  1. Flip, flop and fly, man. It's what we do.
  2. At the end of the day, averaging 4.5 WAR per season over the last 2.5 seasons is pretty good. Either that or we might as well chuck WAR, I guess.
  3. I'm not criticizing what you're saying. I get it, in close games any little physical or mental blunder can make the difference. And when you lose those things get magnified bigly.
  4. Agreed, but Duran led the Red Sox in extra base hits, and by a lot. He had 70 and the next best was 54. He was not the problem with the offense.
  5. No, but they needed to get a bat after they traded him. Like I said in the other thread, 2 egregious errors by Craig - that one and trading Priester for prospects.
  6. What about the advanced defensive stats, how did we end up there?
  7. The errors hurt but I'm not really buying that they're the reason we're out. Because it's baseball and therefore you can often find multiple explanations. We scored 6 runs in 3 games - our offense was feeble without Anthony. And Bello's crappy start didn't help. And even if we did win this series, we were in pretty bad shape without Anthony and Giolito. We were a pretty good team but we were THIN. Losing a guy like Anthony is crushing when you're that thin.
  8. One more time: Go Jays!
  9. Batting average? Schwarber hit .240.
  10. If Cohen wants Alonso back he's pretty much off the table.
  11. True but Casas has that big body and these were very nasty and very different injuries. I'm not writing him off, but he is a big question mark at this stage. The fact his defense has been so bad is another mark against him.
  12. Yes. And our rotation was decimated once Giolito went down.
  13. Everybody hates those kind of mistakes, but when you have a lot of young players and backup types playing I think some of it's to be expected. The big thing is we scored 6 runs in 3 games.
  14. It's pretty easy betting on the house! 😉
  15. And planning with Casas is no easy matter. Back to back seasons wiped out by injury at his age casts doubt on his whole career.
  16. Sign Tucker first and then we can talk. 😀
  17. Yes, if Cohen wants Alonso back, we're wasting time even thinking about him.
  18. You're preaching to the choir about the offense. That's exactly why I'm not as excited about trading Duran and Abreu as some folks are.
  19. Signing Tucker changes the picture for sure. My comments are based more on where we are right now. It's hard for me to assume much in the way of big signings. They have to deal with Bregman first, if they lose him, we're down another very good player.
  20. There's never enough depth at starting pitcher. We saw it this year for ourselves.
  21. You're not trading Abreu for a stud pitcher, so there's that.
  22. As we saw with Anthony and Abreu going down at the same time, depth disappears in a heartbeat. You can say the same about trading Priester. Depth is never ever a bad thing and you're not required to take it way from yourself.
  23. Abreu is a platoon player. A platoon of Abreu and Refsnyder was excellent. Injuries plus platoons mean you do need some depth.
