  1. Yes A. I feel much stronger about this than I did about Pivetta getting a QO. B. As OldRed would say the streets are talking, except here it’s everyone. It’s blatantly obvious that people have been hearing the Sox are hopeful Campbell will be on their roster. C. I specifically excluded Mayer because he’s not on their same level as Campbell and Mayer. Who by all but one account have separated themselves from Mayer, have a little bit more seasoning than Mayer, and had better numbers and more time in AAA, they also have clearer paths in 2025 than Mayer does. D. when you’re regarded as thee, or one of thee best prospects in all of baseball with all star game level talent you don’t make the majors based on when it’s convenient for the roster, rather you make the team when you are ready. Sox feel very strong about this. Sox are one of the most progressive teams in terms of embracing changes and player development. They’re not stashing kids who are ready for control. Which they’d lose if they won an award. Campbell/Anthony might be one the best bets to win ROY. The Sox will lose a draft pick and a year of control if they didn’t start the year on the roster. So why WOULDNT you if the are ready. sorry Notin, you’re far off on this one. You’re going to see a rookie on your starting day lineup.
  2. I highly doubt it. You have two top elite prospects mlb ready. You risk losing the extra year of control and the draft pick if they end up winning ROY even if you keep them down. And you’re not keeping them down for long. I think one breaks camp, and one stays down in AAA.
  3. The odds of one of him or Anthony breaking camp is very high IMO
  4. im fine with him at 3rd with his bat, but im more than fine with him moving off. I don’t believe Devers can improve his defense without greatly putting his offensive production at risk. He is better suited for either 1B or DH.
  5. FTR I think the Sox are much better with Bregman at 2nd and Devers at 3rd. A healthy Story and a better Rafaela (if he’s can learn the position) grades out Devers defense closer to average there. Campbell or Anthony can still break camp at a corner OF spot. this alignment allows you to build value up in Yoshida. Who becomes much more tradeable if he stays healthy. The guy isn’t a bad hitter, if healthy I can see him putting up a .800 OPS+ I just happen to think they can be even a little better than that with Bregman at 3rd. if that’s the decision, and when the time comes the Sox brass sit down with Devers behind closed doors to tell him he’s either going to DH full time or part time. It will happen and he will be fine. Dude got confused, imagine being asked by reporters in a language you don’t speak if you are going to accept your wives divorce and sign the papers before she even told you she was leaving? You’d probably be a little jacked up, and combative too. Devers dealt with it by laughing in frustration. There’s a difference between hearing it from the Sox and hearing it from a translator. for those of you who can see the Forrest for the trees, remember that when some Jacko goes off on Devers when he hits a slump this year or next at some point that they on that media teet.
  6. Devers is clearly an endomorph. Dude probably looks at a cupcake and gets fat. He has to work twice as hard as everyone else just to look as soft as he is know. take that boy off 3rd and let him hit the weight room more often. Both shoulders and his stat line will thank you for it
  7. I like Casas, and people make mistakes. I hope he learns and grows as a player in Boston. but you’re 100% spot on with this.
  8. There’s a difference between having an opinion and going against the team. If they’ve already decided Bregman is the 3B then his comments are even worse than Devers IMO. We dont know what they’re being told, perhaps Casas and the team haven’t been told it’s a forgone conclusion that Devers is at DH. But if they have been? Then Casas can’t be saying things like that
  9. One has to wonder how often they actually might cause a locker room controversy vs. these guys read the news and laugh their asses off at them. Personally I think it would be great if they just decide to f*** with everyone. Raffy should take third base on opening day and then have Bregman come pull him out. I would also be appeased if one of these players just snapped back at the media and put them in their place, but we know that will never happen. The front office would certainly frown down on that, but I'd think it would be great if someone like Duran got up their and just told them all they're freaking stupid about the whole Devers situation.
  10. There's nothing the Boston sports media would love more than some drama. Their #1 goal is sales not the Red Sox winning games. And Drama sells. There's nothing they'd love more than the issue to blow up so bad Devers started demanding a trade if they won't keep him at 3rd. That's not happening. Hopefully they get off to a quick start and this is all forgotten, but we know that won't always be the case. The first time Devers gets hurt or goes through a slump this will be brought back up. It's just human nature.
  11. Casas, has about 1,000,000 times more reason to be pissed about moving off 1B than Devers does 3B. Plus now you’re moving more guys off of position than just the one. let the kid grow at 1B and the I field might be better off for it. He’s young, talented, dedicated to the game, and there’s value in continuity. Devers can DH, at least 90% of the time.
  12. Let it be known. Players must suck up to reporters and aren’t allowed to be frustrated when asked the same question ten times in a row. all hail the media. Love and trust to the Boston sports media. Especially the all faithful and honest Shaughnessy!!!!
  13. This has been debated over and over again. We are running in circles. much like reporters asking Raffy the same question over and over and over again.
