  1. As of now the Cot's Contracts estimate of our 2022 payroll for tax purposes is about $199,000 - $11,000 under the 2021 first threshold. That includes Paxton. But of course we don't even know what the 2022 tax brackets will be.
  2. The budget is something only the front office knows. But we will still have one of the highest payrolls in baseball.
  3. Personally I'm relieved where these big names are signing so far.
  4. Stroman to the Cubs.
  5. I don't think anyone is thrilled about these signings. But I appreciate that Bloom is working with a tight budget and it's not easy to get quality starters without shelling out a lot of money.
  6. Actually they are talking about some major revamping in the divisions, I believe.
  7. Your primary opponents in the AL West haven't done much either.
  8. Now I have no idea what you're trying to say.
  9. In the Red Sox favor is that their competitors in the AL East have also done little.
  10. Yeah, I'll bet no one actually said that.
  11. I think if we didn't sign them, someone else would have. The other question is irrelevant.
  12. That would probably trigger the spending again, assuming Henry is still around.
  13. And what's the point of that point? We have no idea if other teams were in on Paxton. We only find out who actually signed him.
  14. Sox settled with Plawecki for 2.25 mill.
  15. Unfortunately, if a lockout occurs as expected, transactions are shut down.
  16. I think they've definitely done a philosophical re-set.
  17. It's an odd question when you've only been here a few months. moon was definitely one of the more hopeful posters about the 2021 Sox toward the end when they looked like toast.
  18. And you're really becoming a broken record with this.
  19. That's not a problem.
  20. I think that's 100% correct.
  21. Yes, you're right. The $35 mill worst case scenario would only be if they exercise the option.
  22. We might be over the 2022 cap already, after Vaz, Wacha, Paxton, arb raise for Renfroe etc.
  23. No signings of pitchers should inspire anything resembling faith. I do expect Bloom to make well-educated gambles, and I think that's all you can ask. Even if Paxton washes out completely, $35 mill is not going to destroy us. Just my take.
  24. The way I read it, the option covers 2023 and 2024, so 2.3 to 2.5.
  25. I'm fine with it. Still trust what Bloom is doing.
