  1. Vs. Arrighetti's 10 pitch effort to retire our #1-3 batters. What the heck is going on with Anthony. Does he need to go to Worcester so he can be MLB's #1 prospect again and be somebody ? Obviously that is not going to happen, but I will dump on him if he becomes our best hitter again in the late part of a wasted season
  2. Yes, on one swing of the bat. That was an anomaly when Duran hit an HR with MoB.
  3. Today will be another run scoring challenge for the Yellowshirts vs the arrogant Arrighetti Probably be a run explosion both ways
  4. Sox get a needed win Bruins looking at the end of their season. Down 2 in 3rd period
  5. A bold prediction I do concede, but 3 runs will not be enough to win this game which is shortly going over to Kelly and Weissert. All runs came on 1 swing by Duran , but plenty of LOBsters out on the bases. 1 for 7 RISP through 5.
  6. Contreras may be an asset on this team. Nice play to get the DP and help Bennett reach the 5th inning
  7. Bennett looks better throwing hard strikes, not so many change ups But challenged to close the inning out. Sox specialize in 2 out innings
  8. Bennett starts nibbling and not following through issuing 2 walks with 2 outs FAFO with Altuve and you might pay or not Bennett will have trouble going more than 4 innings given his pitch count
  9. Watching the opening road trip i commented that the players did not look ready for the season The WBC participants should have been ready for real competition The 6 game opening trip was extended ST and the guys wanted to get home. Crochet allegedly said he was saving himself in ST and consequently was not built up to be a power pitcher in April. Cora had enough of Breslow's dictating lineups and who played. He backed his coaches because , frankly, AC had nothing to lose financially . He is a known Coach's manager. Why would AC want to put in an entyire season of misery like us fans will now do. Enjoy PR , Alex. But you should have had them ready, that was your failure.
  10. They ( FO) are concerned Masa will get injured and hurt his trade value in July.
  11. So the incredibly deep starting rotation of March 27 now comes down to a rookie starter going against one of the very few MLB teams with a marginally worse record than the Sox. #1 and #2 on the IL before end of April, Crawford may be chronic . Bello is a bellboy , mental midget. Looking at the Red Sox hitting stats for OBP and OPS , you could say that only Contreras and Abreu are contributing as expected. Duran and Anthony are wandering in the desert . Durbin contributes almost nothing . Cedanne Rafaela is doing better than you might have expected. Trevor @ SS, well, that's another Story with a bad ending.
  12. With virtually 20% of the season ( 31 games) played and most regular position players above or very near 100 PA's you can draw a few conclusions . They simply were not ready for the season, they got Cora et alia fired and the clubhouse is likely a quiet place . Tracy inherits a dead dog and is supposed to make it stand up and bark. This has become really bad
  13. Good News ! Crochet only needs a 15 day rest not a shoulder reconstruction. The positives regarding this group are amazing . Hard to see the opportunity to turn this "lost" season around in any meaningful way
  14. Bello starting followed by Weissert is a recipe for disaster and sure enough they played it out perfectly. Extremely tired of Bello and now his Bozo hairstyling. What was he shaking his head at when Tracy came to get him out ? Maybe his entire lack of focus and ability. Bell-boy is really a problem head case .
  15. An outstanding win vs a really good picture who unraveled a bit . Take that one and if possible, grab the next for a series win.
  16. Of course the dynamic duo at SS-2B DO turn a DP showing they are capable of learning from their errors. An error a game pace so far.? Don't even want to look it up
  17. The defense behind the pitching remains a PoS. That botch by Story-Mayer was the worst effort at a DP I have seen in about 2 decades
  18. 2 more K's in 2nd but mighty Mayer stroked a groundball out to shortstop, so there is that.
  19. Sox bottom of first was enlightening. Misery was shared by Anthony, Duran and Contreras, all of whom K'ed . Watching Misiorowski pitch FB strikes reminds me we have nothing quite like that level of hitting ability. The over 12 K's looks like a good bet now
  20. Can't possibly lose today, Crochet is on the mound for the Sox. It will be interesting to see how many Sox can catch up to Misery's FB
  21. A 21 year old DH, who can't play the field ? Yoshida, but younger . Very hard to accept that Roman Anthony cannot be trained to throw a ball from LF in Fenway . There are high school kids doing it well.
  22. The throw from Anthony from that short distance should have been a line drive, airmailed to the plate, just like the hit to him. Watching the play multiple times I say Anthony had the ball before the runner actually touched 3rd and he did not expect the guy to be running . He jerked the throw because he allowed himself to get caught between a full throw and who should he throw to. Doesn't really matter
  23. I also doubt Cora will get fired or his sub coaches, or Breslow either, but I will say this is the kind of play that does get people fired.
