  1. I'd say close, but not quite. The injuries are alarming, so I think we can get a slight discount on the contract, I'd also like to think there'd be a "hometown discount" but I know that "discount" and "Boras" are rarely used in the same sentence. (Except just now) I think the injuries and the fact that the Crawford contract is widely considered a mistake make it harder for Ellsbury to use that contract as a goal. It'd be like a pitcher asking for Zito's contract. Remember what happened the last time a team gave that contract out?
  2. And the Colts almost screwed it up. They started winning at the end, and had they beat the Jaguars at the end they'd have lost their top pick. The other teams were (literally) out of Luck. (mmmmm)
  3. I think we should keep BV until the end of the season. The worst thing we need is for BV to get fired, and a new manager to come in and the team to get life and fight for meaningless wins to ruin our draft position. We should keep BV in to keep losing so we climb up the reverse standings, and get a protected draft pick.
  4. Too bad Toronto keeps losing too or else we'd climb up the reverse standings. Watching the draft rankings is the only part of baseball I enjoy now.
  5. I watched him pitch a lot for the Rockcats when I worked there. He was pretty good, but more often used as a long reliever. Heck, a lot of the current Twins players I've watched and have autographs from.
  6. Users who purchased these books also purchased: A shotgun.
  7. The only run they should be making is to the top of the draft.
  8. Hahaha I love your avatar dude. Welcome back.
  9. My errors only show up when I try to post, rather than try to view. They also appear in random threads rather than sitewide.
  10. A700, I think part of that Orange's point, in essence, is that if the games come down to unpredictable and absurdly lucky plays (ie David Tyree for sure) then I would bet on the Patriots in most of those scenarios. It's that those plays went the Giants way (among other reasons) why the Giants won all of those scenarios. I would still bet against David Tyree's catch happening just on pure percentages alone. It's like not letting Lebron get any dunks off of you and instead he beats you by making 3 pointers. At some point you have to tip your cap and take that risk. In this case, if the umpires don't blow the play dead on Eli and David Tyree of all people makes that circus catch, I think you can tip your hat to the Gods and acknowledge the fact that Jesus Christ himself didn't want the Pats to win that game.
  11. There's the season, and then the franchise. I'd say Beckett, just because I think Crawford can contribute more in the future years. I'd force Crawford to get his damn surgery now so that he'd be fully recovered earlier. I think there are 3 kinds of players we can choose. 1. Players that are completely useless/redundant/suck. ie: Punto and to a lesser extent Melancon. While I agree they suck, losing Punto doesn't save much money or generate many wins. His contract will be up after next season anyway. 2. Players with large contracts. This will help the franchise the most. Crawford would be the biggest example, Gonzalez (not that he'd be chosen) as well as Beckett/Lackey are also good choices. 3. Players that are toxic to the lockerroom. There is some overlap, but Beckett/Lackey suck and are complete *******s. Youkilis would also be in this category. As a whole, I vote Beckett just because he's the biggest ******* on the team, is owed more money than Lackey, and Lackey has a year at the league minimum and is 500K/year cheaper in the next 2 years. One more of those can afford Nick Punto.
  12. I'm glad that this game was on while I was at work.
  13. All in favour of giving Beckett the "Old Yeller" treatment? Do we still have to pay the rest of his contract if something..."accidentally" happened to him?
  14. For reference, Jeremias Pineda is the CF on the GCL team, is 21 (turning 22 in November) and known for his speed and arm, but his weakness is his bat. His stats aren't noteworthy at this point. Edit: Soxprospects has him as the #58 prospect in our system.
  15. I agree, especially after they already punted by selling Victorino and Pence. This would give them a chance to spend more money in the offseason by signing younger players to bad contracts.
  16. That could be dangerous for the long term of the team, especially having just signed Hamels.
  17. Did they actually get Lee or just claim him?
  18. I actually watched a lot of the Twins players when I did stats with the Rockcats a couple of years ago, and they were clearly the worst team in the minors. A lot of these players looked horrible yet they are still finding ways to beat the Red Sox. The Sox should just stop playing games all together before someone else gets injured or loses trade value.
  19. That's not as hard for you, since when someone twists your balls you can just pick them up off of the floor.
  20. I think we need a veteran/coach that'll come in and smack some of the players upside their heads. I'm talking about a good old fashioned 1970-era ass whoopin.
  21. I'm surprised that they allowed 73 points to Nigeria in the first place.
  22. If you took out the part where I'm a Sox fan, this season's twists and turns would be awesome to watch.
  23. I usually don't say that until after I'm married.
  24. It would also help if stadiums collapsed and took out other teams. It's worth a shot.
  25. I'm just lazy. I have a lot of quit in me.
