  1. Beckett should have been someone else's problem at this point. I wonder if he'll make it through waivers.
  2. Which explains why Cherington had no idea how to sell, since he hadn't seen Theo do it before.
  3. Short of unloading Soriano's contract on someone, he pretty much wrote the manual on how to sell at the deadline and put yourself in a position to succeed in the future. If only Cherington knew how to read.
  4. That being said, I hate this entire God damn organization sometimes. They pretty much did exactly what I thought they'd do, which is pretty much one of the worst things you can do. Either try to win or try to lose, but don't stay in the f***** middle. That's how you suck for many consecutive years. Maybe we restarted that 86 year clock again. Anyone know where I can get industrial strength rope to hang my fat self with? I'm sure the Irabu's have some.
  5. I'm hoping for a miracle that would make him physically unable to walk away. I will go to church every day if that happens.
  6. Let's say that something hypothetically happened to Josh Beckett. Would we still be on the hook for the rest of his contract? Would we have to pay his estate the remainder of the contract or could we write it off as a "fortunate act of God"
  7. (Starts to do math) That means you're......
  8. How was it being alive in 1969?
  9. Should: Sell Say they'll do: Buy Actually do: Nothing
  10. I would also argue that sucking worse would net us better draft position AND allow us to spend more money in signing our picks. I'd rather have that in a lost season than to suck half-way, finish in the middle and have a mediocre draft position. If you're going to suck, might as well dedicate yourself to it.
  11. And Beckett was drafted #2, and Miller was drafted #6. Not to mention that Lester, Salty, Cook, Shoppach, Pedroia, Buchholz, Ellsbury, Crawford, Sweeney, and Lackey in the first 2 rounds.
  12. Great, it looks like our draft pick just got worse with the win.
  13. Hopefully the Red Sox still acknowledge they should be sellers at the deadline.
  14. Maybe they're anxiously waiting how he'll do without his performance enhancing marijuana.
  15. Spoiler Alert: Yankees win, Red Sox fans don't care as they already gave up on the season.
  16. They really just DQ'ed the 2008 Gold Medalist in the 400 Free for an "early start"?!? Damn they must be pissed that the one Brit lost his lead at the end. Update: South Korea appealed the DQ and it was overturned, so Park is reinstated, bumping a Canadian swimmer out of the finals, for which Canada appealed and was rejected.
  17. USA still shutout in the medal count. Panic!!!
  18. It really comes down to what is being offered. And we'll never know all of the offers from all of the teams. Hell we have enough trouble filtering out rumors from mouthpieces that shouldn't be allowed to own a computer.
  19. It depends on what the offer would be, since he's a FA, but it seems like there's a good chance of resigning him for the next season, which he's certainly proved his worth. I feel the same about Shoppach, but if we get a semi-decent prospect offer for either I'm pulling the trigger. Cherington and the FO will find a way to blow it though.
