    Nobody that's posting here today is throwing in any towels. But the facts are that the team has looked like total crap in 4 important games against the Yankees and Orioles, losing by a combined score of 25-11, and it's basically only this rinky-dink Wild Card setup and blind luck that still gives us a chance to scrape into a postseason game.

    A lot of this is just silly. For example, the only reasons people advocated for Porcello were the assumption he'd come very cheaply and his ability to eat innings would have some value.

    Bringing back JBJ after a season in which he hit about a buck sixty doesn't strike me as a slam dunk PR win.

    But if every single hitter is trying to hit home runs, it follows that fielding isn't as important any more.

    But if we lose tonight, guaranteeing that we lose this series, then we really do deserve to miss the WC game.

    The Red Sox have a team BA of .261. The Rays have a team BA of .241.

    Replacing Vazquez is not going to lower the BABip against.

    It is and it isn't. Great things were expected of the 2011 team. The first half of the 2021 season was a pleasant surprise and our regression isn't that much of a shock. One thing to watch for, though, is that Henry and Werner might put some pressure on Bloom to make the team a contender for 2022 no matter what it takes, after 3 seasons out of the playoffs.

    4th in a row. And suddenly we can't hit lefties. Cortes, Monty, Zimmerman. And we've scored 8 runs in 3 games.

    With a -52 differential, the M's are lucky to have any chance at all.

    The thing about the MVP award is that there is clear precedent for guys on non-contending teams winning it (although they're probably at a disadvantage).