  14. I think my statements and what he said are easily consolidated. If no one told him he's moving off of third, then in his head he's still playing third. Why would he tell a stranger he's moving off of the position he's been told he's playing when his boss hasn't told him he's not playing third yet. In that situation you have to either feel blindsided by your boss or confused why a stranger is saying you were just demoted. So yes, he was confused and shocked built largely on the media hammering a question he didn't fully understand because of when and where it was coming from. To me it's clear there's a conversation between him and the team that needs to happen that has NOT happened.
  15. Ya'll are missing the point. Ya'll are 100% right but for all the wrong reasons. It's not about Devers doing what's best for the team, by all accounts he probably will. Just because he should move off of 3B doesn't mean he's not allowed to be disappointed he has to do so. He loves playing, and you should try to imagine the heartbreak he must have to have to switch. Now imagine being told this in private, getting angry, getting over it, then going out and playing ball and being a great DH. But instead he finds out in public and doesn't have that chance to grieve privately. It was an unnecessary shock. I don't think Raffy is good enough to play 3B, but I'm happy he cares enough to be pissed he's moving off of it. I feel bad he has to live in a world where people can't see past the forest for the trees and see what really happened yesterday. This might be the biggest mountain ever made of a mole hill. Call me back if he refuses to take batting practice next week and he's still talking about staying at 3B.
  16. Yes we all saw how Mookie Betts reacted when he found out by the media in a press conference.....oh wait, that's not how it happened.
  17. Common sense, look how he reacted and what he said. His reaction was clear cut and dry that of someone who was shocked and confused. I think his reaction was based more on that rather than him being a baby or unreasonable. If you stubbornly want something less anecdotal because you're sold on holding Raffy to the fire consider this: Up until just a week ago the Sox were quoted saying Bregman would play 2nd base. It's blatantly obvious they hadn't told him yet he wouldn't be playing 3B.
  18. It just amazes me whole the front office and ownership is apparently absolved from any wrong doing in this when at the surface it looks like they may have misled Devers.
  19. Nah, it's not about his acceptance of it. Everyone agrees he should be moved off of 3rd. It's the fact that he was blindsided by it. Imagine being blindsided with important news with a camera right on you taking your reaction in real. time. If Devers was being told he would stay at 3rd and then kept on getting told by reporters that's he not playing third when the team didn't tell him he has EVERY right to be upset. That doesn't mean he shouldn't or wont' do his job and switch. That interview by the way, as I said before was being misconstrued, you didn't hear Devers speak you heard an interpretation. It's real time game of telephone and tone gets lost in translation as well. Devers was more annoyed with the line of questioning, they effectively kept asking him the same questions over and over again and he was genuinely confused and got a little annoyed with them. I think that's a very human response. This whole thing is being blown WAY out of proportion.
  20. Isn't amazing how people can hate and distrust the front office for 1/2 a decade and then instantaneously take their side on this. None of us know anything for 100% certain right now, but it REALLY feels like Raffy has not been talked to about this and he was blindsided in that press conference. This suggests the Sox have not, or not done a very good job to talking to him about this.
  21. how do you know they DID? Devers acted like someone taken by surprise, so at this moment I believe they have not had a conversation with him. Cora did say that Bregman was going to play 2nd, and now they're saying 3rd. It almost feels like someone was lied to to get everyone on board with Bregman and now they're changing their tunes. Devers should move, but if he is blindsided by this he has EVERY right to be upset about it. And FTR, someone who speaks spanish and heard Raffy's tone will tell you it sounded like he was more upset with the media and their line of questioning than he is with the team. So maybe people should chill with the Devers hate for at least a little while until we know more.
  22. Well if I had an employee that was very good at something, and awful at something else but thought they were good at that one thing I'm going to have a conversation with them. A long, honest conversation highlighting their strengths and how much they mean to this company while simultaneously telling them that I need them to stop doing that one other thing. The way Devers acted in the press conference suggests he was very surprised, which suggests no such conversations have been had with Raffy. As I've said before, I'm going to wait until more about this situation is known. But for the most part, while I agree Raffy should move for the good of the team, it appears he may have very good reason to be upset at the way the Sox have gone about it.
  23. Sometimes you put your best employees on the toughest tasks, so more error is and should be expected. Obviously apples and oranges here because Raffy is not good at defense.
  24. I also heard from people who speak Spanish that the translation was not very good at all. We are all assuming a lot based on a s*** translation. Maybe he thought he was being asked if he'd would like to play 1B which is far different from will you play there. Maybe he thought he was being asked if he's been WORKING on 1B, which he hasn't. A lot gets lost in translation. Media jumped on it and people are blowing this up to be bigger than it needs to be right now.
  25. I think there's a decent chance he doesn't opt out, but if he wants more money it should be easy. All he has to do is get more than 125 to get more than what he'd have this year at 165. If a few teams were willing to give him 165/6 this year. Why wouldn't someone give him 140/6 or 130/5 next year? I do think there's a good chance he stays for two years though.
