  1. Good stuff.
  2. No doubt that some fans get carried away. I had to stop posting in the game threads for this very reason.
  3. There is no doubt that Sox fans are the best!
  4. Good post Oldtimer. It was very frustrating watching Chavis' at bats today. As you said, it was a good game nonetheless. Except for the final result.
  5. It is hard to sweep any team. I will take winning 2 out of 3 all year long. And yes, watching the Yankees lose always brings great joy.
  6. Our OF defense has been surprisingly good so far this season. Even JD in left field has looked pretty good.
  7. Die hard fans are not the most rational group of people around. You would not want to watch a baseball game with me when we're losing. LOL I let myself cool down before I come here and post anything.
  8. Today's game is a fine example of luck or randomness is baseball. Barnes himself said that he thought when Trout hit that weak blooper that the game was over.
  9. He is a true professional and he is very competitive. No one is harder on Sale than he is on himself. Hopefully, we'll see him back sometime around the trade deadline.
  10. I was just going to post that. LOL Today's loss was a heartbreaker, but at least the Yankees lost as well. And we won the series, which is the goal. Some tough luck in today's game.
  11. I agree about the quirkiness of baseball. I disagree with your semi-conviction that the As know how to win the close games. I have a strong conviction that teams do not know how to win close games, but that winning close games is more or less random. Good teams know how to win blowout games.
  12. Speaking of OFers, with Renfroe's DRS of +8 and his UZR/150 of 22.1, who needs Mookie (currently with a DRS of 0 and a UZR/150 of -9.4) in right field?
  13. I believe that the Sox FO had moderate expectations of this team being able to contend. I'm sure they thought Franchy would perform better than he has up to this point and that the platoon of OF players would be sufficient to keep us competitive (which they have been). I think trading Beni will end up being a good move in the long term, but I didn't like it because it weakened our OF for this year. Either way, I would have liked another OFer in the offseason, but I understand the desire not to go over the luxury tax this season. At least not until the FO had a better idea of how the team would perform.
  14. I posted something in one of the game threads that the As had no business being in first place in their division, much less being 7 games over .500, with that run differential. Losing series like the series against the As is going to happen over the course of the season. We have to keep the bigger and overall picture in mind.
  15. No, leave them where they are. Suddenly, the bottom of our line up is not the huge black hole that they looked like a week ago. Patience.
  16. And the Red Sox once again have the best winning % in baseball. That said, I'm a huge fan of run differential, which is what I was going off of. In terms of run differential, the White Sox are still tops.
  17. I don't have any regrets about losing Moncada or Kopech, per se. I certainly don't have any regrets about having Sale.
  18. The Sox are not in dire need of anything right now. Our pitching staff has kept us in pretty much every game except for 2 or 3. There is nothing in the peripheral stats to suggest that the rotation has been lucky or that they are not pitching as well as their results are indicating. The rotation always had the potential to be quite good. It's a matter of staying healthy.
  19. Depends on how you look at the move. This was definitely a move geared towards the long term, in which case it might end up being a really good move. Questionable in terms of this year, for sure. Personally, I thought we should have kept Beni.
  20. The White Sox are the best team in baseball right now.
  21. I still think that the Yankees will win the division. However, I think this Sox team is a lot better than people gave and are still giving them credit for. Our current winning percentage of .595 would give us 96 wins over the season. I don't think we'll sustain that pace, but definitely think we will contend for a playoff spot all season. I'm looking forward to knocking the Yankees out in the ALCS.
  22. Sure they are. Unless you want to go by ERA alone. Advanced metrics puts them #3 or #4.
  23. Me too. I hate losing. I want to erase the sour taste as soon as possible.
