    I always said this. I root for our guys, even after they leave. But if Harrison and Durbin both become AS's, good for both of us. And it is probably almost meaningless, but other GMs could be influenced by the success of our guys after they leave. It shows that we are dealing talent, and not just scrubs.

    He's a fine hitter. Good eye, good power, even if he can't field. But I wonder if he is taking his recovery seriously. I have no backup for that, but with numerous setbacks, and he wasn't in great shape to begin with, it makes me wonder.

    There's no reason to get rid of Yoshida. He's probably more valuable to us than anything we'd get back. And we probably can't get rid of Story. But I can't help but think that Atlanta might be interested. They seem to always be on the lookout for a new SS, and it seldom works out. Maybe they'll think they can re-capture the Sale magic and have some positive reversion.

    I am still shaking my head about when he told everyone he was swinging a bat. Then said he was swinging 'in his mind'. I think we've passed the one-year anniversary of that pronouncement, and he still isn't swinging a bat. I don't mind folks being eclectic, but he was just screaming not to be taken seriously.

    I rarely watch with the sound on. The RS announcers are usually good, but if I catch the wrong feed, some other announcers just never shut up. Let the game explain itself. Or provide a little statcast data. Don't drone on about players thinking this and that, or trying to peak into their brains.

    Some of these articles are written by people that know nothing about baseball. The crown (same as in the off-season) goes to the team that picked up the most guys, or the shiniest toys. If Mil had traded their top four prospects for Skubal, they'd have gotten an A.

    This was a great TDL by the Cubs. They picked up 5 SPs, their entire rotation, in a matter of a couple of weeks.

    That's why I'm an accountant. I'd have yelled at the cab driver, re-shot the scene, and patted myself on the back for providing leadership.

    The true sign of genius is having something that doesn't work and seem completely random, and just going with it. In Hollywood, some legendary scenes are lines that simply went awry, but worked perfectly. And a director confident enough to go with something that was planned to begin with.

    It is merely an oddity that he cannot pitch the 1st. But almost overlooked is how dominant he is in relief. He's got some talent, but right now, he has a better relief ERA than Mason Miller.

    B. Too early on the Rutschman trade, and it could easily be a trade both sides win. I like Early/Mead, but most of all because I suspect Early's long-term health, and Mead fits really well. I like the Mayer trade a lot more now than I did. He was unlikely to make the team in 2027, and my guess is that his value is more likely to decline than increase. And getting someone that can contribute today adds some value. The White trade was likely to support and rest players until Anthony (hopefully) returns. And if you are worried about trading Uberstine, you might as well cancel your cell plan.

    It could be almost anything, but our 2027 infield is accounted for, without including Story, Monasterio, Seigler, Romy, Cheng or Sogard. By my reckoning, that's three starters, 2 UIF, and three minor leaguers. It's not just a 26-man problem, but a 40-man problem.

    Everyone wanted Sale gone. And everyone wanted a 2B (and still do). Sometimes I wonder about my memory. Until I come in here and realize that no one remembers anything.

    Any time you are dealing with near-coinflip decisions, you will be dealt near random outcomes.

    Just like with our over-abundance of pitching, baseball karma typically addresses these problems herself. As someone else said, if everyone keeps playing like they are, then who to cut/demote is a good problem.

    He was too quiet last June 25. But his work in the off-season was nothing but home runs so far. You probably should've had something positive to say.
