  1. No hit through 4. Not a great outcome to keep pressure on Bello. Now he needs a shutdown inning again
  2. I think with respect to Astros, any Htown loss or any Sox win eliminates Astros
  3. SOX getting no hit first time through. Maybe they want to qualify at home Bello needs to keep them.in the game until the batters wake up
  4. Brayan off to a good start. well done. The hitting lineup has not yet been told the game started
  5. Likely accurate, MVP. It's worth seeing that in a game critical for BJ's to win ALE, they best they can muster is an opener. In an elimination game, the Astros run out old friend Framber Valdez who throws "mistakes" at his catcher , and has lost his last 4 starts posting an almost 5 ERA in away games. Go away , Fraamber
  6. Betting odds rarely reflect reality solely, mostly they represent a ratio that will entice different bettors to wager on both sides equally , balancing the bookie/casino's position and letting the 10%+- vig go to the house. It tends to incite emotional responses, not practical reasoned ones. The pro gamblers I knew in Vegas were generally depressed sociopaths with little emotion and absolutely no empathy .
  7. Assuming the 26 year old Brayan Bello is healthy after 161 innings of mixed results , it is time for him to step up and be a winner today, even if Astros lose to A's. I'm saying Houston will win, so the heat will be on Bello to perform. Ready to be proven wrong, but I think Brayan could be immature and unready for pressure and intensity like today and the playoffs could provide . Realize that today's Dominican, Venezuelan, have been the product of baseball academies with no emphasis on education . Like many of American college football players, they are not well prepared for the prime time, criticism and potential wealth that comes with their position. I would love to see Bello throw a 6 inning 1 runner and get the most meaningful win in the last 4-7 years. But also look at Varland's stats over the last 3 games . Sox hitters have their work carved out too
  8. It wasn't forever ago that the Sox won a WS vs. , hold it.....the Rockies (2007)
  9. We are mere BB's rattling around in a 55 gallon empty drum. What's amazing to me , and an incredible job by Fred, is that he has kept the majority of active Talksoxer's hooked with his black/white, all or none propositions for pretty much the second half of the season. Many of you continue to stay hooked as if you could change Fred's mind or have any influence whatever on what Breslow, Cora or JH actually do or don't do. Debate and contrary opinions are the essence of fandom, as is calling guys Bums or Bell-boy , who is your pitcher in a game that could determine the first Red Sox playoff team since Covid shortened 2021. Stay hooked if you will but it is dreadfully boring at this point.
  10. A's prevail 6-0 over Astros. Houston cannot name a starting pitcher for what will be an elimination game for them. Maybe their GM needs to work harder
  11. Watch his first inning tomorrow. That will give a big clue as to his ability to throw strikes and be mentally tough. Although he is capable physically. IMO he is short of confidence and somewhat mentally flustered when s*** happens. Expect the best. prepare for the worst AC. Crochet saved the BP today
  12. I would not lose sleep over Anthony in the first round next week. When he is physically ready. he will be similar to Abreu. needing a week of play to catch up.
  13. Kirk is a fat, short beer leaguer who can hit but can't run. Kudos to Wilyer for seeing that, and a good pick by Lowe
  14. No, just don't like pitchers who spoil a shutout with a first batter HR, then issues a 2 out walk. using 26 pitches to get 3 outs only due to Abreu 's great arm
  15. Let Wong catch the 8th/9th. Give HR Narvaez a rest. Big hit, 3 run jack
  16. The most I would advocate for Lowe in Feb '26 would be non roster invitee And I don't see Casas making a big splash back
  17. Blue Jay's think Sox runners on 2nd are relaying pitch type or location. Didn't help Lowe
  18. In 2024, KC and Tigers got a WC slot with 86 wins. Sox working on 87 and still need to sweat
  19. Crochet helped out when some rocket shots have been fielded well. But the pop-ups to CF are a different issue
  20. Fried chicken and beer ? Do they have beer in Canada. Probably only local brew
