Manny was paid plenty of money, and he was never expected to play chummy with the media, but there were plenty of other guys around to do that unlike now with Raffy, or unlike when Bogey was here who did the talking. Poor Raffy, but right now he’s the face of the franchise whether that face is spitting out seeds, chawing tobacco, or whether he’s hitting HR, or striking out with the bases loaded.

1967 was a fight for the ages with the Twins, and Red Sox at Fenway for the final weekend of the season fighting for 1 spot to play in the WS along with Detroit, and the Pale Sox. 1 spot with 4 teams fighting going right down to the last out with the Red Sox winning out. Toddlers sounds right with the way both a going. Both had better teams in 1967.- 10 replies

As it turned out yes, but one game against the juggernaut White Sox is still meh to me. Just like the zRed Sox winning 2-3. Meh.

Bought, and PAID for by the Boston Red Sox, but not played for. It couldn’t have gone much worse for Boston, and much better for Atlanta.

Another Sale Day yesterday with Chris Cy Young Sale pitching 6 strong innings, and allowing 2 hits with 7 K’s, and not allowing a run lowering his league leading ERA to 2.38, and leads the league with 213 K’s. He didn’t notch his league leading 17th win as the Braves couldn’t hold a 1-0 lead. All in all not bad for a 35 year old who is pitching like a 25 year old. Can you believe it? Atlanta can.

6 days ago you said ND could finish in the top 2, or 3 this year. There was nothing to suggest then they were going to be a good team this year, and there is nothing to suggest now they are a good team. From top 2, or 3 this year to now a total bummer is quite the flip flop.🤭🙈

Well a moon you did it again, which you have an uncanny ability to do time, and time again counting on a win before it happens, and then putting the old jinx on someone, and watching them lose. It’s not a gift, but a curse. I said a few days ago that this wasn’t one of Notre Dame’s better teams, and that was proven today, and I’m pretty sure this won’t be the last loss either. Notre Dame is not that good.🙈🤭

Good post as usual Max. JH must hate paying out millions every year to players that aren’t playing for the Red Sox especially a CY Young Winner, or not playing at all, because of a s*** happens injury.

That’s what I’ve been saying for the last two years when others on here keep bringing up JH past spending habits that this is not the same JH anymore.

I don’t know why it’s often pondered on here on where the Red Sox are in regards to the salary cap like that is how much money the Red Sox are going to spend up to. Did JH say that’s what he’s willing to do?

If the report was true that Texas offered to trade for Sale, and take on his whole contract, and Atlanta was interested in Sale last year too, and neither happened I don’t know what would lead anyone to believe Bloom would have done it this year.

Not so sure about this. Dugy, and Bloom had a meeting out on the field after a game last year before he was fired, and the report was Dugy didn’t appear to happy with what Bloom was telling him.

I hate to admit it too, but I agree that the 2024 Red Sox would have been better under Bloom just, because Sale would still be here. Even if Bloom did his usual at the trade deadline none of Brez’s pickups have done anything anyway.

Making sense at the time does not change the outcome now. The old woulda, shoulda, coulda. I know what I said at the time of the trade, but once again that doesn’t change the outcome of the trade, and that’s what matters most IMO.

No matter how you want to look at it on the Braves part whether it was a hunch, a guess, an opinion, or just no worry at all the Braves came out on top, and Brez, and the Red Sox drew the short straw, and are coming out as BIG losers in all this.

You’re possibly right about how the Red Sox felt about Sale being a very high risk for more missed time, but on the other hand I don’t believe Atlanta thought he was ANY risk at all. Brez, and the Red Sox were wrong, and the Braves were right, and the Braves are reaping the rewards, because of it. Speaking of awards how does Chris Cy Young Sale sound?
