    Story and Yoshida were both abominable signings. The only times they let Bloom spend on free agents and he whiffed twice.

    It's just one game, but it was a thoroughly demoralizing one for sure. And I have very little confidence in tonight's game, especially in our ability to get on the damn scoreboard. We have scored 71 runs in our last 25. Gray may have to pitch the game of his life.

    No, I hate the 23rd in runs as my other posts should show. We were 10th in OPS+. There's something weird and enigmatic about this team's hitting. It sure can disappear for long stretches.

    Yes. At the same time we'd also have won more games if Duran and Story repeated 2025. I certainly get your point, but I have to agree with Drewski that at the end of the day the 2026 team's biggest problem was scoring runs. It's a weird feeling for Sox fans to have one of the best prevention teams and one of the worst production teams.

    There was an article in the Wall Street Journal yesterday about how local guys Schlittler and Rice were now the Sox worst nightmare. Yikes.

    In September the Sox scored 71 runs in 24 games. Last time they scored more than 4 was September 12. Last time they scored more than 5 was September 3. They did not score more than 6 once in September.

    If the playoffs are totally random, the Dodgers shouldn't have won 3 of the last 6. There is definitely some randomness in the playoffs because of the short series. But it's by no means a pure randomness.

    Sounds simple, but major league pitchers throw in the high 90's, spin the ball insanely and dot the strike zone. They have the edge.

    The Sox offense in September looks exactly like the Sox offense in April. Hot weather hitters only? I don't know but the numbers are pretty grim.

    The Sox are 6-5 against the Rays this year, starting 1-5 but now having won 5 in a row. As for predictions, I make none. I refrain from trying to predict outcomes of baseball games any more. It's a hilariously random game.

    Who the hell knows? It's baseball. The Sox obviously need their stud pitchers to keep performing - Tolle, Gray, Suarez, Whitlock, Chapman. Plus a few other contributors obviously. The lineup and bench is pretty good now. Just need the pitching to stay at that high level.

    Yes, exactly. I have high hopes for AR, it would be great to have a star-level catcher again. The injury concerns are obviously very real.

    Bregman has been on fire. As has Devers. But the Sox have gone 47-19 and Durbin has played very well and is much cheaper, so Brez is in the clear for now. 😄
