  1. One reason I have a soft spot for the Jays is that they have generally always played the Yankees tough. I still remember that doubleheader on September 20, 1978, when the Jays almost swept a pair from the Yanks to do us a huge favor but the damn Yanks pulled the second one out in the ninth... 😉
  2. Skenes and Skubal are pipe dreams. The asks would start with Anthony and Early.
  3. The Dodgers also have 4 starting pitchers they're paying about $2 billion that are all healthy at the same time. A lockout is coming after 2026 for sure.
  4. Any team interested in trading an established starting pitcher is likely in cheap/rebuild mode and would be asking for guys like Early and Password, not Duran who is just about to start getting more expensive. IMHO.
  5. Well, at least they're spending again. The extensions for Crochet and Anthony weren't chump change. Nor was the $61 million they expended for 1 year of Bregman and Buehler. There's hope in that area again, at least.
  6. Yeah, Duran has only been our best player the last 3 seasons, get him the hell out of here. 😆
  7. It just can't be said enough. 😇
  8. The Brewers scored 1 run in each game for a total of 4. Brutal!
  9. What is a statement game, exactly?
  10. True, but this one might be more entrenched than we give credit for. Last time they missed the playoffs was 2012. They've got Ohtani and Yamamoto for a long long time. And several more years of Mookie.
  11. It's OK to have an evil empire if they're vulnerable...the Dodgers may not be that for a while.
  12. I was born in 1956. I was a bandwagon Dodgers fan in 1965-1966 when Koufax and Drysdale were in their glory. Shifted to the Sox around 1969.
  13. You are a passionate baseball fan, Kimmi. I used to be but now I'm much more of an impartial onlooker. I still love every Red Sox win and every Red Sox loss, and the 4 titles are balm for my soul. But the game itself has become a little boring to me. Pitching is just so dominant that a lot of games are over early. I'm not thrilled about the Dodgers rolling like this, either. Not as bad as if it was the Yankees, but it's starting to get pretty annoying. I think they're going to win another one this year. I'll try to jinx them, that's about all I can do. 😉
  14. FanGraphs says 28.2 million. Pretty close. There have been many worse deals.
  15. Hopefully they also have a plan for his replacement.
  16. Artie Fishel, the A in AI. Very smart guy.
  17. These LCS series shape us as Dullsville. Feels like a couple of sweeps or 4-1 jobs, and the only excitement will be for those who love 2-1 games.
  18. Runs scored in final games of LDS series: 7 5 (15 innings) 4 3 (11 innings) Total 19 in 44 innings Average per team 1.94 per 9 innings Pitching dominating to an almost ridiculous degree.
  19. The pitcher numbering thing is silly yet somehow irresistible, or maybe unavoidable is the right word. There's a perfectly logical statistical answer to what is a #2. A #2 is in the top 20% to top 40% of starters. An average #2 would be around the 30% mark.
  20. Congratulations Mariners and condolences Tigers. 15 innings in Game 5, wow.
  21. Seconded. RIP Mike. Gone too soon.
  22. So the question is why is Duran's projected WAR that much higher than Abreu's. I assume it's based on a formula and that Abreu gets dinged for his durability issues. But I'm just guessing obviously. I don't use BTV.
  23. But why do you think that? I assume it's because of projected WAR.
