  1. And remember Cash had that fatal attraction thing years ago? She was kind of scary-looking, too. Yes, I think there may be a few skeletons in the closet in Yankeeland...
  2. My optimism will increase if Thunder starts the game thread.
  3. Watching pitchers bat is one of those things you want to be over as quickly as possible so they can get back to the real game.
  4. I have neither optimism or pessimism about Game 6. In baseball all you can do is watch and hope it's your day or night LOL
  5. Whether Whitlock starts or is in the pen, it makes sense to acquire another starter. Yes, Bloom missed on Richards, but so what. Every GM has misses. Bloom has more hits than misses.
  6. I don't think anyone gets very upset about borderline pitches. It's the clear-cut misses that hurt. When a pitch 6 inches outside the zone is called a strike, or vice versa, and it impacts the game, there's no way you can convince me that makes the game better for anyone.
  7. Maybe your worst post ever.
  8. That's a pretty good point.
  9. Average fan: Schwarber was a god when he hit that slam in Game 3. Now he's just a guy who's 0 for 8 the last 2 games.
  10. Sure, I'm fine with that. I was responding more to oldtimer calling him a "weakness" and suggesting that he and Dalbec should be "moved".
  11. There's nothing quite like the non-stop roller coaster ride baseball can give you. One day you're high as a kite. The next you're lower than a snake's belly.
  12. Some also say Cashman has compromising material on Hal...
  13. Renfroe had 31 HR and 96 RBI this year while making a relatively small 3.1 million. He's in a slump right now, that's all. Have some patience.
  14. I don't know, but again, the team keeps making the playoffs, injuries or not.
  15. Because he's made some excellent moves, in isolation, and his teams generally make the playoffs. It's possible his analytics people and/or scouts have been letting him down lately, who knows? Do you really think he wouldn't be hired?
  16. Yes, but obviously they wanted another lefty. And Perez has good numbers against lefties. Just hasn't validated 'em.
  17. Baseball is so much about the analytics and game planning now. There was some talk that the Red Sox might have detected pitch tipping by Houston pitchers that contributed to our offensive barrage. I think the Houston people went to work and figured some things out. Now we have to do the same.
  18. Personally, I'd stay far away from him, just as you would.
  19. Complaints about Perez should probably be directed toward the front office rather than Cora. Bloom signed the guy two years in a row. And at the trade deadline, the only lefty he added to the pen was Austin Davis. Leaving Cora with one good lefty in the pen, Taylor, plus Perez and DHern.
  20. Well, in fairness, the Yankees have made the playoffs a high percentage of those 18 years. Sure he'd get a job. But his resume is losing some luster in my books. I infinitely prefer Bloom.
  21. Yeah, one pennant in the last 18 years just doesn't cut it, when you're the Yankees and spending $200 million plus a year.
  22. Trying to sneak in a CERA reference there, I see.
  23. Umps are just men trying to do a job, like most of us. Calling balls and strikes accurately is demonstrably extremely difficult, and even the best umps have an error rate. Giving them some help from technology just seems to make sense.
  24. This makes no sense whatsoever!!! Houck gave a game-tying 2-run bomb to Altuve in Game One, did you forget that? And you're trying to blame Cora for turning around the series by not replacing Whitlock after he pitched a scoreless seventh? Stick to critiquing your doofus manager, please.
