If we must re-litigate Dave, I will offer a couple of key points that tend to get overlooked. 1) The payroll problems that the team had going into 2020 were not a personal creation of Dave's by any means. They were the end product of a series of transactions that started during Ben's time. I'd be happy to go through that point any time. 2) Dave hired Cora, for which he should get major, major points as far as what he left behind.

I agree with your point. And in the best of 5 they use a 2-2-1 format. The only real problem with the 2-2-1-1-1 is the potential amount of travel required for the last 3 games.

That requires a bit of detail. Platooning a guy like Joc Pederson as they did made sense. He mashed RH pitching and was helpless against LH pitching.

6-7 years for Stroman would be absolute lunacy. I don't see him getting that from anyone.

Graterol faced 3 RH hitters. Rosario and Freeman are LH hitters. Jansen must be better against LH hitters. It almost seems like Dave Roberts is freaking out a bit with all the pitching deployments. One thing that was interesting was that Roberts said the pitching lineup in Game 5 against the Giants was not entirely his decision, that he was just 'one of the voices'. It'll make for nice second-guessing fodder if the Braves can somehow win this.

The Dodgers had a run differential of +269. They don't really have major flaws. But they can still be beaten on any given day.

This postseason is shaping up as a good one for the 'playoffs are a crapshoot' argument.

Also, even crappy MLB teams like BAL and TEX are still MLB teams, and capable of scoring runs if you pitch badly.

Syndergaard is risky as hell too. Not only has he missed the last 2 seasons, but he also missed a pile of time in 2017-2018, making only 32 starts in those 2 seasons combined.

What are the chances of a 3 year deal with E-Rod for something like $45 mill? It's dicey, I know, but just anything Bloom does on the starting pitching front probably will be.

The question is what he can do about the starting pitching with $40 million or whatever he has to work with. The Richards and Perez signings were not really part of his 2021 successes...
