  1. And they win another 1 run game. They are 9-3 in one run games. Very lucky.
  2. I agree most fans would prefer to see more offense. That being the case, it really doesn't make any sense that MLB got rid of the juiced balls that they had last year. Too many homeruns? Bell has it right, they never should have started tinkering with the baseballs to begin with.
  3. The Oakland As, with their -10 run differential, should be 17-19 according to Pythagoras. They have no business currently being atop their division.
  4. That's the bottom line. It's tough to win a game in which you only score 1 run. I have no issue with Cora's decision to pull Perez.
  5. Weren't we all complaining about the new juiced baseballs just last year?
  6. I hope it's nothing serious. Good to see Devers back in the lineup.
  7. Verdugo was scratched (back issues). Arroyo in.
  8. Aww, Happy Birthday to your son! Don't screw this up Sox!
  9. And so, of course we struggle to win a game in which we score 11 runs against the worst offense in the league. Ugly, ugly game. But a win is a win.
  10. The other good news is that the Tigers as a team are batting .195/.255/.338. Their offense has an fWAR of -2.8. They are worse than replacement level.
  11. You are very good about that Bell. Very level headed.
  12. I agree with the idea of continuing to improve. I also agree that it's probably a good idea to send Cordero down to let him work on things in AAA. At the same time, I don't think it's a good idea to make decisions based on small sample sizes. It's a fine line sometimes. As far as adding an extra bench player, if there were someone we could call up who would be a fair improvement over what we have, and who doesn't need everyday at bats, I'd be a little more inclined to agree with it.
  13. The team's W-L record and 1st place standing is another reason why Cordero has been given a longer leash. There isn't the sense of urgency that there was to start last year. Regardless of the reasons, decisions should not be made based on 2 or 3 week samples. If teams did that regularly, they'd lose out on some great players.
  14. Questioning the manager is one of the rites of passage of being a regular Talksox poster.
  15. His peripheral stats do not offer a lot of encouragement.
  16. You guys are not right.
  17. This makes me sad. Not for him, but for the Sox.
  18. I really didn't want to trade Beni, but as you said, good for him. I'm glad that KC is playing so well right now. Unfortunately for them, I don't see it lasting. His trade was definitely a move geared towards the future and not this year.
  19. There's a long way to go Tyler. The Red Sox are scuffling just a bit. The Jays are on a 7-3 run. They, too, will hit a rough patch or two, or more.
  20. Even the Dodgers, who look to be in a class of their own, are 3-7 in their last 10 games.
  21. During our 9-game win streak, the team's batting line was .319/.380/.543/.922 and they averaged 7.4 runs per game. I think we all knew that was not sustainable. Over the last 17 games, the team's batting .244/.310/.409/.719 and averaging 3.9 runs per game. The offense isn't this bad either. They should settle somewhere nicely in the middle.
  22. Meh. If they were playing tonight, I'd watch. I am interested to see how much crap the Yankees fans give the Astros.
