  1. 16 runs scored in 9 games since the break. What a season.
  2. IRT defense, Sandoval seems to have a case of Edgar Renteria disease. Renteria went from 11 errors in 2004 to 30 in 2005. Some guys really get messed up coming to Boston.
  3. Good enough to start some games for the 2015 Red Sox.
  4. A trade for a pitcher under control beyond 2015 is not necessarily insane.
  5. Here's a reasonable take on things from Alex Speier. There's a suggestion that Cherington should go back to being the team's farm director. https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/07/23/shoud-red-sox-rebuild-front-office-addition-roster/ZrxJupG2funttH1H367c4L/story.html
  6. Easy on the hyperbole. One dugout blowup doesn't equate to 'major clubhouse cancer'.
  7. No matter what Verlander or Porcello do we can find a way to lose this. Porcello rarely gets past the 6th, so get ready for some more bullpen fun.
  8. If he's healthy the Red Sox exercise the option, no?
  9. Our offense has now slid back down, to 5th-worst in the league in runs scored. And we play in a hitter's park so we're really even worse than that. When it comes to sucking, we are getting it done in all areas.
  10. Depends how you look at it. Some players need to be kept in line. I don't think either of these two rise to Manny's level of difficulty. I'm starting to really believe that Farrell is doing a lousy job motivating this team. It shows in a lot of areas.
  11. We're at 3.5 months now.
  12. I guess I'm kind of a Pollyanna when it comes to Buchholz because he's home-grown and he has a lot of talent. My Pollyanna says he's motivated now because of his contract situation and I think his current injury is just a legit injury, the kind that all pitchers are subject to. But I certainly get where all the knocks on him come from.
  13. Panda-Hanley effort & attitude issues seem to me like one more bad reflection on Farrell as a manager.
  14. It's like the team got together over the break and agreed that they hadn't been doing enough to get Farrell fired.
  15. The only problem with the thread is that iortiz overlooked the fact that the 2012 rotation was the worst in franchise history.
  16. I still keep him, for the sole reason that we have so little else in actual major league caliber pitching talent on our roster.
  17. God love ya, man. I don't know how you can do it. I've been reduced to occasional check-ins on Gameday.
  18. Kershaw's deal isn't really the benchmark because he was much younger. Scherzer's deal is more like the benchmark for Price, although the structure of Scherzer's deal makes it a little more confusing to calculate. Lester's deal can be used as a benchmark, bumped up by around 10% for Price's better numbers. I'd guess 6 years at 28 million.
  19. Is there anybody here who has watched all of the Sox games since the break in their entirety?
  20. Yes, it's just about time to stop f***ing around. Time for Joe Kelly to show this pitching staff the way out of the ashes.
  21. Thanks...I seem to have a knack for gallows humor.
  22. One thing that doesn't get as much attention as the rotation choices is that nothing was done to strengthen the bullpen either.
  23. Kimmi, it's kind of frightening to think that this nightmarish season was the result of a good plan. I'd hate to see a bad one.
  24. He did have a good foundation. But the team he inherited had missed the playoffs 3 years in a row and had won exactly one playoff series under Duquette. In the 9 years Theo was GM our worst season was 86-76, and we know all the rest. He was a hugely successful GM in his own right.
