  1. Well I stated my preference (after Devers) of going out and acquiring a better player than all those guys.
  2. Semantics man, come on. Casas was the starting 1B, he got off to a slow start. We could talk all day about what he was, could be, should be, won't be etc etc but the fact is he WAS the starting 1B and Toro was your AAA depth.
  3. Well it was really just Romney/Toro until they had to call up Sogard due to injury. So 3, maybe 2.5 This is why they signed Toro. To be the bandaid until they figure it out. So we might be living with that 1B platoon until a trade is made.
  4. Not that I agree with any of this BUT IF the Sox moved Campbell to 1B, you got to move Story to 2nd and call up Mayer to play SS. They have to find a way to get Anthony on the roster as well. Roman is at 283 at bats, which is past the 250 threshold they like guys to have before promoting him, and if you look at other #1 prospects on the hitting side, very very few of them have spent more than this amount of time in AAA. He's also slashing a .322/.450/.520 Sox can't let them marinate in AAA all year and have rookie eligibility next year. At this point it's almost certainly going to be a free year of control with them if you call em up.
  5. We know the Sox value continuity, they don't want to make a guy learn a new position and learn how to be a big leaguer at the same time. They most certainly would not do that at the same time a kid who is not even 2 months into his mlb career is struggling and trying to figure out how to make adjustments. They want him to work through this, they obviously have a lot of faith in him evidence by the contract extension they gave him. They're not going to eff that up by moving him to 1B. And they shouldn't. Mayer is one of baseballs top prospects projected to be an above average ss for years to come. Any talk about moving him there (and breaking him into the majors) is also just not going to happen. I suppose these things could happen, it's not 100% out of the realm of possibility, but it's highly unlikely. Unfortunately if Devers does not want to move, you're going to have to go out and find someone to plug the hole. Sox should kick the tires with Baltimore on Ryan O'Hearn
  6. according to multiple sources, the Red Sox offered Juan Soto a 15 year $700 million dollar deal. I believe they were serious.
  7. I don't think it was, didn't they offer him $700? I think they just got beat.
  8. Wait you're listening to the pre-game, I thought you were commenting on the lineup. Sox could really use a win. I think they will win, because I'm starting to think this .500 magnet is real.
  9. They had Drew on a 1 year contract at SS and Middlebrooks was laying eggs. They weren't trading Bogaerts if he didn't move to 3B. Young guys are always going to be willing to appear the big club to make it to the majors. But guys want to maximize their value as well. They only get one real shot at a payday, and moving a guy off of a position to a lesser position can cost them millions and millions of dollars. Unless of course......you were already paid. I don't care what anyone says, if you conducted a anonymous poll of Sox players, some of those guys think Devers should have moved to 1B and are likely turned off by his unwillingness to do so.
  10. If they were able to slide Yoshida into the DH slot tomorrow he'd be on a rehab assignment. Dude still can't throw and has a bum shoulder.
  11. Makes sense, Cora needs to rest his guys, and with a RHP on the mound it's a good to day to get someone like D-Ham some at bats. Campbell has been hitting the ball better lately, with nothing to show for it. I have faith in the kids.
  12. Campbell taking grounders at 1b.
  13. Campbell is obviously struggling, he’s young, and the Sox are going to commit to him working through it. The extension speaks for itself. They’re not going to ask him in his rookie season, in the midst of his first adjustment to also slide over and play a position he’s never played before. the Sox have been relatively open and transparent with their plan for their young talent. It’s not going to be ,Campbell at 1st.
  14. It’s his 3rd season, and his first season was in the DSL at 17. he started last year in the FCL, even if he didn’t get hurt this would be his first year in full season affiliate ball.
  15. Every year someone falls to the Sox, Steele hall is right in that range of being mocked just a few spots above where the Sox pick. There's actually a lot of SS talent in that 6-14 range before the Sox pick. Someone will fall.
  16. What I think he should do is put Raffy at 1B, then have Abreu/Duran/Anthony rotate the DH with LF/RF. THough I'd keep Duran in left and Abreu and right and alternate Anthony. This gets Anthony in the lineup, keeps Duran and Abreu where the already are, and keeps Rafaela in CF where he adds value. Although I realistically think they have a better chance of convincing Raffy to move to 1B in the offseason. Have they tried a really really cool gift basket yet?
  17. Sox will need pitching help at the deadline this year. And yes, I think they will be in it.
  18. It certainly feels like someone from the Arias/Romero/Cespedes might go at the deadline. Middle of the draft also has a lot of IF talent this year.
  19. You can't go by rankings as they can be fluid, and as the guys on soxprospects have said on their podcast when they talk about their rankings; often times it's about guys jumping ahead of someone and NOT that person dropping. Those are actually two separate things. I'm not sure they said that specifically about him, but from what I can recall that feels about right. I don't think anything has ever changed with him since they started hyping him up other than he's almost certainly not viewed as someone who could stick at SS. At the very least a lot of those guys just leapfrogged him because their values went up.
  20. If he's leading off that means they think highly off him and want to get him more at bats. Actually, you can pretty much just look at the top 4-5 guys in any line up and think "there, those are the guys they really like".
