    My amateur guess is: Eyanson was a #87 pick. His reputation has increased quite a bit, despite having only 68 minor league innings. His A+ results were outstanding, but his 11.3/4.3 K/W in AA, were good, but not great. Witherspoon had a 9.3/4.1 in A+. Azocar had a 55/16 K/W in A+.

    In your mind, yes. In my mind, no. No one knows but Breslow, but I'd bet that the fact that AR has a great history trumps the fact that he has a more mediocre current history.

    I'm arguing that name and pedigree are different. No one cares that Betts has a great name. But they will take a look at his current results, and use his past history to determine if his future results will be better or worse.

    Paying for his name? Absolutely not. Considering his pedigree when trying to project future results. Absolutely yes.

    You can ignore pedigree if you want, but imho, it's a factor. FWIW, Vaughn and Bleday were draft #3 and #4. Teams likely acquired them because they thought that they had the raw talent.

    All failed prospects are a missed opportunity. That's the cost of doing business. But there was nothing in his resume that suggested we should trade him at the end of 2025. A .674 OPS for a 22 year old rookie, with a good glove and SS skills, is fine. Good bat speed and EV.

    I'd love to be a half-game up and leave with a split. That would win us the season series.

    It feels like a fair amount of concern about a 27 year old 19th round draft pick. My guess is that every team has guys like this in the minors.

    I'd go the minor league route, as you had mentioned earlier. Demote them for 10 days each and let them miss a start or two. Have Bello do his bulk reliever thing maybe twice for each. That takes us to September when we can review the status of Crochet and where we are in the standings. There's no doubt in my mind that B&B have reviewed this and have a plan.

    .750 since 4/21, ten days earlier. He has a career .756 and a current year .764. I have no reason to think that's not an appropriate range.

    The prospect status and ranking go towards pedigree. And as I mentioned 'The injuries are a risk', and presumably factored into the price.

    For some reason, this feels like one of the more roster-challenged deadlines I've seen. Correct me if I miss something: We currently have 12 position players on the 26 and that doesn't include Narvaez. Rutschman takes the #13 spot. White is almost an automatic add. So demote Sogard, I think? Romy, just to get him in the zone again? And just so while I'm playing with the roster, does Miller make the 26, or do they send him down for Bailey to look at? Or send Bennett or Tolle down for two weeks?

    Not really. Like with all players, you extrapolate his results and assess his injuries. They aren't saying "oh, It's Rutschman!".

    Not necessarily. If a team is looking to compete, the recency factor is important. IMHO, Duran is a better move for a team that has given up on 2026.

    Maybe they play everyday because we have no one that can play CF or RF?

    I don't disagree, but part of that is offset by AR having a great defensive reputation and knowing all the ALE hitters.

    The rumor was that the hold up in the trade was the medicals, and that makes 100% sense. But there is also a slight chance that they might've wanted to discuss an extension before finalizing.

    Adley is among the best prospects I have ever seen. He went from #1/1 to #1 prospect. The injuries are a risk, but as I said even before the trade, Adley might still be the best all-around catcher in baseball.

    That was DD's superpower-trading suspect prospects for value before the rest of the league got clued in. Not many prospects wither and die on the vine with DD.

    A lot of fans were critical of trading for an injured player.

    Rankings and ratings are two different things. If you have a bad draft class, you could be ranked #1, but rated #100 in the minors.

    The Cubs had a very good day, imo. I'm not sure what happened to Detmers, but if you add those three to Civale and Peterson, they replaced their entire rotation in about one month, with mostly #3 types, but they should continue to rack up the wins. The Zeferjahn trade looked reachy. I like Ballesteros.
