/3 deal.

Couple things in the aftermath of the nuclear meltdown after reading....

First thing, Joba needs to go to AAA. Sorry, but it is true. He came up what appeared to be a finished pen product in 2007. In 2008, we f***ed around with him and got him hurt. In 2009, we move him to the rotation where he shows promise, but ultimately f*** around with him again around the break and he loses all effectiveness. Now, we move him back to the pen full time only to see him continue to be inconsistent, potentially due to sporadic work. Time to send him to Scranton for a couple weeks. Have him throw 2IP every 3 days and let him get into a rhythm.

Secondly, use Mitre as more than just a one batter guy. He's been very, very good this season, probably since he is completely back from his TJS. Move him up the pecking order.

Third, DL Robertson. I dont care if he only needs 5 days, put him on the DL and let him get a bunch of rehab work in. He started off the yr too wild, he needs to get consistent before he is useful.

Fourth, call up Melancon. The guy has done nothing but completely dominate the minors and his outings in the bigs have been few and far between. Give him a legitimate chance and he'll be solid

Fifth, DFA Boone Logan. He is a second loogy on a team that needs reliever who can actually pitch more than 1 batter at a time. His lack of effectiveness vs righties and his lack of control make him a liability.

Sixth, bring up Albaladejo. I know he was garbage last yr, but he was coming off a stress fracture in his elbow, those take time to heal. He is absolutely dominating AAA this yr, time to give him a shot.

Seventh, and this one is dicey, but move Park up in the pecking order as well. I know, I know, he single handedly blew two games, but in his last outing yesterday, his velocity was back up, which is a sign that he's back. I'd have Park set-up and Mitre the 7th inning guy for now. Have Melancon be your next most used pen arm until he works his way in, and by the latter end of June bring Joba back up. We have a ton of options with live arms from AA up. We cannot afford to be complacent and let big league struggles ruin games.

Eighth, troll the waters for tradeable pen commodities. Right now, it is probably barren. Eventually, I expect Heath Bell to be available, which would be a hell of a transition point, but right now, we gotta hold our own.

I told you all on here that Aceves was the glue that held this pen together. Well, he might be out for the season if he needs back surgery, and this is what we are left with. He covered up a TON of mistakes last yr, taking the ball in the middle innings and just holding court until the latter part of the game when we would come back. We need to try and figure things out without him

Wow! You are all worked up.

The big difference in the Yankee bullpen this year is that Hughes is in the rotation.

What the f***? I go out with a 9-3 lead and we lose to this f***ing scrub team? Girardi should be canned for this mess

What angers you more: The Yanks' blowing the lead or knowing suns was simultaneously jumping for joy?

The yankees blowing the lead by far. My guess is that suns jumps for joy on a daily basis wearing a helmet and a hand decorated T-shirt with "Indainz" scrawled in red, kindergarten-style font

Meltdown Lester? Nah, I've had way bigger meltdowns before, ask most of the members here or even those who knew me from the BH forums. I just think that this bullpen is reeling from the inconsistency of Joba in a crucial spot and the injuries to Aceves, Park, and now Robertson. The thing that gets me more than anything is the complacency that this team has shown in terms of the pen. It's been a problem spot since the beginning of the yr. Now, we have key members falling injured or imploding on the mound in big spots, while guys with live arms and big league futures just languish in the minors.

Just to go over contingency plans here...

Romulo Sanchez came up for one game and pitched very well. Since his promotion and newfound mechanics, he is throwing very, very well. He throws 96-100mph and is starting to locate. Could he be better than Boone Logan?

Mark Melancon has dominated every level of the minor leagues since he came back from TJS in 2008. But every time he makes it to the bigs, he gets 1 or 2 garbage time spots over a 2-3 week course then gets shipped back. Eventually you have to give the kid a chance. He is a hell of a prospect, throwing low 90s with tons of movement and a plus change and curve.

Ivan Nova is throwing as a starter in AAA, but he looks to have a pen career. Throws low to mid 90s, has great sink on the ball and has a pretty nice curveball and change. He also has shown he locates well through his career, although this yr has been more shaky than usual.

Jonathan Albaladejo is a guy we dealt Tyler Clippard for 2 seasons ago, and look at how Clip is doing these days. Albaladejo has a live arm, good stuff and has essentially had an injury marred MLB resume to this point. Well, he's healthy and dominating in AAA, is he better than Boone Logan?

How about Royce Ring? Live arm, lefty, dominating AAA. How about him>

Brilliant move by the idiot manager, Acta taking out Masterson with 2 outs and 2 on in the 7th inning. Masterson's stuff was great today. He was throwing ground balls all day long. The reliever gives up a 3-run bomb to his first batter.

He did give up a 2 run single to derek jeter before he got took out..but I agree with you he shouldn't have gotten taken out.

He gave up a single to Jeter (who has the most hits in Yankee history) and it was on a low pitch that Jeter went down to get. He clearly wasn't losing it.

This Yankee offense is frustrating at time. Nothing for 6 innings, then as soon as we get down by more than 1 run, we start having good ABs. It's great that we won, but how bout we put together a good, top to bottom win from start to finish? They're the f***ing Guardians, we should kill them

I think the exact opposite...I think the Guardians could kill the yankees any day they want...but most of the days they don't have the mindset to.

this must be intentional. If it isnt, then you're adam123. Sorry, but this kind of idiocy has been breached only once before.
