  1. You don't believe in the 2nd coming of Ben Zobrist???
  2. I'm all for trading guys, but I'd rather start trading from depth when their is more certainty and roles locked in at the MLB level. As much young talent as we have we DON"T have that yet. Sure, I can see many permutations of the future where Campbell is locking down 2nd, Mayer is at SS and Anthony is mashing on a corner. But until we have that team, I want a balanced approach that doesn't gut the farm.
  3. It's not that people don't want winner on this team, it's that we understand you need more than one or two of them. It's very easy for the worse teams in the league to have some of the best players. 4 for 1 deals to bring in talent can be great and have their place, but there's a time and a place for them and if you do it too much you pretty much corner yourself into a small window.
  4. And what have the majority of his seasons looked like when you take out his very first two at the young age of 20 and 21? how many guys reach their peak at 20? and the following year was the covid year. A team is always going to weight what you did vs. what you recently did. If you're a 27 year old STUD and they say "well you weren't that good when you were 20" they're going to lose the bidding war. It only takes one team to agree with me for me to be right, and all 30 teams to agree with you for you to be right. This is why free agents are mostly overpaid every single year. Someones going pay for him to be that 6 WAR PIG. Can I say pig for hitters?
  5. He's 26. Teams are going to be paying for his upside, more so if he puts up a good year this year. His FWar the last few years. 6.3 3.3 1.3 5.5 If he puts up a solid year this year, those 2 years and his 20 year old season aren't going to weigh down the evaluation the winning team bids out for him. If he replicates last year he's getting 500 million.
  6. The thing about Vladdy is he is a 1B, and an awful one at that. If you're fitting him on the rosters, you're moving Devers back to 3B next year or keeping him at DH and trading Yoshida, and then trading Casas. Or you could move Devers to 1B and trade Yoshida and Casas and DH Vladdy if Bregman walks. If Bregman stays it makes a lot more sense to to play Devers at 1B and DH Vladdy. But unless you plan on trading your top prospects and playing a 32 year old Yoshida in LF you're trading him too. How players are valued seems to be amorphous in this sport and currently slugging 1B seem to be highly undervalued. In other words, we are probably getting very little back for Casas. So in conclusion we are essentially giving away Yoshida/Casas value combined, Moving Devers to 1B hoping he can play there (probably could) and signing a DH to 450-500 million. I know the bat fits, the bat REALLY fits. But I'll pass on all that. There's going to be a lot of roster turn over going on between Bregman, Giolito, Buehler, Hendriks, Chapman. There are going to be holes to fill and young guys needing extensions. It really feels like a horrible use of resources for the team as they're currently constructed. Unless they plan on going full on LA and have no problem have a payroll above 260 in perpetuity, in that case sign me up.
  7. All I stated was Devers arm is stronger. It is. That's not analogous with him being a better defender, which Bregman clearly is. But if there's a weak spot in Bregmans defense it's his arm strength.
  8. This. I can see Mayer coming up for an injury at some point this year, but early on in the season I don't think they will. I think they want him to develop just a little bit more. Bake time is 24 minutes, Mayer is at like 21....just a LITTLE bit more time people.
  9. ding ding ding we have a winner!!!! It's a nothing burger. The reason why this grinds my gears, is there's going to come a time. Maybe this time is in the summer, maybe its next. But there will be a time when Devers hits a slump, and people are going to come back to this time and use this "nothing burger" against him. And that's just bananas.
  10. I talk to my ex-wife everyday. We are really good friends still. Our kids are multi-lingual and each speak two languages (although my daughter is on her third). Their mother speaks 7 different languages, she worked in the courts as an interpreter. I was literally married to an interpreter. I would like to think I at least kind of know what the ffff I'm talking about here. Saying that things don't get lost in translation is just absurdly Ludacris to me but more importantly it's not about what we heard It's about what HE heard, and I don' think many people are considering that at all. What position are you going to play, can turn into what position do you like playing very quickly. "he said what he said" carries a completely different context when you can understand things get lost in transition sometimes. I think Raffy is just going to tell us he's playing 3B until the team tells him otherwise and that's fine I honestly can't believe people give a s***. No one is talking about this down at the Fort because literally no one else cares except us fans. His teammates are talking about it because they don't care. No one cares because it's a NOTHING BURGER!!!!
  11. LMFAO I honestly can't tell if you're just not getting this or if you're messing with me. Not only did I not say that he didn't say that, I explicitly came back and said that I didn't say that. Kind of ironic for you to say that and take this position. What I said was "things get lost in transition." If you can't understand the difference I can't help you.
  12. Bun, lettuce, tomotato, some cheese, maybe a little onion, the special sauce, and whole lotta NOTHING
  13. Oh second point to playing telephone. You just said "You can claim the translator doesn't know spanish all you want" But you see, that's not what I said. I didn't say he didn't know spanish but that's how you took it. Now think about that and add in the layer of going from one language to the next. That's what happens when you speak through an interpreter and then someone writes a story about it. But again, all he said was "I play 3B" which is true, up until now he has played 3B for more than 1/2 a decade. Until the team explicitly tells him otherwise why should answer that question any differently?
  14. Didn't you ever play telephone as a kid?
  15. That came out of his mouth? or the translators mouth? you know translations aren't always perfect, and tone among other things get lost in translation as well. He might of been referring to me as being a Jagoffasaurus, But back to your point where "he" stated "I am the 3B' I go back to my point. If no one has told him he's not the 3B anymore then he is the 3B. He's truthfully answering the question in his head.
  16. I see what you did there lol however I have heard that there are people who see LF in Campbells future.
  17. When you break it down and think about it, if people understand this what are they essentially angry at? They're effectively angry that Raffy doesn't share their "feelings" and doesn't immediately jump for joy at the prospect of moving position before he's even asked. The type of mentality I want in my PROFESSIONAL Athletes are guys who don't want to move off of the position they play ever. Now, I expect them to do so once asked if it's in the best interest of the team. But I want them to want their position....even if they suck at it. That's the bulldog thought process I want in my pro atheltes.
  18. Especially if he moves to DH I don't want that boy to lose one single pound. Not all athletes are built the same.
  19. Exactly! so how should he react to be asked questions that were formed in such a way that something has happened that as far as he was concerned didn't happen yet? People who actually speak spanish and watched the interview say that the tone from Devers was one that was only upset because he seemed annoyed with the line of questioning. It's LITERALLY.....a nothing burger. Or I suppose we should call it a "It's nothing yet, maybe it will be something but some people think it's something because the media loves what the media loves" burger....with Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato and cheese.
  20. OMG dude🤦‍♂️. There's a difference between not wanting to move off a position and refusing to move off a position. No one should have issue with the former.
