  1. If the Sox decide to play Bregman at 3rd, and they tell Devers he's moving and he acts this way that is 100% a different story. That is wrong, he deserves strife, and that's a troubling issue. BUT THAT IS NOT the case, and the media has spun the issue to make it look so. Some swallowed it, some did not.
  2. No, I'm saying some people are a sucker for a headline and have zero ability to comprehend what really happen. The team never spoke to Devers about moving off position, up until now they've told him he's the 3rd baseman or at least up until that press conference. If you were being interviewed by the media and were asked about being fired when no one told you that you were fired you might be a little confused and angry as well. There's a difference between Devers saying "I'm the 3rd baseman" when the team NEVER told him otherwise vs. "I'm the 3rd baseman" when the team told him he was moving. Let me repeat that. There's a difference between saying "I'm playing third base" when the team tells you you're moving vs. if they' have NOT told you. We know they didn't tell him, we know he acted exactly like someone would have if they have not of had that conversation. For all you and everyone else knows, the moment they sit down with him and tell him he's going to move his next comments in a press conference very well may be "I'm going to do what's best for the team" people are mad at him for not saying that based on him not knowing it and tha'ts just stupidly absurd. The media served it up with the spin that he's reluctant to move off of position when in fact we didn't know what conversations were and were not had. You got played....and you swallowed it whole. I'm impressed actually.
  3. Actually it was translated. So it was LITERALLY NOT out of his mouth
  4. Some of us where yes, I believe you were among the sane with me. Others are going to have strong opinions for a lifetime all based on a headline.
  5. No....it really was. The media served up a big o plate of nothing and some of ya'll swallowed it
  6. the last few days have pretty much confirmed what I thought was obvious. The whole Devers 3B thing was a nothing burger.
  7. I actually saw Kristian Campbell play SS when he was down in Portland. Unfortunately, he never really had a chance to do anything other than make a routine play, but for what it's worth he made every single one. He played 36 games at both SS and 2nd last year, after that he played 25 games in CF, 5 at 3B and 16 times he was the DH.
  8. Ok, well...replace shove with MASH!!!
  9. Agreed, they have other options as well. A lot depends on how long Story would be out. They'd plug Hamilton or Gonzalez there, but I don't see them playing every day long term. There's also a scenario where Rafaela plays. There's a world where Mayer just shoves in spring training and Story goes down with a series injury. I still think in 999 out of 1,000 scenarios that doesn't involve injury to a starting position player Campbel/Anthony come up sooner.
  10. He's in the system a lot longer because he was drafted out of highschool. Also, you can't compare prospect timelines apples to apples, people progress at their own pace. While injury has probably delayed Mayers progression it's still very real, he doesn't automatically regain a full year of development on opening day. Campbell has jumped ahead of Mayer on the MLB readiness timeline.
  11. So you're saying "Yoshida" was blocking those guys lol. That's rubbish. Somebody always gets hurt. There's going to be some out for you. But if Mayer is the first one up as you say, and Campbell would play 2nd because Yoshida got hurt why not shift Story to 2nd and just call up Mayer instead of Campbell?. You won't be able to explain that one away.
  12. That makes more sense
  13. I don’t think he’s ready. And I doubt the Sox would break camp with Mayer in most scenarios
  14. Games would go back to 4 hours long if they had unlimited challenges. Games would be unwatchable
  15. I don’t think the Sox are going to rush someone to the majors just because someone goes down. I think it’s perfectly plausible that Mayer comes up of Story goes down in June, but not April.
  16. Sounds like he should be blocking Campbell and Anthony to me
  17. https://www.soxprospects.com/2025.htm projected opening day rosters. Sox have 3 rookies projected to break camp with the team. While one gets a lot of attention not a lot of people are talking about Carlos Narvaez, and Luis Guerrero. Narvaez has tremendous defensive potential behind the dish and if Guerrero is consistent could become a late inning reliable arm in the pen
  18. That’s the point dude, if they’re ready they’re going to start. You think the team is going to hold them back and not figure it out? im telling you right now they will reduce someone’s playing time. Probably some combination of Rafaela and Abreu. And yes, not every rookie is going to start because of the pick, but we aren’t talking about just a regular top prospect we are talking about two top ten guys who are allegedly on the brink of their MLB caterers. If they rake in spring training, they’re starting, certainly one. you wanna know who’s being benched definitively? Ask Cora.
  19. 0% factor if Campbell and Anthony are performing and deemed MLB ready.
  20. The fact that the pirates did it might be your point. But the fact that they paid a harsh price for it with the world watching is mine. I like mine better. certainly teams aren’t starting all their rookies. But if a guy is mlb ready, teams are going to be less inclined to try and manipulate service time and delay their big league careers. additionally, for elite prospects, top ten, which the Sox have TWO of good teams aren’t going to hold them back if they’re MLB ready for the likes of Yoshida, Abreu, yada yada yada. If that’s your reason, then given a full bill of health you think they keep those guys down in AAA all year? That makes no sense. Mayer needs more seasoning, if an injury happens early in ST then baring a very strong spring performance it’s just as likely the slide the more MLB ready Campbell there or seek other options until Mayer is ready. At least one and likely both of Campbell/Anthony in the bigs before Mayer is even more of a slam dunk.
  21. Yeah, and how f***ed are the pirates for not breaking camp with Skenes? Not sure why you’d use that example. That will probably be the example front offices use to never make that kind of mistake again. Skenes was a top 10 prospect just like Campbell and Anthony (Sox got 2). And he was kept down in the minors to get an extra year of team control then brought up mid may. Pirates tried to manipulate his service time. Turns out he was so dominate when he came up he still won rookie of the year. if they had not done that, they would have received a top draft pick for his award. And because he won it, they DID NOT get the extra year of control. Campbell also balances the lineup more, and is a versatile defender who may have a home in LF or 2B. I’d pick him to start the year in Boston
  22. So they could plug Campbell at 2nd, Bregman at 3rd and roll with Duran/Rafaela/Anthony in the outfield and super utility Rafaela. Cambell more likely than both he and Anthony to start the season. One is much more likely than both I’ll admit that. But in both scenarios you push Yoshida to the bench. Yoshida on the bench is NOT ideal. But if they think those guys are ready they’re not blocking them because Yoshida needs at bats. That ain’t going to happen
  23. You actually think Mayer is going to make the roster before Campbell and Anthony. Mayer will be the last of the three. Mayer will be mid season at some point. Anthony and Campbell will be early and one of them is breaking camp with the team. Teams aren’t keeping top prospects down anymore.
  24. Let’s rephrase. A rookie will be on the starting day roster. im not sure why anyone can honestly believe at least one of Campbell or Anthony wouldn’t be on it. This is obvious to me
