  1. Making it to the 6th game of the ALCS in your second season when you haven't been able to spend much, or trade much, is pretty good, IMHO.
  2. Right, but the other point is, for $7 million, you're going to get a guy with weaker numbers. He's $7 million for a reason. Bloom has shown he can find some undervalued players, so why not have a little trust that he has done his due diligence and thinks it's a worthwhile play?
  3. Of course. He was also very expensive for that reason.
  4. Maybe Wacha will be 2022's Pivetta. Pivetta was a lot better than expected this year. That's the way baseball is. The bottom line is, you're not going to get a guaranteed stud starter for $7 million. It costs $77 million just to get you E-Rod, who had a 4.74 ERA this year.
  5. D'oh! ALDS.
  6. Because you were just bragging about smart the Rays are?
  7. Hmmm, who won the ALCS between Boston and Tampa this year?
  8. Oh, so now you're getting all fancy with analyzing stuff.
  9. Career ERA's Wacha 4.14 E-Rod 4.16 Wacha is better! End of story.
  10. If you're not going just by ERA, stop pounding away about Wacha's ERA.
  11. Jesus, Red, listen to yourself for a second. You're freaking out because Bloom signed a guy with a 5 ERA for $7 mill. Then you're saying we should have paid E-Rod the $77 mill Detroit did. What was his ERA in 2021? Oh yeah, 4.74. So I guess having an ERA a tick under 5 is worth an extra $70 mill. Too funny.
  12. So you've lost faith in Henry then.
  13. So much whinin' over one little signin'.
  14. You really don't have much faith in Bloom then.
  15. I don't have the answer. Maybe they shell out for Stroman, or maybe they swing a trade. What I know is that it's November 27.
  16. This guy is replacing Perez, not E-Rod.
  17. Depth signings, 1 year contracts, some upside indicators. It's not that complicated when one gives it a little thought.
  18. Yep. He's your 2022 Perez. Addition by subtraction followed by subtraction by addition? Oh well, at least there'll be no Sticky Stuff Surprises in 2022.
  19. Fair point Jax.
  20. Wacha finished strongly in the regular season. Last 8 games 3.20 ERA, .565 OPSa. In Bloom I trust.
  21. I'll guess 4.5 mill.
  22. Still no word on the dollars. Guesses? Hopefully not much more than 3-4 mill.
  23. Well, to be fair, some of his moves were greeted with more like indifference.
  24. A move that is sure to be more condemned than praised here!
  25. Hypothetical question for you and notin: if you knew Whitlock could deliver 150 quality innings next year as a starter, would you still keep him in the bullpen?
