    Top K/BB players with level/age John Holobotz A+/AA - 23 Payton Tolle AA/AAA/Boston - 22 Lead at the top, then it’s some unimpressive names until you get to Uberstine/Aita/Early/Fajardo In their very small sample sizes who didn’t qualify (I used 40 IP) well regarded prospects Juan Valera and Sadbiel Dezline had good KK/BB numbers as well. Holobotz at the top is interesting because his K numbers are more average, he just doesn’t walk anyone. The Preister deal keeps giving

    Some of the best predictors of future mlb success are K and BB rates, I think a lot of people look at wOBA wRC+ (for hitters) which are stats I’m starting to come around on. i think we also have to consider the age of a player. If one player puts up marginally better stats than another at high A but is 23 years old while the other is 19. Who really had a more impressive season? One might say the 19 year old

    This is not in order right? Because Kyle Tucker should certainly be at the top. if Alonso opts out, he’s probably shopping around for the largest contract to take back to Steve Cohen to match. Going big, probably looks more like Tucker, and trading from our outfield depth to bring in other pieces.

    Reds made the playoffs because they have insanely good pitching. No surprise there. I think when people make statements like “the NL is so much better than the AL” they’re looking at the top. As you move down to the bottom I’m not surprised that inter-league play resulted in something close to .500 play between the two leagues. but the teams at the top: LAD/PHIL/MiL/SDP/CHC might all easily beat whoever comes out of the AL this year. then again….maybe it’s finally Seattles year

    I think the best case scenario is Bregman opts in. I’d rather not pay him three years from now on, but he should still very very good for a few more years. Abreu, Duran, Rafaela, and Anthony are all good outfielders and I still haven’t given up on Cambell being a premium player either. It’s not a factor of losing offense if you trade one of those guys because you can’t play them all at once anyways, you gotta trade someone and fill in a hole elsewhere. Abreu or Duran should be part of a package that is either going to upgrade 2nd/SS OR bring in a #2 starter. I think a premium bullpen arm and a catcher #2 should be explored as well.

    I think that's highly subjective. I get why people think $40 a year is a lot, but what I see is not paying 25-30 million a year for multiple years that he's older, broken down, not as good as he once was, or even able to stay on the field. You pay a premium for not having to buy out those years. If another team is signing him away from us, he's getting less money per year but more money overall.

    They don't control 3rd party tickets brokers like stub hub and seatgeek. Any Red Sox fan can go on there and buy a ticket. Actually, funny story, I never showed them my ticket. It was in my email. I literally just walked right into the stadium last night. I didn't get ticketed until I was literally walking into my section. Maybe they're just kicking out all the Sox fans in the right field bleachers and moving them to the left. Left field was a mix, but right field was a sea of pinstripes all shouting slogans in harmony. I could actually see how that can be an exciting experience for a fan base.....but they still ****** suck.

    I live in CT EDIT. I also used a 3rd party service "Seat Geek" I'm not sure how the Yankees can control who SeatGeak, Stub hub, and ticket master sell too. I'm not saying you're wrong, I heard that too, I'm just wondering how they did it.

    Sox lost because of me. Sox are 3-0 in playoff games I go to with family or friends. They are 0-2 in playoff games I attend alone. I will have to bring a date/friend/family member to the next game. Which hopefully happens in October of 2025. LETS WIN IT TONIGHT!!!

    Looks like both Houston and Detroit are stumbling right now as well. I was really looking forward to the youngester getting some playoff experience, yet a lot of them are on the IL. I'm trying to envision where the playoff hero is going to come from.

    Sox are playing Toronto, who is fighting to hold the top spot and the 1st seed. Then we play Detroit, who right now are exactly in the playoffs, one day could throw them out, they've also lost 7 in a row, but they could be in a must win situation when we play too. Meaningful baseball.

    It's very weird right now. Sox are definitively better this year, but they're beat up right now, young, missing key players, and apparently don't have that last ingredient that could propel them from being a WS champion. It's weird, because we are at the end of the season and these games matter, right now they are in the playoffs but it's tight right at the finish line. Given their current bill of health, I'm not too optimistic about what we could do in a series. But you know what they say? just make the playoffs and seee what happens. What's the status of Roman Anthony? when he was injured initially they made it sound like he could be back in a week from now. That could certainly help them in the playoffs.

    That seems way to extreme to me if there was any truth to suitors not wanting the Boston position, firing Breslow after one season only makes that situation much worse. there’s value in continuity, and if you turn this front office into a revolving door you will lose more than just candidates, and a franchise that looks a year away from seriously competing could be thrown into chaos. Breslow seems to be fine, are a few moves worthy of critique? Yes, but no more than any GM who had the balls to actually make moves. people need to chill out and let these guys cook

    Giolito has been good this year, but it's not like he's the guy who was a top ten cy young candidate 6-8 years ago in Chicago, I don't know how good hes actually going to be 31-34? And why should I care about 4 years? I don't think the option should be to chose between this guy at 4 years and that guy at 4 years? WHy can't it be Giolito at 4 years vs. Valdez at 5 years? or 3 years of Giolito vs. 6 years of Gallen. Dylan Cease, plus the trade market????? we can do a lot better than Giolito.

    I had forgotten about Houcks timeline, Perales will certainly be on an innings limit next year, so even if he smashes his way to the bigs I'm not counting on him at the end of next year. Still you put another top guy with Crochet then I don't care who the 5th starter is. Still lots of other guys too, some we have forogtten about.

    A multi year contract scares me with Giolito, if they're going to throw $100 million at a pitcher in FA I think they can target someone better than Lucas.

    I would love Giolito for another year, but I don't feel as strongly about a long term deal. I think you offer him the Q.O. and if he walks Ces La Vie.

    Lucas Giolito reached 140.1 innings which means the Sox can no longer exercise their club option, it now becomes a $19 million mutual option, which will not be picked up so we can put him into the Q.O. category. I think the Sox have to go out and make another big more on a pitcher this offseason. 1. Crochet 2. FA/Trade 3. Bello 4. Patrick Sandoval 5. Tanner Houck/Cutter Crawford/Peyton Tolle/Kyle Harrison/Hunter Dobbins/Connelly Early/Richard Fitts That depth looks really good with another ace at the top. Cleaner bill of health on the offensive side and this team could take another step forward next year.

    You're comparing what definitviely happened to what might have happened. They may have made other moves to get Eyanson, they might not have. They had that extra pick for a long time, there was a lot of thought that went into how and where they scouted with that in mind. It's just as likely, if not more likely that they don't. But regardless, we know what they did do and they did save money with that pick to sign Eyanson. He's tied into the compensation.

    IF Eyanson and/or Phillips suck, your point is not moot. Well maybe maybe not. If they both suck it's likely a bad trade, but if one of them becomes a star I'd argue it was an good trade. I'll admit it's an easier argument for Phillips but I firmly believe in putting Eyanson in there as well.
