  1. I'd do it just because we'd get out of the contract, add a RH bat (with more power) and be over with the contract 3 years earlier. Since Crawford is younger and in my opinion is a much more "Angels mold" type player (can steal bases, good defense etc) I think the Angels would like him. And since we're taking a really bad contract off of their hands and giving them a better player (albeit a heavier contract) I don't think we'd have to throw in salary relief or prospects. I think that Wells might have more fun with the Green Monster than Crawford. Since this season is lost, I'm thinking about what's best for the franchise, and I think shedding Crawford's lousy contract is worth taking on Wells. We might even have a better shot at offering Ellsbury a lousy long term contract.
  2. If you're looking for an ace with a focus on the future seasons rather than this season then I agree. I don't think a single ace pitcher will salvage our season to the point whereby it'd be worth further depleting our farm system for a shot at the playoffs.
  3. I'd listen to offers for everyone. I'd then assassinate Lucchino and live the rest of my life (in jail) knowing that they'd have built a statue of me in Boston.
  4. I like what the Astros are doing. They are committed to selling, and have begun to recoup what has been consistently known as one of the worst farm systems in the majors, and saved a bit on payroll by trading Carlos Lee, JA Happ, Brandon Lyon, Brett Myers, and now Wandy Rodriguez.
  5. Astros selling again, this time Wandy Rodriguez goes to the Pirates for Rudy Owens, Robbie Grossman, and Colton Cain.
  6. You're both right, Cherington is a puppet, and Lucchino needs to go before anyone else.
  7. I still think that the Yankees won the Pineda/Montero deal at the time of the trade too. The wildcard is Campos. I mean for f****s sake that Faruhquar guy had been on waivers a dozen times this year.
  8. Ichiro and Sanchez are a good start.
  9. Who does Brian Cashman blow to get all of these good deals? I swear to god he has photos of every other GM cheating on their wives...with another man. That said I'm angrier about Detroit getting Anibal Sanchez (and Omar Infante) from Miami.
  10. I just think it'd be more beneficial to take advantage of a seller's market and benefit the farm system rather than purge it for players that would likely either leave (without draft picks) or raise the salary of the team (on a team that doesn't really have room to take on salary). The problem in Boston is that it's hard to admit when you're defeated and when to pack it in. I think it's a lot easier for other teams because they can pack it in, have a really bad year, and take advantage of it in the draft whereas the Red Sox are constantly "good but not great" which means they won't win the World Series and are still stuck with bad draft positioning. It's like an "all or nothing" atmosphere where the Red Sox are in the middle. They need to go one way or another while there's still time, and seeing as only 1 team wins the World Series, I'd rather punt on the season than risk losing any more and ending up stuck when it's too late to undo the mistakes.
  11. Raise the avg a bit and that'd match my RTTS player.
  12. Unless the game changes to favor offense, I don't see it happening for a long time...unless in a video game.
  13. It wasn't bad, I just took it far too literally.
  14. I think we'd make a great Charades team.
  15. I wish that I could vote for the first two options, since I think that we can still make the playoffs, however we are not going to go far, and therefore it's be more advantageous to blow everything up and really build for the future, contingent on the offers we receive of course. (Rather than giving away pieces just to give away pieces)
  16. It could either be Mark Teixeira or John Lackey, but I assume Lackey would less likely be on base, let alone less likely to make it close to 3rd base at all. Edit: Dark horse candidate (pun intended) could be Sarah Jessica Parker.
  17. Get a restraining order for LL.
  18. They have to admit it to themselves AND the unfriendly Red Sox fanbase. Tough crowd.
  19. Looks like we might be back to being sellers at the deadline. lml
  20. I for one would love to see what the Braves would offer. They have some pieces.
  21. I think they should trade for Lee too, but I don't think they will. And there are times where Buchholz hasn't even pitched worthy of a spot at all, let alone a #4. I'll admit that he's been pitching better as of late though, I wish I could say the same about Beckett/Lester.
  22. Yeah I felt bad for Jeremy Guthrie, I liked him, he seemed like a good guy and very underrated in a crappy Baltimore team for years.
