  1. He's been absolutely terrible for a $30 million DH/1B.
  2. Giants before trade: 41-31 .569 Giants since trade: 13-23 .361
  3. Launch angle is a big thing, isn't it? As for Anthony, I would leave him alone, he seems to have a good idea what he's doing.
  4. It would be death to the 2025 Red Sox season. No point buying if you're doing that. Anyway it's not happening.
  5. Here's a Fred post from just a few days ago. Seems to be a whole different tune from the one he's been singing about the benefits of tanking. Well Naylor is off the board. The M's scooped him up. My guess is that cheapskate Henry isn't going to spend any (or much) of the $250M he saved by trading Devers. The FO will do what they did last year IMO: pick up some also-rans and demoralize thet team and the fans because they are not committed to winning. Same as last year; same as the year before and the year before that.
  6. OK FLIP. I could swear I saw some posts from you not that long ago talking about moves the Sox should make to improve their chances this year.
  7. And if fans lose interest that can translate to lost revenue and less money to spend on players.
  8. That was not Breslow being impulsive. He can't make that move without the full backing of ownership. Ownership may even have directed it. You know Henry was not happy with Devers.
  9. In 35 games for Devers, 12 for Yoshida. Devers was pretty ugly in his first 12 games this year.
  10. Not long ago you were saying the team had no chance to make the playoffs. Now you're admitting they have a realistic chance of making the playoffs but you don't want them to. You call them the Flops, but you're a Flip Flopper.
  11. Guys break out of slumps all the time, danny. He was a good hitter the last 2 years. Too soon to panic.
  12. In 35 games with the Giants Devers has a .722 OPS, 4 HR and 15 RBI. He's had a lot of bad games.
  13. He's only had 42 PAs this year. Last 2 years he hit .783 and .765. The team needs to have more patience than we do.
  14. Could be, but I can't see how having both Duran and Abreu on the team is an actual problem when they're both on pace for 4 WAR or so.
  15. It also makes zero sense to assume a one and done when the Sox have one of the best starting pitchers in the game and anything can happen in a 2 out of 3. But that's Fred.
  16. Are there any starting pitchers left who have pitched a lot of innings (say 1,500 or more?) without at least one extended absence? Jose Berrios? Luis Castillo?
  17. I think it's agreed that the pitching motion is an unnatural one that puts unnatural stress on the arm. And there's very little that can be done to strengthen the soft tissues that are the ones that rupture. With all the science they have to draw on, they can't stop the endless parade to the surgery table.
  18. The epidemic started long before the pitch clock. Just Google the list of Tommy John surgeries. It's possible the the pitch clock is making it worse, I have no expertise on the subject, that's for sure. But it should show up in the number of injuries before and after they started using the clock.
