I'm not worried about seeing who has and hasn't picked, I just think it'll be much cleaner + efficient, especially if Kilo isn't on for a while and has to scroll through a bunch of discussion to find 2 picks.

He's the best pitcher in baseball' date=' has been for about five years, and is a good bet to be such for the next three or four.[/quote']

Agree with the first half, disagree with the second, which is why I don't pick him. It's rare that a pitcher is the best in the game for a period of longer than 5-6 years, and Johan is approaching the end of that typical window. Your choice, Lincecum, or another up-and-coming pitcher would have been mine for the next five years.

I agree that Lincecum is the better choice to be the best pitcher over the next five years but I think Santana can be dominant for at leat the next three and probably the next four.

the fact that he's never had significant health issues and his move to the NL increases his chances of maintaining his dominance over another five years though

I also would have picked Lincecum over Santana. The only problem I have with Lincecum is I think he throws harder than his body can handle. There aren't too many guys like Pedro out there. For Lincecum's sake, I hope he has a rubber arm - or fills out a little.

That said, I expect Santana will still be Santana for another 2-3 years. After that, he may start to wear down.

I'd like to play if there was room.

God forbid someone actually watches the game instead of track everything with pitch f/x or gamecast, or whatever.

For all you guys that actually played baseball behind tee-ball and your experience with the game is more than Xbox, watch Posada and Molina behind the plate, and take a look at how different they are behind the plate.

Ughhhhhh.

How are watching games and analyzing the game mutually exclusive? I play baseball, I watch baseball and I read BP, FanGraphs, etc. Analyzing it doesn't take away from my watching experience, it adds to it.

^^Not a bad idea' date=' maybe the mods can split[/quote']

If you confirm you want this, I'll do it.

i hope ORS shits all over me

I picked James Shields -- inning burning, durable, just entering his prime, excellent command, an up and comer with a shot at really being great and a very good chance of at least being solidly effective in the American League East -- no small feat itself.

If I really was building a team, Shields is the kind of guy I'd want pitching for it. He gets his work done, doesn't get himself in trouble very often, and saves the bullpen, all very important considerations when you're looking for an ace.

There are probably other higher-upside picks such as Lincecum but Shields is about the lowest-risk pick out there for a pitcher, and if you're picking a pitcher, managing risk is important.

I took OF Ryan Braun.

Quickest ever to 100 career RBI(Pujols being #2).... Nuff said

Straight cash homie

Fine with your reasoning, but you could have gotten Shields much later IMO.

Doesn't get on base enough for my liking

He will get better with more experience, He's only been in the league a year and a half.

Perhaps so but Shields suits my preferred kind of baseball with his good command and fundamentals, and I wanted to make sure and get a guy like that to anchor the rotation. Was gonna go for Halladay but I took a good look at Shields and figured he was slot-appropriate and probably a better risk in year 5.

I tend to do my best damage in the later rounds anyway.

Halladay is in his prime, but he's heading out of it. Shields is just entering it. So I see your general reasoning.

Besides, I've posted here long enough that you guys have an idea how I roll. Did you REALLY think I was going to go for the spotlight-hogs, big-K pitchers and franchise thunderbats?
