  1. I don't understand why it was cancelled.
  2. I suppose one could relate this to something like Kimmi's claims about Dombrowski's trade for Sale being "overkill". Too much expenditure to get better, law of diminishing returns and all that.
  3. Ha ha, yes, the posse is really something. I guess it's appropriate that you are one of the leaders, living in Texas as you do.
  4. Sure was. It was kind of amusing, actually. Or, some might say, sycophantic.
  5. Yes, I have to agree about spreading the risk. So far his misses have been easily survivable. Like Richards and Perez. Sure they were like crumbled dung after the sticky stuff crackdown. But it didn't hurt us that much on the field or in payroll commitments.
  6. Column by Peter Abraham in the Globe coincides with the following points from posters: 1) It was all about the prospects. Bloom seems really high on both. 2) Sold high on Renfroe (Bloom didn't say that, Abraham did). Abraham also mentioned Renfroe's defensive issues. 3) Bloom expects some offensive bounce-back from JBJ. So there you have it, folks. Maybe it looks FOS to some, but I can see the reasoning behind it.
  7. True, but the year before that JBJ was good and Renfroe sucked. It's luck of the draw with a lot of these guys.
  8. It's definitely a transaction you'd like to hear Bloom's reasoning on. Maybe we will.
  9. Personally I suspect it had a lot to do with Hunter's s***** defense.
  10. There is no "elite clique" here. We're all just a bunch of random Red Sox fans and we all think a little differently. I'm one of the most frequent posters, along with moon, notin and mvp78. I agree with them on some things and disagree on others. I don't think anyone tries to lord it over anyone here. I was on a board once called Sawxheads where the posters split up into two main groups, optimists and pessimists, and it got very ugly. This board is much better.
  11. Sorry, what did you want to know was true or not?
  12. There ain't no "self proclaimed posse". You must have an active fantasy life.
  13. I said what I said and it was clear. Not sure what you're missing.
  14. He said it's "hard to grasp", didn't he? You either have bad reading comprehension, or you're just a regular old troll. Starting to lean toward the latter.
  15. Accusing fellow posters of being "sycophants" and being in an "elite clique" is pretty damn obnoxious to me, yes.
  16. Who's in this clique you speak of? Name names. All this "they" s*** is really lame.
  17. Well, I'd say you've officially become one of the obnoxious ones. Before this you posted your little joke about 'if Bloom took a dump in the outfield' more than once. So yeah, you've definitely made the grade. Congrats.
  18. Bloom sure likes bringing 'em back, I must say. In the last few months he's brought back Shaw, Iggy, Hill and JBJ!
  19. C'mon now, harms. You're conveniently leaving out the subtractions of Correa and Greinke. And yes, I realize they could still sign them, but that wasn't the point. As of today, the Astros are not better than last year, they're worse.
  20. Have to think Bloom was really disappointed by Renfroe's overall defensive scores, too.
  21. Here's all I can figure out about what we saw the last few weeks: -The usual high payroll teams, Dodgers/Yankees/Red Sox, were very nervous about adding payroll because of the uncertainty about the new CBA. (With the exception of the new rich owner, Steve Cohen, who said 'Screw it, let's have some fun.') -Players were anxious to sign before the lockout with whoever was willing to pay them. -It was a perfect opportunity for teams like the Tigers and Rangers to sign guys without having to outbid Dodgers/Yankees/Red Sox. (Although the Rangers did nonetheless pay a ridiculous amount for Seager.)
  22. No one expects the Spanish Inquisition.
