  1. Yes, turns out to be an unproductive AB . Better than a DP though
  2. Warning track power. The cutting edge between victory and defeat
  3. At least this game is moving quickly and with virtually no LOBs, nor Boston runs. Bello is again actually pitching well and if he had support could make a winner out of this one. Fat chance
  4. 16 pitches to get 9 outs from the weak Sox ? That must be a new low, even for them. But hit into 2 DPs in 3 innings and you can save a lot of pitches. Durbin may be the weakest looking batter I have seen strike a fair ball in awhile
  5. What was the difference between Schwarb's and Mick's flyball to RF ? About 100' and 1 run scored
  6. Did not take long for Schwarber to stick the L-R thing to the Sox and Moran. Makes Mickey Gasper's task as our #2 a little tougher to beat
  7. Modern batting lineup theory states that the best hitter on your team should bat second. Whether that determination is based on power power, BA, OBP, OPS or War ratings , who knows ? But the fact that on Breslow's Red Sox this position is listed today as Mickey Gasper is a revelation. Gasper does have a bit of a hot bat, by Sox standards, right now and is only there because Contreras got hit in the hand doesn't diminish Mickey's ascent to baseball nirvana. I hope he hits 1 more HR tonight than does Schwarber.
  8. The fact that Bello needs an opener to address his 1st inning difficulties is a strong indicator that he is not capable of dealing with being a professional. To the extent that it works, so be it and congrats if we win. It does provide backing to the multi-year thought that Bello is not able to deal with adversity or pressure. Good luck to him and the team to get a win
  9. Early showed up on time and pitched his 7 inning shutout. Whit and Chappie sealed his win. Good game and win
  10. What do Story and Mayer see when a spinning ball comes toward the plate. A couple of weak ABs
  11. Or the FOs inability to judge young talent. Bres thought he was stealing one wth Durbin
  12. Giving credit where due, thanks to Greg Weissert for openly admitting he pitched like s***. The first step in any recovery program is to admit the failure and accept that change is needed. Way to go , Greg, you are on the way !
  13. Over the last 14 games the Red Sox are 7-7 , which may reflect what they are., a .500 team, which needs to go 6 over, just to be .500 The 2=8 start is still the deficit. does anyone actually miss AC or think the 7-7 record would be any different if they had retained Cora ? Tracy seems to have kept an even keel so far . It seems obvious that he is getting direction from the FO analysts , maybe direct from Breslow. I would love to know who is making the calls on the sequencing of relievers. The batting orders are more consistent and make some sense.
  14. Yoshi back to chopping wood. worm burning. This does not look like the team that was in Detroit
  15. A reliever should not be asked to go 50 pitches. I understand that Tracy was trying to steal an inning and rest the others. Cora did that as well. But it stinks of giving up. Sox were only down 2 , now 4.
  16. But Weissert and Kelly will be available. maybe Mickey Gaspar too
  17. Shirt of a big time rally and appearance by Chapman thi feels like one of those "soft" losses where the team kind of blahs out, reliever slops it up snd no one gets a key hit Sox do not play their best at Fenway any more
