  1. Including pulling his head off the ball and opening up too much. Duran is fixable but it would take a good coach and a serious effort on DURAN's part to change his approach. The 2 HRs may have convinced him to swing hard and up angle.
  2. How many soft bouncers, with MoB, can our batters hit back to the opposing pitcher ? Lots
  3. The FO failure to cash its check on Duran's value 2 off seasons ago would have been the right move, or at least this past off-season. They missed a potential big gain. Yet for all the experience and data available, a good baseball evaluator would have predicted a decline for Duran who never really had star potential as he approached 30 . I like watching his effort but this decline was predictable . The fact that the organization cannot get him on track is another coaching shortcoming.
  4. Story needed a rest day to give himself a psych evaluation. Yoshida is slow to get the message that he should just ask for a transfer back to the Japanese league. On a serious note, is Sox management ( FO) willing to just play out the next month to see if the poor hitting will self correct for guys like Duran, Story, Durbin or do the " analysts" have the guts to tell Craig : Do something !
  5. Looking at the spray chart, of RA's 25 hits this year, 10 did not leave the infield, including a double. In a season where the Sox really needed a pure hitter , Anthony failed to come through so far. The trouble is that when he finally heals, he'll still need time to get back to speed and if that is by May 31 , the Sox may be 10 games out of WC race.
  6. The Sox do get very negative results from potential run scoring setups. Low results from RISP siuations, failure to get balls through drawn in infields, Ks, no flyball SF. They have figured out how to waste excellent pitching.
  7. How does Jim Rice keep a straight face on NESN postgame shows. Papelbon is more generous with trashing them. How about a broadcast where the Analytics department explains the reasons for deviations from the mean
  8. Remember when no one could wait for Mayer to assault the Bigs , then it was Anthony . The reality is that the Sox havr not graduated a true stud to the parent team
  9. That extra run starting with Story's error etc could wind up the difference
  10. This bunch is a 50-50 proposition. Go back to the 2-8 start they are a .500 team pending tonight's loss
  11. Was Durbin looking at an empty 2B? zThese guys are truly awful
  12. Kelly should have been out but Story gave him an opportunity to show Ol Zack actually sucks too
  13. Glad it was Schwarber who is beating them with the long ball in first game and just now.
  14. Can't wait for the Sox best prospects to come up swinging hard.
  15. Abreu, Contreras and Rafaela all get jammed into weak grounders.
  16. They wouldn t know a strike if it hit them in the ribs ...oh wait must be a swing and miss
