  1. Nope you’re right, off by a year. Still, they got those prime years. im not against it, I just see more value in extending guys and buying out years in their 20’s
  2. Can’t believe we traded two months of CV for this bum. so glad the boo birds weren’t right on that one.
  3. Both are controlled thru there age 31 season. No need to extend those guys. Take the team years
  4. All I’ve seen recently was a story on the Atlantic. It was a proposal, no actual rumors. although trading an outfielder over Casas makes sense. Sox will need room for Anthony sooner rather than later
  5. It’s pretty telling that the Sox have three starters missing and the team is seemingly fine. having a PIG at the top of the rotation can make you feel like that.
  6. When did you become the voice for reason around here?
  7. Two of the biggest risers in the last ranking. Juan Valera Brandon Clarke Valera is 18 and will start in high A. He will be the second youngest player in high A, he will be the youngest pitcher in all of high A. He’s getting a ton of hype. Clarke was a 5th round pick last year who I admittedly know little about….and now I go to google but lots to be excited about. prospect, or suspects as some may put it can break your heart. But we seemingly have some good pitching talent on the system we have. Or had in a very long time.
  8. Thought it was June last year
  9. Perales might get some action at the tail end of the season. Might.
  10. I never really fully believed that narrative. It was one set by the Boston media, which I've grown a serious mistrust for. They have their own agenda and negativity sells clicks. I own a business and I hire, every single person I interview is someone who is looking for a job and applied for it. I would imagine that if I went and tried to poach people away from other businesses who already had jobs and weren't necessarily looking for another that I'd get a lot of declines for interviews as well. Add in having to move across the country and uproot your family into the equation and my point is only strengthened. I seriously doubt there was more than 1, if 1 candidate who declined the interview who didn't do so because they would not have for all the other 28 teams as well because they were happy where they were. Have any of the candidates who refused the Sox interview taken GM/CBO jobs elsewhere since then? I sincerely do not know but that would be interesting to see.
  11. Same way you ban anything. Would you let one team raise the mound when the others do not? no you wouldn't. Of course other teams could raise the mound as well. But that could throw off a pitchers mechanics and teams probably want pitchers to get used to that in the offseason and spring training. If an aspect of the game, whether it be the mound, or the bat etc etc etc. can add a significant advantage it needs to be implemented universally across the game. Yes, other teams might of had access to these bats as well but it is up to MLB to inspect and approve of them and in hindsight perhaps they should of introduced them at the milb level for a few years collected data and then shared it with teams before just allowing it.
  12. They take wood from the end of the barrel and use it to fatten up the sweet spot. So hitters are going to make better, harder, louder and hitting it further contact whenever they square up a ball. But doesn't this also reduce their capacity to protect the edge of the plate? if a guy wants to reach out and get a fastball outside and try to foul it off on a 2-2 3-2 count. I'm not saying the good might not far outweight the bad but there may be a downside to torpedo bats that we are not seeing yet.
  13. add: That or mlb will ban them.
  14. Ok real opinion. I'd be interested to see what an actual in depth study shows about these bats. I'm sure we will start to see a lot more data trickle in as they're under a microscope now. I wonder if the bats are as game changing as they suggest now. If they are adding wood to the sweet spot they are taking away from others. There could be disadvantages here. The whole balance of a players swing will change, and some players are much more reliant upon muscle memory than others. But I'd image it would be harder to protect the zone and make contact at the end of the barrel to stay alive. If the bats truly do add a huge advantage, then I'm a little disappointed the rules committee approved them without extensively studying them and distributing that information league wide. Perhaps they should have tested them for a year in the minors in one of their leagues and compiled the data. But in the end it will not matter, because if they truly are that revolutionary everyone will be using them soon.
  15. A new investigative report has uncovered that the wood the Yankees added to the sweet spot of their bats was taken from the Boston Red Sox bats.
  16. Sounds like Campbell is going to get done at some point too. Sox locking up their talent.
  17. You almost kind of hope its only 6 years (counting this year) right? If he doesn't opt out at the age of 31, you have to think something went very wrong in 2028/2029.
  18. Counting this year Crochet will be here for 6-7 years and will pitch during his age 26/27/28/29/30/31 seasons. They're getting a prime pitcher, in their prime. You almost hope it's 6 years. Because if it's 7 something may have gone wrong.
  19. Except it's not, it would be a 140/5 deal if he opts out after 30' 168/6 if he does not. The deal starts in 2026.
  20. I actually think they're highly overrated and due to take a giant step back this year. The Yankees are probably worse, they did add Fried, but lost Soto and a ton of players in Spring. The Orioles did nothing to get better, lost Burnes The Rays have done very little and don't have the same talent coming up in the pipeline like they have for decades the Blue Jays did very little to get better. If the A.L. East is tough this year, I think it's because BOSTON takes a big step forward this year.
  21. At this point in the season, I literally have zero concerns other than injury for anyone.
  22. I'm not using any exact metric here (E.G. Zip projections) Rather I was just expressing my generally optimism in the sox bullpen given the talent in there.
  23. I have faith that Slaten is going to be really good too. I think Chapman is going to be who Chapman is. It doesn't look like any of the starters out are seriously injured, more like starting later, although I do have a little bit more concern with Crawford. Who might end up back in the bullpen by the end of April. I think he would be lights out there. I'd take the over on the 2025 Boston Red Sox bullpen.
