The good news, as such, is that you can still have an exciting and eventful game like last night in spite of so many guys swishing up a storm. Just have to reduce expectations for what constitutes good baseball, I guess.
OK, this is the third response so now I'm going to pivot. Boddicker chocked in Game 3 of the 1988 ALCS and that impaired my opinion of him. I was expecting him to be Johnny Clutch for us in that game and he got lit up. 😛
Gagne was dreadful but he did at least pitch some innings that might have gone to Papelbon or Okajima so there may have been some benefit. It was a logical move and they won the ring so I've never faulted Theo for that one.
And what do you think are the actual chances of Breslow acquiring 2 starters and replacing Cora? The chances are zero so why bother engaging in such fanciful thinking?
Sorry but how is this even a question when you just saw what actually happened when they tried moving Devers around? Devers was the guy with the monster contract and big ego who was promised he would be staying at third. It was a problem waiting to happen.
What exactly makes you think Abreu is a platoon hitter and Duran isn't? You've been saying this over and over. But Duran's numbers against lefties are lousy too.
To me 'future gazing' and 'wait till next year' can be one and the same. Trading Chapman is a wait till next year move.
Gleyber has averaged 3.0 bWAR per 162 games. A little above average but he hasn't lived up to expectations.
Run scoring is a problem all across baseball.
Red Sox 4.90 per game
Phillies 4.57 per game
Average team 4.39 per game
Pitching is dominant in this game.
