Mauer's back problems are chronic, and Martin can't provide the offensive value that Mcann can, he's a power hitter and RBI man from the C position, with solid batting average and no important injuries that suggest him being sidelined with regularity in the near future, and , of course he's also just 24.

Kemp was my next pick, i was hoping he'd fly under the radar all the way to me, damn you ORS.

Haren is a but of a reach this early IMO, but he'l provide consistency to yankees228's rotation for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, well I admit that the second round might have been a bit early to take him. But I guess the thing is that I view him as an ace, and someone that will only improve. His strikeout, walk, and home run numbers are excellent.

And after starting off well in his first two years with the A's, he has really taken off in his last two with the A's and the D-Backs. I guess I view it as giving me more than just consistency.

I think people are scared by Mauer's size and what we're hearing about his back. Mauer isn't as tempting if there's a chance he might wind up at 1B for health reasons.

That's fine but remember that we're building a hypothetical team here and not a fantasy team. If you're drafting McCann to be a 3 or 4 hitter then so be it, but I think there are better alternatives. If you take Martin, you've got a guy who's a better OBP guy than McCann and can hit almost anywhere in the lineup with the added bonus of 15-20 steals a year.

I have a question about relief pitchers. Obviously, we'll be drafting closers, but since this is anti-fantasy should we also try to put a legitimate bullpen together with middle relievers and setup men?

Yes but Mcann is the better hitter IMHO and takes some pressure off of me in the later rounds since i already have my 5th man, because a strong central line is the basis of any good team.

What the f***'s a loogy?

Example: Mike Myers.

Javier Lopez doesn't qualify because that son of a bitch always walks the first f***ing batter.

So as to not clutter the picks thread: Is it a 24 or 48 hour window to make picks? My vote (meaningless as it may be) is 24, but the person who missed their pick can make it up at any time after the window.

I could be wrong but I think TheKilo declared a 24 hour window.

my understanding is that its still a 48 hour window but the idea of making it a 24 hour window was brought up...

48 HOURS!!!!!!

I stand corrected. Thanks for clearing that up.

Joe Morgan convinced me to pick Cano. Actually, it was position scarcity and the fact that he'll be a Top 5 offensive second baseman for many years to come. And this year so far he's walking more. That's something I'd like to see more of. Also, his work ethic isn't highly regarded. So, he definitely has his drawbacks, but his upside for me was too hard to ignore.
