...and whoever's playing the Yankees - 2008 Game Thread

I almost forgot how much Pedro is a shell of his former self. Running Giese and Ponson out there, I'll take the split.

Let's see if Andy can step up and beat Johan tomorrow afternoon. Should be a fun game.

It is time for Melky to be a bench player. I'd much rather see Gardner in there everyday for now, and to put Damon back in center when Matsui comes back.

another evening of goin thru the motions for the beasts of the east

tampa is going fo the throat for 9 innings and we weren prepared for a big series this week

they should be embarassed but at this point no one is playing better than tampa

as for the yanks?

kevin millwood and the guy from last nite shouldnt handcuff these guys

they too are playing as if it dont matter

time to wake up because there aint any cherry picking in the american league this year and big streaks just aint happeni this summer

Girardi is stupid.

I was checking on relief pitcher ERA in save and non-save situations for Tito, and I discovered that his relief pitchers have very slightly higher ERAs in save situations. Girardi's relief pitchers have a 1.80 ERA in save situations and a 4.31 ERA in non-save situations.

If Girardi is stupid, what does that make Terry Francona? :dunno:

tito best get control of his clubhouse

manny f***in up

youkillis acting like a giabrone, these guys flatter than day old opened ginger ale

i dont know what gives here but this is going to be a long, frustrating summer if they dont get their motors running.

i never liked francona in the begining of his sox career but his last 2 seasons he's done a good job.

this year they had a difficult start which can be blamed on MLB and this ridiculous travel they were put thru but the last 2 weeks, even against AAA ball players, they havent had the spark.

tampa attacked them and we been backpeddaling

time for tito to get more personally involved i say....

and it should start with all world dice K going more than 4.2 innings with 115 pitches and 6 bbs.

Good time for the offense to make its return. Especially since, as the Yankees score nine runs in the bottom of the seventh, the Sox seem to be heading in the opposite direction down in Tampa. We can only hope the trend continues this weekend.

But I won't hold my breath...wouldn't be shocked to see the Sox come into the Bronx and end up taking 3.

Girardi kept the clubhouse closed for over 30 minutes after tonight's pathetic effort. Wouldn't want to be on the end of whatever he was spewing...

What good do those things do? It's not football or basketball or hockey where you can apply pressure and get more physical...

Do you really think the meeting had something to do with it? Three of those wins were by 1 run. In two of those the tying run was at 3rd with less than two outs and Jason Varitek up. I'd suggest the fact that it was Varitek has much more bearing on the success than the meetings do.

what has happened is our bullpen has been fantastic. Since getting crushed by the Mutts, our pen has allowed 5ER in 41.2IP and has a sub 1 WHIP. The funny thing is, of those 5 runs, Mo is responsible for 3 of them

Mo had everything to do with it. He almost singlehandedly has saved the Yankees season-- at least temporarily. The Yankees have not played any better. Their run production is still down. Girardi has decided to use Mo for two innings at a clip to save the season. That is a temporary fix.
