  1. That's what I'm talkin' about.
  2. Food is definitely one of the things I'm traditionalist about.
  3. The landscape is changing rapidly though.
  4. This is exactly why I think WAR is the correct measuring stick.
  5. Personally I think Henry does care about winning quite a bit. And he's willing to spend, he just wants to be smart about it.
  6. Yeah, I guess I'm not done. But I do mean to be more respectful to those who don't want the robo calls. I understand their position. I'm traditionalist about some things too.
  7. You're right that there has to be a cost advantage of some sort. I don't think Bloom would offer a deal that had no apparent advantage for the team.
  8. I think things will head in that direction for sure.
  9. Right. Just like with baseball, in football sometimes it's humanly impossible to get the call right without replay.
  10. So you just don't like American football. It's got little to do with the replays.
  11. I just want to say that Smoltz gets on my nerves frequently too, but sometimes he is dead on. He practically called the 3 run jack by Soler, said he was seeing that same pitch repeatedly and getting it timed, and there it was again, and boom.
  12. I don't like it, but it is what it is. Numbers are hard to get around.
  13. Holy crap, Ray is the poster boy for hooking after the second time through. 2021: 1st 596 2nd 550 3rd 930 And that's 193 PA's in the third number.
  14. Want more injuries, do we?
  15. Put glue on the bags then. The bags are the real problem. They're not exactly high-tech equip.
  16. 'Course not.
  17. A $40 Mill AAV for 2 years would really put a strain on the Sox budget. Unless...that rumor about the Sox front office really wanting Scherzer had some truth in it. Maybe John Henry is about ready to party again?
  18. Captain Obvious says that dead arm thing of Max's is not to be taken lightly. We've seen what happens to pitchers who get pushed a little beyond their limits in the postseason.
  19. At this point you can probably just look at total innings and game logs, because all the managers are using the data.
  20. Speaking of 1B, that's an example of how the rules allow for the fact that the important thing is getting to the base in time, not staying glued to it.
  21. Don't need an actual hologram if it's stipulated that the foot just has to stay over the bag. The hologram can be imaginary.
  22. Did you see the projection? 2 years * $40 mill.
  23. Kimmi, the argument in this case is that the player should still be safe if he "momentarily" separates from the bag after hitting it. The fact that it even happens was only detected by high-resolution ultra-slow-mo and stop-action video. The equipment of baseball cleats and bags are not designed for perfect adhesion. Plus others have said the 'safe space' should extend upward from the bag like a hologram or something.
  24. All major sports have had the door open to replays for years now. And it has certainly led to plenty of griping, but I don't think it has impaired the enjoyment of fans all that much.
