  1. So it's all CERA. You know, if ERA is a deeply flawed stat, it follows that CERA is, too.
  2. Because your low opinion seems to be tied to your belief that he doesn't handle the pitching staff well, but you also point out how good the pitching was this year. That's the disconnect.
  3. There's a pretty big disconnect between your opinion of Vaz and your posts about how good the pitching numbers would have been this year if the defense was better.
  4. Picking and choosing which players we got for the money isn't much of a methodology.
  5. And Pina is a backup catcher.
  6. What? Devers had a .352 OBP this year, not to mention a .538 SLG. And he was only 24.
  7. Yeah, just like age. Some sayings are stoopid.
  8. They got 6 years of Verdugo (3 at minimum pay) for 1 year of Mookie. Some would say that's a win right there.
  9. I suppose they want to get rid of the term ******** too.
  10. Renfroe says hi.
  11. "too short" = strawman If Mookie breaks down it'll be the usual suspects of age and injuries. He did miss 40 games this year.
  12. We "almost" swept the Astros, with the bullpen blowing leads in games 1 and 4.
  13. Yeah, this seems like some pre-judging to me.
  14. The question with Dalbec's bat now seems to be the streakiness. As mvp has alluded to, he was basically shelved in the postseason, presumably because he looked to be in one of his ice cold streaks.
  15. Holy Multiple Metaphors, Batman!
  16. You don't think those great drawn-out dramatic moments of hitters and pitchers muttering and making faces and taking extra time to gather themselves after a perceived bad call are going to be missed?
  17. There was an overturned call in last night's game, at first base. It could have had an impact. The replay didn't take long. It didn't affect my enjoyment of the game, in fact I felt better that they got the call right, even though it went against Atlanta and I was hoping for them. I don't know, I guess we're all just wired differently.
  18. You mean "dead arm, age, $30 million AAV and all."
  19. I expect Scherzer would be looking for at least $30 mill in AAV regardless of the years.
  20. And there have been plenty of instances of umps taking the law into their own hands. If you've been watching baseball a long time, you've probably heard commentators say things like "He better be swinging at this next pitch, if it's anywhere near the plate!" - because the hitter has done something to piss off the ump, and the ump is itching to ring him up...
  21. We may not see anything happen until the new CBA gets done, and that sounds like a big problem in itself.
  22. Austin Riley impresses me.
  23. Some of the umps actually do a good job, of course-as good as is humanly possible, at least.
  24. We'll make sure there's an Eephus Pitch Robot in the package.
