  1. I understand trading kids away, but long-term success is built on development. And if I were to trade away highly-ranked prospects, I'd prefer it to be for a black swan SP like Crochet.
  2. Most teams had already passed on him. If he has any trade value, the Nats, Rox, etc., would've claimed him and traded him.
  3. He had to keep Song on the roster for the entire season. Song had 17 IPs in A-, hadn't pitched in 3 years, and was on the IL. He wasn't going to take a slot in the Phillies BP.
  4. So Fred was right and we spent to much money on the offense?
  5. I'm an agnostic on DD, but that was borderline criminal. Song had no chance of making the Phillies. He had no chance of making anyone's roster. DD did this to try to hurt the RS and couldn't have cared less what the impact on Song would be
  6. Ouch! If it is okay with you, I am going to blame auto-correct.
  7. It was a hypothetical based on extending him and his arbitration awards. My concern was that his final year might be a lot higher now based on the new rules.
  8. That should've sounded wrong as you wrote it.
  9. But as his agent, my argument is that he should be compared to CFs, since he has shown that ability. Since we are in combine season, it's like asking the tweener players you represent to line up with groups that get paid better.
  10. Some of this stuff drives me crazy. Every LH minor league hitter should be able to drop a mediocre bunt down the 3rd base line for a single. You have 3Bs lining up at the SS position because they have no fear of you bunting.
  11. But no team is going to stray away from small ball because it is more or less exciting. BB is a sport created by and for accountants. If the spreadsheet says to bunt, you bunt. And apropos of nothing, but I think BB fans get excited by any good play, in any sport.
  12. It went out of style because Tito rejected it. We went from 24 sacs to 12 sacs. And went from 35 CS to 30 to 12. That's not to say that these cannot be used, but that they should be used in limited context.
  13. Actually, what I said is that I'd make that argument in arbitration. The RS, presumably, will argue that he is a mediocre fielder at a very easy position (LF at Fenway). So I would make the counter argument that that fact has nothing to do with Duran's value. Duran is not playing LF because he couldn't handle CF. He is playing LF because the RS have a platinum glove in CF. I also think I think more l/t than some in here. So being much better 4-5-6 years from now is a lot more important than being slightly better in the next 1-2-3 years.
  14. If/when Duran hires me as his agent, I'd argue just the opposite. I'd say that Duran is the 2nd best CF in BB, but only gets relegated to LF because the RS have a platinum level CF in Ceddanne. And no, it doesn't have to be true, it only has to be possible.
  15. It use to be. When Rice had 400+ total bases, it was the first time in a long time since anyone hit 400, if ever. Even since then, outside of the cheaters and the Rox, I think only Ohtani has accomplished it.
  16. Using WAR as a placeholder. Over the past three years: Player A 75 2B, 9 3B, 74 HR, (158 xbh), 244 runs, 234 RBIs Player B 123 2B, 39 3B, 45 HR, (197 xbh), 243 runs, 199 RBIs Everyone will say that Tuckers, but I can make a pretty good case that it's close.
  17. So long as we get 1-2 option years. I think one of the really big changes, thanks to Skubal, that it is going to become standard to base your year 3 arb on existing contracts, and less on player history. Duran had a higher bWAR than Tucker, last year, over the past two years, and over the past three years. And Tucker got $60M per for his efforts. If Duran has 2 good years (not even great years), I don't care to speculate what that might be worth.
  18. to me, while I wouldn't admire a short HR, I don't care. But it has to be a real shot. Not some rinky-dink 360 footer. Everyone gets one of those. If you hit it 450 feet, then I don't care.
  19. That was the highlight point for me. He looked really good. I thought Bennett looked good. Oviedo is one big dude.
  20. I'll be happy if KC improves enough to threaten the starters. It would be a heck of thing if Duran ever became our #5 outfielder.
  21. None of that ever made any sense to me. One burger, one bun, then the toppings. If you make them thin, you can't make the burger rare. And why a second burger instead of bacon (for the lucky few), cheese, guac, jalapenos, fried mushrooms, fried onions?
  22. I like Duran. He's in great shape, looks like a gym rat, and always runs full-out.
  23. I see Romy doing a lot of DH short-side platooning. Assuming Mayer is ready, I see IKF platooning with MM. But if Romy is out, I don't see any other RH hitters worth platooning at DH. So I expect Duran to play every game until Romy returns.
  24. I thought you were going to say you saw him live.
