  1. I know this won't convince you either, but here are their career splits against LH hitters (only about 79 MLB innings for each) Houck .653 OPS DHern .571 OPS
  2. While I agree that $7 mill is a lot for Vazquez, I really don't think it's the back-breaker you guys are making it sound like. It's a one year commitment. I'm not sure there's a slam dunk replacement for him. My guess is they keep him. Bigger fish to fry.
  3. Hernandez had been pitching very well though. And he normally doesn't give up a lot of hard contact either, with a .338 SLGA, virtually identical to Houck's .332 SLGA. Totally logical move by Cora that didn't work out.
  4. A large segment of "sports fans" are selfish, miserable, hateful pricks. They only love the team when it's winning. At least baseball players who mess up don't get killed the way soccer players do, I guess...
  5. Exactly right. And while it burned us last night, I like the rule.
  6. Yeah, it's brutal. But so predictable.
  7. Disagree. Houck issued 4 walks. in less than 2 innings. That's not indicative of a pitcher who's on his game. Hernandez just had to get Rizzo. That was his job. When he plunked Rizzo that opened up the possibility of what happened.
  8. There's no quit in you, huh, Max?
  9. Quivering bowl of jello? Jeezus. They had a bad game, that's all.
  10. Why should be players be loyal to fans, Kimmi? Fans are the first to want them gone when they're not performing. Fans are only loyal as long as the player is consistently delivering.
  11. Giants are up 2.0 again. Amazing stuff.
  12. But as I was saying, the fans don't really have any loyalty to the players either. It's all about the laundry and which GM is doing the best job moving the pieces and keeping the payroll under control.
  13. It seems pretty clear that Mookie preferred LA to Boston. The money he got from them was not even that much more than the Red Sox offer. There was the pandemic factor, but after all the time he waited to get to free agency, was that really such a big deal to him?
  14. It's a business for most. And most fans, if you can judge by those who post here, are totally heartless. "Player X is a bum." "Player X is ridiculously overpaid." "Cut Player X." "Trade Player X." "Don't re-sign Player X." You are not a typical fan. I mean that in a good way.
  15. Shaw has played some 2b as well.
  16. There is no refutation. We do have respect for many numbers here.
  17. SPLENDIDSPLINTER = Ted Williams SPLENDIDSPLITTER = Koji Uehara
  18. We're basically talking about one player?
  19. Lots of great calls Jax.
  20. He corrected your grammar. Never trust an accountant.
  21. Tito maybe left Beckett in that game too long?
  22. So how much is 1 WAR worth in your calculations, mvp?
  23. Actually, if he only DH'd this year his WAR would be over 3, which is worth more than $20 mill in free agent dollars.
  24. They're all hired guns, man.
  25. Hey, remember when Cora ditched all CERA concerns in the 2018 postseason? I do. It worked out.
