  1. Not the same lineup that slumped in September. We lost Abreu, Anthony, Casas, Mayer, and Bregman may or may not have been suffering lingering effects of his injury. And we still ranked 10th in OPS over the final 28 days.
  2. Painter is twice the size of Sale. I get the idea that you want legit strong guys on the mound, but it is not an iron-clad rule.
  3. Fair enough, but imo, people are giving up on Hamilton too quickly. A lot of his overall .590 was due to his very low .234 BABIP. But he still managed a 1.1 bWAR in only 177 ABs.
  4. After I posted, I realized that I probably should've stipulated that Ranger was my example, not Eugenio. IRT to Campbell, my concern is on position, not talent. He's never going to be an OFer or a 2B for us. And TBH, yeah, slightly concerned about his hitting. If we can package Campbell + Abreu or Duran, we can acquire some real good pitching, and still not be at all concerned about the OF.
  5. He had 6 HR?s in 158 ABs v righties with a 41/13 K/W. With his speed, that will play up. Just for fun, compare these two sets of numbers. Player A 311 ABs, 5 HRs, 103/18 K/W Player B 471 ABs 14 HRs, 127/35 K/W One is the first two seasons of Hamilton and one is the first two seasons of Duran.
  6. FWIW, before the TJS, I considered Painter the 2nd best pitching prospect behind Skenes, and not that far behind Skenes either.
  7. It's only 3 seasons according to BR. If this was vintage Painter, I probably make that move. Would you trade Abreu for Bubba Chandler? Chase Burns? I'd make either of those moves.
  8. He doesn't block anyone. We have 4 outfielders that should never be considered DH's. Trade one for pitching and the OF/DH is set.
  9. It's be $57M when they non-tender Lowe. If they wrap up Campbell in a trade for an SP, they'll have $64M. That would be more than enough for Alonso + Suarez plus a couple of minor pieces.
  10. I said at the time that this was the right price. And even at that price, I liked it because I liked Bogaerts, not because I thought it was a good deal.
  11. I doubt Chaim had any intention of extending him. IMO, it was going to be either Bogaerts or Devers. No doubt in my mind.
  12. Masa is a nothing-burger. If he is healthy, he can land a 110 OPS+. He's overpaid, that's all, and not even tremendously overpaid.
  13. I like Hamilton a lot. He has a 3.7 bWAR in 471 ABs over the past 2 years, can run, field, and at least owns a SS glove for an odd start. His only real issue, and it's big, is that he cannot hit lefties.
  14. I doubt you get Painter for Duran, unless DD knows Painter is damaged goods.
  15. $110M/4 sounds slightly, but certainly close enough. But we should still target a #2 in a trade for Duran+ or Abreu+. We need two SPs.
  16. I agree. He's only just 19, so there is time, but imvho, just focus on pitching. Get velo up to a consistent 98 and see what happens.
  17. I'd guess that the chances of us offering him arb is about -0-. Over the past three years, he's averaged 17 HRs with a .252, he's a lefty, slow and doesn't provide a lot of defense. He gone.
  18. I'm not sue why the RS would be cautiously optimistic. We're probably slightly better off if he leaves. He had a fine year, but it was his first one in a while. I wouldn't bet on him being as healthy or productive going forward.
  19. I don't like that he's a lefty, and his contract is about 3 years too long. We can get similar overall production from Alonso for shorter years at a younger age.
  20. It is situation-dependent. If the NYY, NYM, LAD and Philly pass on Alonso, we will have best chance of signing him. But even that depends on our other needs. If we sign Cease, then our chances of adding Alonso falls quite a bit.
  21. If they non-tendered him, he'd be gone tomorrow. He stays.
  22. Casas. In the three years prior to 2025, Casas had a 126 OPS+ and nominally plays a position.
  23. I'll put this in the Realmuto category of "anything can happen, but is extremely unlikely".
  24. I'm not sure how many teams commit a lot of money to DHs. And I don't think Philly has the money for both Alonso and Schwarber.
  25. You could easily be right. Great talent, but mediocre results. Maybe with a better pitching coach, of is he a head case? And only two years left. It's crazy how hot and cold he runs.
