  1. Boy, you really made your second post in 2.5 months count! 🤣
  2. I think we all would like a starting pitcher.
  3. They're actually not that far apart, excluding the 'urgency' factor. Philly is 3 games ahead of us in the overall standings. We have a better run differential.
  4. They went 17-7 in July with a run differential of +51. Maybe Cora is doing something right.
  5. He's been better than that, moon. He has a higher fWAR than any Sox reliever except Chapman.
  6. We're averaging 4.88 runs right now so there's something wrong with your numbers. We're 4th in MLB in runs per game, I'm pretty sure that's the highest we've been. You'd also have to look at the pitching we've been facing to analyze it properly. You're not making much of a case.
  7. 20% is fair.
  8. Well, some people did consider trading Devers a white flag, I realize that. The difference is we have a bunch of hitters who are doing well and have made up for the loss of Devers. Bregman, Duran, Rafaela, Abreu, Anthony, Story, Narvaez, Ref & Romy. We do not have a bunch of guys who can make up for losing Chapman. This is pretty obvious stuff.
  9. We may not be clearly better but we are very competitive with those other AL teams. I think you're pretty close to conceding that we have a decent chance at the pennant.
  10. And we could easily eliminate them too. You are way overrating these other AL teams.
  11. How about that 5 for 3 trade I mentioned? I'd like to hear your response to that. Forget about the closer thing. Chapman is a great reliever. And Cora has been using him prior to the 9th when the situation warrants it.
  12. Which AL teams are you so scared of?
  13. Thank you for bringing some actual insight to the matter.
  14. And you know better than to compare the WAR of an everyday player to that of a reliever who pitches 60 innings or so. Chapman, Whitlock, Weissert, J Wilson and Bernardino have a combined bWAR of 4.2. Trading them for 3 everyday players with a total bWAR of 4.3 would not be smart.
  15. You know the reason. Trading Devers was a big deal for the franchise.
  16. Bad parallel IMHO. They only traded Devers because of attitude issues. Chapman's attitude has been superb.
  17. IMHO the real question should be can we win the pennant. The NL is obviously the stronger league, but we only have to beat AL teams to get to the Series.
  18. They obviously don't like Grissom's defense and it appears they're also skeptical that his hitting at AAA will translate to the bigs.
  19. Buying while trading Chapman is just a wacko idea in my opinion. I think Breslow would be seriously risking his job if he goes that route. He already made one in-season move that's haunting us by trading Priester. (He's also made some very good moves.)
  20. We'd have to give up a lot to get a good closer, it works both ways. The Red Sox need to add to the bullpen, and swapping closers doesn't do that. And what closers having great seasons are even available? Chapman has been sensational. Trading him would be a kick in the privates to this team.
